From Sharon’s Desk Welcome back to all for another busy Term 4. I hope that all families had quality time together over the last 2 weeks. Our South team of Mrs Hosking, Mr Tarry, Mrs Dickson, Mrs St Clair and myself are attending training “Berry St Model”—a focus on trauma and mindfulness. It provides hands on strategies and approaches to teachers in classrooms to be able to support children to meet their emotional, intellectual, physical, spiritual and educational needs. This is a positive approach to enabling better connections and relationships between staff and students. Have a look at the makeover to our school rhino. The pattern and colours were inspired from the winning competition entry by Sonny Palin. A great look! Welcome back to Term 4. We hope you all had an enjoyable and restful break. Reading & Borrowing This term we will be reorganising some of our fiction books into genres. Students will be able to look for mystery, adventure, science fiction and other genres on the designated shelves. This is a trial to see if students like finding books this way and are encouraged to read more. We will be looking at the different genres during class visits to the library. Some books fit into more than one genre, so we will be putting stickers on the books to help students identify the collection. Book Club Issue 7 will be here in the next week. Brochures will be sent to classes and we will set a date for the close of orders as soon as they have been distributed. Loop orders are open already and you can go online and order anytime. Enjoy this crazy weather. Happy reading. Sue Buttrey Teacher Librarian

Child Protection During Term 4 all students will be engaging in Child Protection lessons. This is a mandatory part of the PDHPE Syllabus and all students will be participating. If you have any questions about the content to be covered please fell free to contact your child’s teacher.

Kinder Red, Kinder Purple and Kinder Green are asking for donations of wrapped lollies. Kinder Yellow are asking for donations of cooking chocolate (both white and milk), Chang’s Original Fried Noodles, jelly crystals, pretzels and plastic cups and spoons. We would greatly appreciate your support with this event. Any donations can be sent to school and given to classroom teachers. Kinder Blue will be holding a construction centre and do not require any donations. Final Week for Soccer/Footy Boots

Thank you to all those wonderful families that are putting their old soccer/footy boots to good use. We currently have 26 pairs ready to make their way to the Joy Blessed School in Uganda. If you have any pairs lying around that are too small and still have some life in them think about donating them to this very worthy cause. This will be the final week before they are collected and delivered to some very excited children in Uganda. Many Thanks, Mrs Prince

The Auld brothers donated 11 pairs of soccer boots – what a family of champions!

Year 6 Farewell The Year 6 farewell will be held this term. All Year 5 are asked to bring in $10 entry. This covers the cost of entry, food and a cake. Please give this to your class teacher. On Thursday 24th October we are asking Year 5 to donate cupcakes to sell to raise money for the decorations for our “Neon Party” theme this year.

P&C News Next P&C Meeting will be Wednesday 16th October, 6.30pm in the Shed. We will be discussing the upcoming School Fete so come along and contribute any ideas.
