EASTER EGG PARADE BOWL

Surface Source- Turns In Time-1-800-840-1497--12 flat bowl-A120 Palette: Deco Art Antique Mauve Baby Blue Burnt Sienna Country Blue Golden Straw Gooseberry Hauser Dark Green Hi Lite Flesh Jade Light French Blue Milk Chocolate Moon Yellow Payne's Grey Sapphire Blue Sea Glass Silver Sage Green Spice Pink Titanium White Brushes: #2, #4, #6, #8, #10, #12, 1/2" 1"flats #1 liner 1/2" 1" mop Preparation: Basecoat the inside of the bowl with a mix of Light French Blue and Titanium White (1:1) Basecoat the outside and rim of the bowl with a mix of Light French Blue, Sapphire Blue, and Titanium White (1:1:1). Painting Instructions: BASECOATING/ SHADING EGGS- Yellow eggs- Basecoat with Moon Yellow, shade the inside edge of the egg closest to the center of the bowl with a float of Golden Straw. Pink eggs- Basecoat with Hi Lite Flesh and shade the inside edge with a float of Gooseberry Pink. Green eggs- Basecoat with Sea Glass and shade the inside edge with a float of Jade Green. Blue eggs- Basecoat with Baby Blue and shade the inside edge with a float of Sapphire Blue. Highlight all of the eggs on the opposite side with a float of Titanium White. We will further highlight the eggs after the details are painted on the eggs.

EGG TRIMS- #1 yellow egg- Using a liner brush, paint broad stripes of Sapphire Blue, wiggly lines of Antique Mauve inside of the blue lines. Thin Titanium White lines to the outside of the blue lines and dots of Spice Pink in the middle. #2 green egg- The stems and leaves are painted with Jade Green using a fine liner. The flowers are dots of Spice Pink with a center dot of White. #3 blue egg- the various size dots are Titanium White. #4 yellow egg- Using a fine liner the wiggly lines are Antique Mauve with stitching line between with Titanium White. #5 pink egg-Using a #6 flat, the broad stripes of the plaid are Antique Mauve. Using a fine liner the other stripes are Titanium White. #6 yellow egg- Using a #6 flat, the broad wiggly stripes are Purple Cow. Using a fine liner the stripes in between are Titanium White. #7 pink egg- Using a fine liner, paint tow lines across both ends of the egg with Gooseberry Pink. The crosshatching lines between the stripes are Titanium White with dots of Gooseberry Pink. #8 green egg--repeat #2 egg. #9 pink egg- using a fine liner, paint wiggly lines with Titanium White. HIGHLIGHTING, SHADING, AND SEPARATING EGGS- 1st highlight- using a large flat brush, reinforce the first highlight with a very soft side load float of Titanium White. 2nd Highlight- dampen the egg with clean water, dab on a small amount of Titanium White in the upper right quarter of each egg and softly mop the paint into the surface. This step may have to be repeated a couple of time to achieve a 'shine' highlight desired on each egg. The egg must be completely dry before repeating this step on that egg. Keep wiping your mop brush on a towel to remove excess moisture as you are mopping the highlights. Set Down Shading---Using a large flat side loaded into a small amount of Payne's Grey, shade below each eggs on the side toward the center of the bowl with a very sheer float to set them down into the surface. Separate the eggs. to create depth in the design, shade the eggs which fall behind other eggs with a soft sideload float of the their shade color and a touch of Payne's Grey. Yellow eggs- Golden Straw and a touch of Payne's Grey Pink eggs- Gooseberry and a touch of Payne's Grey Green eggs- Jade and a touch of Payne's Grey Blue eggs- Sapphire and a touch of Payne's Grey VINING AND LEAVES- Using a fine liner and thinned Milk Chocolate, pull loose vining around the base of the eggs to create a fine vining wreath. Using a #12 flat, double load with Hauser Dark Green and Sea Glass, blend well, paint one strokes leaves sparingly along the vining wreath. Shadow Leave- Using a #10 flat and thin Silver Sage Green, paint sheer one stroke leaves sparingly along the vining wreath. Tiny filler leaves- Using a #2 flat and Hauser Dark Green, paint small one stroke leaves randomly and also some groups of three leaves along the wreath to loosen the overall look of the design.

FLOWERS- Using a #8 flat, double load into Titanium White and Gooseberry. Keeping the white to the outside of the petals, paint petal strokes to form the flower petals. The flower centers are Moon Yellow, shaded with a float of Burnt Sienna and highlighted with a dot of Titanium White. Using a fine liner, the calyxes on partial flowers are Hauser Dark Green. BORDER TRIM- Using a #1 liner, and slightly thinned Titanium White, paint intersecting 's' strokes to form the strokework border around the rim of the bowl. Allow the painting to dry thoroughly. Erase any visible tracing lines. Varnish with three coats of your favorite satin acrylic varnish. Allow to dry 24 hours between coats.
