Date of project 2015 Where FRP composites are used and why Pipex px supplied, fabricated and delivered 68M of Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composite walkways and 3x FRP Refuges for the Bicester to Oxford railway collaboration programme. Specific design details The 18m FRP walkway is constructed from 2x 36” sections of FRP Double Web Beam (DWB) that will span across a river. The walkways are 0.7M wide and ranged from 8M to 18M in length. The refuges are 0.7M wide x 1M in length. Type of composite used The walkways and refuges are constructed from highly durable EXTREN series 525 FRP plates, 610mm FRP I-Beam profiles and Safrail FRP handrails. Performance in service Installed performance exactly to specification, long term performance to be reported in time.
