After the November issue had already gone to print we were hit by Hurrican Sandy. Some still have not yet recovered from the devastation left upon the Northeast, especially the Jersey Shore and New York. I have freinds and family that have lost their homes and income as result

of this terrible storm. Please keep these people in your prayers at this time of year and do whatever you can to help... in any way you can.

In times like these we must all stick together and help each other out. This is one of the traits that sets the motorcycle community apart from any other. I have often commented about how we, as bikers, are willing to do so much for those less fortunate.

Christmas is a special time of year for us, each in our way. When I hear the Christmas music on my car radio I think back to when I was a boy, putting money aside to buy gifts for my parents and brothers and sisters. I can remember walking downtown to the local five & dime to shop for special presents for those most important in my life.

It all seems so long ago now, but every year I am reminded of those happy days and just how important Christmas is to me. I hope that you have a special memory about your Christmas and keep it alive with your children and grandchildren year after year.

I’d like to take this time to wish all you a Very Merry Christmas and a Specially Happy New Year! Remember to keep Christ in Christmas because He is the Reason for the Season!

I’ll see you on the road or at the next event.

York Bike Show ReturnsWhite Rose Thunder brings on the heatstory & photos by Norm Keller

It seems that 2012 has been a year of new events and restored events. It’s been a few years since the last bike event was held at the York Fairgrounds during the annual Harley Open House weekend. Larry Racey, Jeff Rehmeyer, Bob Adamson and the rest of the staff have put together a great event in the White Rose Thunder this past September.

Filling the Toyota Convention Center and the outside parking lot with vendors and sponsors took a lot of work and it paid off when the gates opened. As I arrived on Saturday I was pleased to see all the bikes in the parking lot, that told me that this event was getting off to a good start.

There was certainly plenty to see and do. Biker Billy was on hand cooking up some fun at the Roadhouse Cafe while flat track racing was taking place at the grand stand. There were poker runs offered on Friday, Saturday & Sunday that offered cash to the winning hands.

Meanwhile inside the Toyota building there was bike builders with some awesome bikes to check out and you could even update your tattoo collection in the tattoo coral. There was a great selection of artists to choose from.

I spent the better part of the day walking around, taking photos and talking with people who seemed to be having a great time. Plans are already in the works for 2013 and there will be some changes in the schedule so you’ll want to keep in touch with he guys on their website www.whiterosethunder.com for updates. They’d also like to hear from you on what you would like see at next years event. Of course you’ll want to keep in touch with he East Coast Biker too as 2013 ride season begins to kick off.

I’m happy to see this event return, it was a large undertaking but I have a feeling that this is going to be another memorable event. If you didn’t attend the White Rose Thunder, I’m sure you’ll want to put it on your list for next year. See you there!

More Bang For Your BuckYou don’t need a lot of money for a great looking bikestory by Norm Keller, Photos by Sam Dixon

I received an email from photographer Sam Dixon with a photo of a bike that I thought was appropriate for this time of year. With the end of the football season and we are awaiting the Super Bowl, I am sure that there are a lot of Steelers fans out there so here you go.

Although Back Alley Bobbers www.backalleybobbers.com are not from Pennsylvania they have created a really great bike. This bike can be yours for only $6,400.00! That’s right, Chris Aardema, the owner of Back Alley Bobbers, builds these great bikes in Salt Lake City, Utah and ships them all over the country. Chris tells me that they don’t have any bikes over $8,900.00.

He takes used Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha & Suzuki bikes and “Chops them up” then reconstructs them with new life. You only have to check his website to see how creative these bikes can be and he’ll be happy to help you with shipping arrangements from a reliable transport company. If you have some ideas of what you would like to see they’ll work with you and make it happen.

The shop was opened in April 2010 and since then the word has spread and they’ve been pretty with creating new bikes and shipping them out. Most of the work is done in house including the powder coating and they have a local guy creating some really great seats. Painting is done by TK Customs, check them out at www.tkcustoms.com, who will work with any design you might have in mind.

The great part about these bikes is that service is not a problem because you can take it to your local dealer or bike. Because they work with name brands it’s not hard to get repairs done, that keeps the cost of maintenance way down. Too often I hear from someone that bought a custom built bike but they can’t get service because the local dealer or shop doesn’t want to service something they know nothing about.

