East Asian Studies Center will hold an important information session on fellowships available toundergraduate and graduate students. Students will have the opportunity to learn about theForeign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship and the Association for Japan-U.S.Community Exchange (ACE) - Nikaido Fellowship and Sayoko Kono Legacy Fund benefits andapplication requirements. Professor Todd Henry of UCSD will speak on"Queer Lives as Cautionary Tales: FemaleSame-Sex Weddings in the Hetero-Patriarchal Imagination of Authoritarian SouthKorea." Part of larger book project, thispresentation examines the role that newspaperweeklies (chuganji) played in establishing the
normative boundaries of cultural citizenship in Cold War South Korea. This event is co-sponsored by the Korean Humanities Group, Department of History, Department of AmericanStudies & Ethnicity, The One Archives and the East Asian Studies Center.

Scholarship Opportunity The application for the 2018 Boren Awards: Language Study and Research in East Asia isnow open.
