The Netherlands has a huge pool of inspiring people, creative talent and great startups. There is an enormous global market to be served by them. With its small home market, it’s difficult to achieve size and scale. To truly compete and reach their potential, the Dutch have to think and operate globally faster than ever before. But how?

A NEW NETWORKThe time is right to create a new organization that’s smart, efficient and entertaining. A new network. This new network should focus on several types of individuals and organizations:

Startups and bandsThey’re on the cutting edge. Know what’s up. Their founders are curious, active networkers on an international level. They are open to learning from others. Above all, they want to showcase their work.

Established companies and organizationsThese incumbents want to stay current on the latest developments. Keeping in touch with the hottest startups keeps them fresh and alert. They want to share their knowledge and promote their products and services to fast growing companies.

Talented individualsAnd then there’s the individual talent. They may never do a startup or work at a big company. But they know people and can influence an audience. We know them as artists, bloggers, journalists, dancers, hackers, dj’s and models.

“A fellow in the broadest sense is someone who is an equal or a comrade. The term fellow is also used to describe a person. It is most often used in an academic context: a fellow is often part of an elite group of learned people who are awarded fellowship to work together as peers in the pursuit of knowledge or practice. The fellows may include visiting professors, postdoctoral researchers and doctoral researchers.”

THE CONCEPTThe Dutch Fellows are: • members with different titles • active online through social media and dutchfellows.com • organizers of meetings where business meets entertainment • a diverse group of unified individuals

Guiding principles: • todays startups can be tomorrow’s giants • todays students can be tomorrow’s leaders • big business needs love too

Open society: • anyone can request an invitation • but you need at least one member to support your application

MEMBERSHIPS AND EVENTSMembership of the Dutch Fellows: The Dutch Fellows have a natural hierarchy, not one that dominates, but a structure that inspires. Members are invited to all Fellow Events, without any obligation to attend. Fellow Events: The Dutch Fellows will periodically organize and be present at international events. Attending an event organized by the Dutch Fellows doesn’t mean you’ve become a member, but it could be a first step towards membership.

Primary goal of all Fellow Events is to promote and facilitate personal networking and business development by its members.

BUSINESS IS PERSONALMembers of The Dutch Fellows are equal, but not the same. To emphasize this there are different titles for the various memberships:

Founder: Founding FellowSponsor: Funding Fellow Organization: Fixing FellowVIP guest: Fellow Friend Talent/student: Future Fellow

Invitations to join The Dutch Fellows are always personal. Founders leave and start new companies. Companies are sold and shut down. But talent is forever.

Fostering creative and professional growth alike, SXSW is the premier destination for discovery. With 60,000 registrants in attendance, SXSW is one of the most effective channels for promoting your business to professionals connected in the Music, Film and Interactive industries.In 2013, for the first time, The Dutch Fellows are an official partner of SXSW with prominent placement in the official program guide and a stand at the trade show.

GOALS FOR THE DUTCH FELLOWS AT SXSW • stand out from the crowd • enhance existing business contacts • reach out to a new following and create new business • reduce marketing expenses by sharing costs • enjoy SXSW THE DUTCH FELLOWS BASEThe Dutch Fellows Base is our own Dutch Fellows venue at Lucille, 77 Rainey Street during SXSW 2013.

Expect the following:• lunches and business events during the day, parties at night• a line-up with Dutch bands, singers and dj’s• ‘Oranje atmosphere’

THE DUTCH FELLOWS STANDThe Dutch Fellows have their own 20x20 ft. island stand at the trade show, March 10-13. Funding and Founding Fellows can use the stand to promote their business and meet with guests. in 2012 there were 65.000 trade show attendees.

THE SUPER PA’S

Unique, personal, ultra functional, elegant: the super PA’s• act as hostesses for the Fellows• promote all Dutch Fellows events during SXSW• are in charge of crowd management at the door • are responsible for mood management at all events• perform as entertainers at night

The super PA’s will be recognizable as the official promoters of the Dutch Fellows at all time, although their styling and outfits will change for every event.

DUTCH FELLOWS MEMBERSHIPS There are three different Dutch Fellows memberships. Founding Fellows, startups, pay half the rate of the more established larger companies, the Funding Fellows, but get twice the promotional value. The Fellow Friend membership is aimed at creative individuals who attend SXSW and participate in The Dutch Fellows events in theNetherlands.
