We have in our midst a true computer guru, DaveBowles, owner of Bowco Computer Services, located in Lancaster at 203 Military Road. Dave attended university studying Biology and fooledaround with an Apple II computer. When his professors asked him where he found the programfor the detailed graphs he was handing in for hislabs, he casually answered, “I wrote it.” They simply asked, “If you can do this, why are you taking Biology?” He thought about it, agreed, andquit university. Computer languages were secondnature for him. Dave signed up for a computercourse at St. Lawrence College. At that time, thetextbook for 1st and 2nd years were one. Dave absorbed all the information as soon as possibleand was bored for 2nd year. He quit college andwent to work for a friend in his computer store. Hehad the opportunity to visit his uncle in Yellowk-nife and forgot to come back!

Dave worked for a computer store in Yellowknifeas a computer sales manager but mostly did thetechnician's job. When they were unable to pay himfor the position he was doing, he found work atFirst Air instead. He worked there from 2001-2004,

flying around fixing computers. Meanwhile hestarted his company Bowco Computer Services, in2003.

While Dave was enjoying his life up north, his wifewasn't. He worked from home mostly while hiswife, Sally worked as a legal secretary. Dave hadhis winter toys; a snowmobile and a 4 wheeler andhe enjoyed fishing and hunting in the evening, butafter a few years of feeling abandoned in this whitedesert, his wife refused to spend another winter in the North. In 2010, they came back south and settled in Maxville and he opened the store in Lancaster.

Bowco Computer Services is still well respected in Yellowknife. Dave drives up every few monthsto service his clients who want his personal touch. Although, he has a technician working for him in Yellowknife, and Dave is able to fix his client's computers remotely, some of his clients still want him to stop by in person. He also did 52 radio shows, and has a helpful website www.bowcomp.com. His favourite referral is“Dave is the Best Tech in and out of Yellowknife!”

What can Dave do for you? He can remotely service your computer-no need to unplug the tangleof cables from your tower. Dave offers a serviceplan to keep your computer running, as well as incident repairs and an hourly rate. He fixes hard-ware and software problems, can set up your network and teach you tutorials on your system.Dave has the rare ability of being able to explaincomputers in plain English.
