Corruption is detrimental to all areas and aspectsof human well-being, in particular the human rightsheld by all individuals. Thus, the effectiveprotection and guarantee of human rightsnecessarily includes mitigating systemic problemssuch as corruption.
The Webinar will address the complex interplaybetween corruption and human rights. It willemphasize the value of making an explicitconnection between corruption and human rights,which have commonly been considered separatefields. The Webinar will explore variousapproaches to understanding this corruption–
human rights nexus. Participants will have theopportunity to discuss examples of the ways inwhich corruption violates specific human rightsand engage in the debate on whether corruptionshould be recognized as a human rights violation.The webinar will also address the argument thatanti-corruption measures can themselves posehuman rights problems.
