First Darwin Race - 9/11/16
Report from the stables - Sharlene ClarkeRonn was purchased at the Inglis Sales in
August. We have been happy with his work on the track since arriving in Darwin. First run
on the track Brendon said he just stood in the barriers.
Other than that he handled the dirt as he did get back in the field. Didn’t hang.
So everything else he was happy with but not the start from the barriers. We will put him through the barriers and try and address this problem.
Other than that he pulled up good.
Ronn’s Moss Stable name “Ron” Syndicate 9 Current
A recent purchase for WTRNT Syndicate 9
Ron is a 5-year-old Chestnut gelding.
Current Owners’ are Henry Dwyer Racing Stable who wish to continue to have a share in Ronn’s Moss
The Gary Clarke Stable
Previous form was 2 wins from 21 starts, hopefully he will do better in Darwin.
We had a drinks meet and greet for him on 8/11/16 and his first race was on Friday 9/11/16. He will improve.

Inferential or “Fergie “ Syndicates 1 & 2 (Retired)Fergie arrived in Darwin on the 5/2/16 and we all had great hopes for her,
She came close to winning on 3 occasions for us and the other owners.
She bled in Katherine in August 16, and pulled up very sore.
It was decided that in the best interests and for the welfare of the horse to retire her.
She moved to a cattle station to be a mum.
Air Striker Syndicates 7 & 8 (Retired)We purchased Air Striker on the 28/4/14 and had a part share with the trainer Stephen Brown and his wife Elisha Brown. Air Striker at the time of retirement by WTRNT was a 7-year-old Brown gelding. After the Darwin Cup of 2015, training of Air Striker was taken over by Journeyman Lodge Carl Spry although ownership remained with Stephen and Elisha Brown and WTRNT.During our ownership Air Striker won the following races: 5/10/14 in Benalla, 8/8/15 in Katherine, 17/10/15 at Fannie Bay, 15/4/16 at Fannie Bay. I know a lot of the girls can remember the excitement of these wins particularly the group of girls who traveled to Katherine after the Darwin Cup in 2015.Air Striker also placed a number of time for us, a second in Pakenham Park during his Melbourne campaign with the Brown’s stable and then on returning to Darwin two seconds and a third at Fannie Bay.Like all of our Syndicated horse we have certainly had some fun with him.
Leica Rocket Syndicates 3 & 4 (Retired)Leica Rocket was a very big horse, but beautifully natured and gentle for his size.
He was purchased by Carl Spry and Journeyman lodge from Mark Kavenagh and we all had great expectations for him.
WTRNT held a 50% share in “The Beast”
Carl very nicely gave us free training until prize money was won.
Unfortunately this never happened, he never lived up to our expectations.
The syndicate was dissolved with a payment of $91.00 per full syndicate share.
Leica Rocket was re homed locally to a family for dressage and jumping, and by all account is enjoying life.

Welcome to the
WTRNT Carnival LaunchWednesday 15 June 2016
WTRNT is a great group of women of all ages, professions and interesting lives with a common interest in horse racing. Some are
very involved, others a little – it really doesn’t matter we socialise meeting and greeting our horses, at cocktails functions and our very famous and
popular lunch.
Wendy and I have had the pleasure of organising the “Welcome to Carnival Function” which has previously been at Croc Cove. This function gives local milliners, jewellers, boutique owners of fashion, shoes and bags to display and sell their products on the night. This is a great way to
view new trends and fashion for the coming race days. Models wander through the crowd showing how garments are worn and accessorised.
On this informal fun night we mingle, enjoy gourmet canapes, beverages and the company of current and prospective new members and their guests. This is a great start to race season and always a successful evening. - Louise
Who do we support?Once again I would like to thank WTRNT for your previous sponsorship and we are requesting for
sponsorship again this year. Last years $3,500 went towards the students airfare and would be greatly appreciated once again. When in Adelaide, the students will attend breeding,
education, training, racing and life after racing within the 3 codes of racing. They will also get to investigate into further career pathways, visiting TAFE SA and
other Registered Training Organisations.
With your sponsorship, you will enable the students to gain a broader perspective of racing and related industries that
are not available in the Northern Territory.
Kind Regards,
Trudie Clarke Taminmin College

A Night at the DogsFriday 22 April 2016
WTRNT and The Bernborough Club combined forces on Friday the 22nd of April for “A Night at the Dogs”.
WTRNT had 28 members and guest attend with 19 catching the bus from Bogarts Bar and Grill to the Winnellie Greyhound Track and back. Greg Aldam provided free entry into the course (if we all bought a raffle ticket or two – not sure if anyone won anything), and named one race WTRNT Handicap and another The Bernborough Club Handicap on the evening, both clubs had a Calcutta on their respective races with the proceeds retained by the named club.
Finger food was provided throughout the evening, and lubrication available at the bar. Whilst a great time was had by everyone I’m not sure if anyone had any winners, but we did get the opportunity to pat as many greyhound’s as we wished. A fun night!
