Cuarenta días y cuarenta noches ... esta Cuaresma fue tan larga como cualquier otra. Era tan larga como cualquier otra, y sin embargo la percibí más rápido que cualquier otro que haya experimentado. También fue la más difícil. Supongo que fue porque la vida está tan ocupada, o tal vez estoy envejeciendo. Siempre me dijeron que la vida acelera a medida que uno envejece. Independientemente de mi percepción, me dieron 40 días y 40 noches como todos los demás. Me arrepiento un poco de cómo utilicé el tiempo, pero sobre todo estoy agradecido por los frutos que acabo de ver. Nunca dejaré de maravillarme por la misericordia de Dios y su generosa Gracia. Nunca dejaré de estar agradecido con él por hacer grandes cosas, incluso a pesar de mi debilidad e infidelidad. Dios es bueno y fiel incluso cuando no lo somos. También me maravillo de la fidelidad del pueblo de Dios. Soy testigo y estoy agradecido por los muchos que continuamente expresaron su fe, amor y esperanza tan voluntariamente durante este viaje de seis semanas. Gracias por tu ejemplo. Me anima. Ha sido un honor caminar con ustedes, orar con ustedes y trabajar junto a ustedes. Mientras escribo esto, estamos a solo unas horas de celebrar la Resurrección del Señor. Espero la celebración. Espero con ansias el futuro y descubrimiento de las sorpresas que el Señor tiene para nosotros. Que continúe iluminando Su rostro sobre nosotros.

Forty days and forty nights…this Lent was as long as any other. It was as long as any other, and yet I perceived it as faster than any other I have ever experienced. It was also the hardest. I suppose it was because life is so busy, or maybe I’m getting older. I was always told that life speeds up the older you get. Regardless of my perception, I was given 40 days and 40 nights just like everyone else. I have some regrets in how I spent this time, but mostly I am grateful for the fruits I am now just seeing. I will never stop marveling at the mercy of God and his generous Grace. I will never stop being grateful to Him for bringing about great things even despite my weakness and infidelity. God is Good and faithful even when we are not. I marvel as well at the faithfulness of God’s people. I witness to and am grateful for the many who continually expressed their faith, love, and hope so willingly during this six-week journey. Thank you for your example. It brings me encouragement. It has been an honor to walk with you, to pray with you and to work alongside you. As I write this, we are only hours away from celebrating the Resurrection of the Lord. I look forward to the celebration. I look forward to the future and discovering what surprises the Lord has for us. May he continue to shine His face upon us.

This collection supports the Church in over 25 countries that are still struggling to recover in the aftermath of communist rule. Funds from this collection support pastoral care, catechesis, building renovations, and seminary formation. Your support restores the Church and builds the future in this region.
