Year 5 came in dressed up as Rock stars for Rock stars maths day!

During the Rock stars maths investigation lesson we looked at and solved ‘How many

outfits can the rock star wear for Halloween?’ The children had to find all the possible

outfit combinations that the rock star mathematician could wear. They applied their

systematic investigating skills to try and spot some patterns. They also had to use their

explaining and convincing skills to help others to understand the answer. Here is some of

With Miss Trabelsi they looked at ‘How to solve algebra shape problems’ .The children had

to use the clues available to them and add, subtract, multiply or divide to find the value of

the shape. They used a variety of methods to help solve the problem, including mental
