I-195 Relocation RIDOT is relocating Interstate highway

I-195 through Providence Need based on structural

River Crossing The Seekonk River Crossing is

approximately 87 years old (ca. 1918) Narragansett Electric Co. (NECO)

would like to replace this river crossing coincident with the highway relocation work

Replacing the Seekonk River crossing provides an opportunity to address issues relating to India Point Park and the historic Washington Bridge

Proposed Cost Recovery Stakeholders recognize that while the

PTF transmission line provides regional benefits, the primary benefit of undergrounding this section is local

Total Cost $16.724M Local Support $12.949M Regional Support $ 3.775M

Cost Basis for Regional Support

Equivalent to cost of practical and feasible alternative – the “Bridge North Alignment” Removes line from India Point Park Relocates line to north side of

historic Washington Bridge

Conclusions Relocating line E-183 through

Providence provides both regional and local benefits

A combination of regional and local cost recovery is proposed

Regional cost recovery based on cost of practical and feasible overhead alternative Total Cost $16.724M Local Support $12.949M Regional Support $ 3.775M