Photographer Sam Dixon happened to be in the Salt Lake City area and put together this great photo shoot and I’m glad that he thought about my readers when he offered me the shoot. The model goes by the name “Ky” and she looks totally awesome on this great bike.

By the way, if you happen to be a Raider’s fan, they have that bike available also. If anybody would want to contact them to build an Eagle’s bike I’d like to see it in an upcoming issue.

Don’t let the distance distract you. These guys are building some awesome bikes, just check out their site and you can’t argue with the prices. Ask for Chris and tell him that you read about his great bikes in the East Coast Biker.

Hurricane Sandy inundated the Tri-State area on October 29 and 30 but the Halloween scare only marked the end of a full month of motorcycle activities. Chester County‘s annual toy run took place on October 28 under the threat of the impending storm. Hundreds of riders gathered at West Chester Cycle for the ride to PJ Whelihans in nearby Downingtown where they dropped off the toys and found food and music. Delaware County riders reached out to help Autistic children on October 14 when they rode in the annual Autistic Ride which started from the New

Jersey Camden County Waterfront and ended at The House of Blues in Atlantic City. The hundreds who participated had music and food at the end of their sixty-mile run.

The area Polar Bear Riders met with the Philadelphia Motorcycle Riders group to ride to the first stop in the 2012/2013 Polar Bear Grand Tour at the VFW Hall in Cape May, NJ. The Polar Bear Tour consists of riders from the tri-state area and throughout New England who want to continue riding on Sundays all winter. Participants earn points for their endurance that can be used for patches to advertise their achievements.

The Tri-State HOG chapter held the club’s annual Chili Cook-off and poker run at Hannum’s Harley-Davidson’s Octoberfest on October 20 where hun-dreds gathered to find out if they won the 2013 Fat Boy. The lucky winner was Spencer Graves who actually purchased a Softail that morning which he promptly returned to Hannum’s to take home his winning bike. Meanwhile, Indian Valley HOG made the winning chili.

Charlie Dresden, the club’s Road Captain, provided an opportunity to ride to the famous pagoda in Reading, PA. The group left the Classic Diner on Route 30 in Malvern, PA on Sunday October 21 after a hearty breakfast and rode to the pagoda then ended up having lunch at Doghouse Burgers in Downingtown, PA.

The Keystone Chapter of Women on Wheels took a colorful last ride of the season to Ott’s Nursery near Collegeville, PA after their October 20 meeting at Smaltz’s Harley-Davidson in Eagle, PA. Bobbie Taylor led the six riders to a blazing mountain of color produced by hundreds of chrysanthemums at their peak of bloom. On the ride Claire Cahill told the group about her ride on the trans Alaskan highway which she took with a friend for twenty-four days in June. On the trip they had a grip clenching ride over gravel balls for twenty-six miles which tested their nerve and endurance. Cahill said they saw the best scenery and wildlife sightings in British Colombia and were oblivious to the danger. They photo-graphed two grizzly bear cubs with the mother nowhere in sight. When they reached Alaska ,they rode to Anchor-age, Denali and Fairbanks. Both bikes were Harley-Davidson Softail's that gave them no mechanical problems on the entire trip.

The Delaware County Motorcycle Riders filled their autumn days of October with varied events. An experienced group of riders left on October 11 from the WAWA in Exton, PA for a day trip to the Luray Caverns in Virginia and back again. Another group took a weekend run to Romney, WV to take the Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad Ride. Members who like to eat as well as ride had a chance to have lunch at the Limerick Diner in Limerick, PA on October 14. See wolves and eat ice cream on October 27, have lunch at the Steamboat in Lancaster on October 21 or gather at Cantina Diablos in Ardmore, PA on the evening of October 17.

The autumn weather provided excellent ride opportunities for riders in the Tri-State area.

As the winter months slowly, but inevitably approach and for many riders the season comes to an end, generally the quantity of new calls we get from those who’ve been involved in motorcycle accidents, also slows down. However, inasmuch as our office has been representing motorcycle riders for well over twenty years, we are finding that we are still getting calls from new clients who ride on the warmer days and unfortunately for any number of reasons, have been involved in a motorcycle accident and are searching for a motorcycle accident lawyer to represent them.

We also get calls from those who have been in a motorcycle accident in the last three to eighteen months and, regardless of the severity of their injuries, they have decided to “handle their case on their own”. What most of these clients inevitably learn, is what they thought was going to be a relatively simple

task often turns into a nightmare as the insurance adjuster stops returning their phone calls or continues to ask for more and more materials in an attempt to run out the applicable statue of limitations which for PA, NJ and DE is two years. As a result we get panicked calls from potential clients who are a few months away from the Statute of Limitations and are now in desperate need to find a Pennsylvania or New Jersey motorcycle accident lawyer to quickly take over their claim. Most of these clients, although originally having a “do it on my own” mentality, are relieved once we agree to take on their case, assuming we have enough time prior to the statute of limitations to either resolve, or to at least get suit filed.

Recently while attending the Lansdale Bike Night, I was approached by a client who had been in a serious motorcycle accident and whose own insurance company told him he did not have a claim and therefore he did not seek out a motorcycle accident attorney. As many people do, he believed his insurance company was acting in his best interest and therefore there was no reason to hire a motorcycle attorney. However, after a short discussion and some phone calls to his insurance company, we quickly advised him that he had a claim worth up to $100,000.00, as that was the amount of uninsured motorist coverage he had purchased through his motorcycle insurance carrier. We are currently handling this claim and expect to resolve it in the six figure range in the near future.

The other reason we seem to get calls through the winter months is that many clients after a motorcycle accident have found an attorney through a friend or neighbor and hire that law firm. However, they quickly realize that they are just one of many accident cases that the firm is handling and therefore, no matter how many times they call their lawyer, they have a very difficult time getting a return phone call. We always return our clients calls!

The bottom line is, as I have said it before, if you are involved in a motorcycle accident, you should have a motorcycle accident lawyer.

Truthfully, I have a difficult time understanding why someone would go to a lawyer who doesn’t own, ride or even hang out with other bikers. In many situations my new client hasn’t even met the lawyer who is handling their claim. My assistant, Tammy, who has been with me going on 12 years now and who, along with her fiancé, also rides, always ends every letter she writes with …. “Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul”. In my humble opinion, if you are involved in a motorcycle accident you want an attorney who is also going to move your soul!

As always, if upon reading this material you have any questions regarding this topic or any others, please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or 1-888-CYCLE-LAW (1-888-292-5352). Sincerely,LEE D. GABER, EsquireThe one and only, “Cycle Attorney”

Lehigh Valley Tradition ContinuesBlocker’s Annual Fall Foliage Ride has a new homestory & photos by Norm Keller

The Blocker Family has held a long tradition of hosting an annual Fall Foliage Ride through the Pocono’s over the years. Denny Blocker, owner of Blocker Yamaha/Kawasaki in Lehighton, although in a new location didn’t want to let all his friends down.

This years event started from their new location and led riders on a scenic ride to end at the popular Knoebel’s Grove www.knoebels.com, located in Elysburg. It was about a 60 mile ride and well worth it.

Earlier this year Blocker moved the Yamaha/Kawasaki dealership from their old location in Parryville. A lot of work was done on the new showroom and service center before they moved in. There is a parking lot on the upper level, where the showroom is, and another much larger parking lot on the lower level.

As people arrived they registered on the porch/patio area and were provided some hot coffee and cookies. As always the ride is a self guided tour so people left in groups after they checked out the new showroom and met up with old friends.

Check out the new dealership at their new location and when you stop in be sure to tell Denny and his staff that the East Coast Biker told them to stop by.

Bike Night Burns Into The NightFirst year draws large crowdstory & photos by Norm Keller

Bikes night may come and bike nights may go, but it looks like Quakertown, PA has gotten off to a good start on what could become one of the biggest bike nights in the tri-state area. Earlier this year the plans began to form to invite the motorcycle community for a night gathering, sharing and bragging rights for the bike show trophy winning.

Led by the Quakertown Police & Fire Departments, Officer Watkins put the operation together to make the night a reality. It was a great job of organizing the event and making it easy for attendees to navigate through town.

Supporters included local business and bike shops including Dean’s Harley-Davidson and Trumbauer’s Victory Motorcycles. There were a good selection of vendors on hand and of course plenty of food to go around.

One of the things that makes this bike night a little different is that at the end of the night the Fire Department set off a bonfire, right there in the middle of town. It was a great sight as many stayed around for the torching.

Plans are already in the works for 2013 so keep an eye open and mark your calendar. The weather was perfect and everybody that attended had a great time.
