SCENARIO

Scenario 1:

Your organisation has decided to broadcast work on a platform.A tutor has sent their students some work to complete, which includes a link to a video. A parent has complained that the video, which has been sent, is inappropriate and that the child has been affected by what has been sent.

What should you do?

Scenario 2:

Your organisation has decided to use live lessons for students.

During a lesson, you notice that one of your pupils has multiple scratches and a wound, which seems to be a burn mark, on their face.

Usually, this child is very enthusiastic and confident. However, today they barely participate in the lesson, which is unlike them.

What should you do?

Guidelines on Face to Face delivery

Page 13: Ealing Out of School Settings Network · 6/18/2020  · • Schools have reopened – OOSS to remain closed • Providers caring for children over 5 to remain closed if: – operating

Detached youth workDetached youth work takes place in ‘non-institutional’ settings, spaces youngpeople have much more control over. Primarily, but not exclusively, the work takes place in the street, but also in parks, cafés, shopping centres, and other spaces young people have chosen to be.

Outreach work‘reaching out to bring back’ to a service or provision, typically somewhere building-based. Outreach work can also involve the taking out of a specific service or information to those not accessing those services. Examples include drugs and sexual health education and harm-minimisation work.

Street-based workIs focused exclusively on the streets. Street-based youth work is often used to describedetached youth work in other European countries.

Mobile provisionUses some kind of vehicle, normally a converted van or bus. Pop-up provisionYouth work delivered in temporary locations, either a temporary structure or often high street

Detached YW is applicable in following settings…………….
