HIGHWAY 8 & 101 ST TRANSMISSION LINE 7.82 RELOCATION PROJECT PROJECT OVERVIEW Alberta Transportation (AT) has directed ENMAX Power Corporation (ENMAX) to relocate the existing single circuit 138kV ENMAX 7.82L transmission line (Existing Line) to accommodate construction of the west portion of the ring road project. Therefore, ENMAX is proposing to salvage, replace and relocate transmission structures on the Existing Line, located within the Transportation Utility Corridor (TUC) on the south side of Highway 8 from 69 Street SW, running west towards 101 Street SW and north on 101 Street SW to 14 Avenue SW. Maps detailing the boundaries of the projects are included in this newsletter. This relocation consists of two sequential projects: the relocation of the Existing Line running parallel to 101 Street SW to 14 Avenue SW, (the 101 Street Project), and the relocation of the Existing Line running south along Highway 8, (the Highway 8 Project). ROUTE DEVELOPMENT In evaluating possible route options to meet AT’s direction, ENMAX conducted a thorough routing and siting program. After evaluating several route options, ENMAX is proposing one route for the 101 Street Project and two routes for the Highway 8 Project. OPEN HOUSES ENMAX representatives will be available at two open houses to share information, gather your input and address any questions or concerns you may have on the proposed transmission project. We hope to see you there. HIGHWAY 8 & 101 ST TRANSMISSION LINE 7.82 RELOCATION PROJECT

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Alberta Transportation (AT) has directed ENMAX Power Corporation (ENMAX) to relocate the existing single circuit 138kV ENMAX 7.82L transmission line (Existing Line) to accommodate construction of the west portion of the ring road project.

ROUTE DEVELOPMENT

In evaluating possible route options to meet AT’s direction, ENMAX conducted a thorough routing and siting program.

After evaluating several route options, ENMAX is proposing one route for the 101 Street Project and two routes for the Highway 8 Project.

OPEN HOUSES

ENMAX representatives will be available at two open houses to share information, gather your input and address any questions or concerns you may have on the proposed transmission project. We hope to see you there.

PROJECT DETAILS

The 101 Street Project: ENMAX is proposing to relocate the portion of the Existing Line that currently parallels 101 Street SW. ENMAX is proposing to move a portion of the line further west, closer to the boundary of the TUC. The proposed section of the Existing Line to be relocated is located north of Lower Springbank Road. The proposed relocation would connect with the Existing Line south of 14 Avenue SW. The portion of the Existing Line that would be relocated would be approximately 1.9 kilometres (kms) in length with approximately 19 self-supporting galvanized steel monopoles. The proposed transmission poles would range in height from approximately 17 metres to 25 metres. The proposed relocation is detailed on the map below:

PROJECT DETAILS

The Highway 8 Project: The Existing Line crosses Highway 8 just west of 69 Street SW from the north side of Highway 8 to the south, where it runs parallel to Highway 8 going west. ENMAX has identified two potential routes to relocate the Existing Line in the area to accommodate AT’s construction plans. They are as follows:

PROJECT DETAILS

The proposed routes for both projects remain within the designated TUC. All proposed routes will continue to utilize a single circuit, 138 kV transmission line, the same as the Existing Line. The average distance between each pole structure when relocated would be approximately 100 to 120 metres, as compared to the average distance associated with the Existing Line, being approximately 90 to 110 metres between each pole structure.

PROJECT SCHEDULE

Stakeholder Consultation: Late Q1 2019 - Early Q2 2019 Application Filing with AUC: Q2 2019 Construction: Construction is anticipated to commence between Q4 2019 and Q2 2020, pending all regulatory approvals.

The South route: This proposed relocation would begin north of the 200 block of Discovery Ridge Way SW and run west, as detailed on the map below. The proposed transmission relocate would cross Highway 8 from South to North to reconnect with the portion of the Existing Line that runs parallel along 101 Street SW. The portion of the Existing Line that would be relocated would be approximately 1.8 kms in length, with approximately 16 self-supporting galvanized steel monopoles. The proposed transmission poles would range in height from approximately 17 metres to 25 metres.

The North route: This proposed relocation would result in the Existing Line continuing west from 69 Street SW, rather than crossing Highway 8 as detailed in the South Route, paralleling the north side of Highway 8 heading west. The portion of the Existing Line that would be relocated would be approximately 3.2 kms in length with approximately 28 self-supporting galvanized steel monopoles. The proposed transmission poles would range in height from approximately 17 metres to 25 metres.

The South Route and the North Route are detailed on the map below:
