Ford is differentDespite industry and economic challenges, we are

continuing to successfully execute our product led transformation.

This is evident in our recent May sales results, where once again we’ve increased our retail market share. In seven out of the last eight months, we’ve increased our retail share when compared with the same period last year.

In addition, with sales totaling more than 155,000 vehicles, May was also the highest sales month for us since July 2008.

The all-new Fusion continues to set records, with more than 19,700 Fusions sold in May. The Ford Flex and our combined hybrid sales of Fusion, Milan, Escape and Mariner, also set records in May.

We are all familiar with the challenges facing General Motors and Chrysler, as well as the recent actions they have taken to restructure their respective organizations.

At Ford, our transformation plan is working and we will continue to proactively work with all of our stakeholders to stay ahead of the competitive environment. We will also make the tough decisions necessary to emerge from this economic climate a stronger company.

Let’s continue to spread the word that Ford is different; we have a plan; and our plan is working.

Thank you for your continued hard work and commitment to Ford Motor Company.

Ford Mustang scores top rating in government safety test

The 2010 Ford Mustang coupe earned the U.S. government’s top 5-star crash-test rating.

The new Mustang uses high-strength steel in its body structure and ultra high-strength steel in its door beams for additional side-impact protection.

Both the coupe and the convertible benefit from a stiffer body structure and have specially designed front-end crush zones to absorb and dissipate crash energy to protect the occupants.

The latest safety results add further acclaim for America’s favorite pony car, which has long been the leader in the retail sports car segment.

Lincoln MKZ: Top safety pick rating by Insurance Institute

The 2010 Lincoln MKZ midsize sedan has earned a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

The new MKZ has stronger, tailor-welded B-pillars between its front and rear doorframes and features Ford’s first use of dual-phase high-strength steel rails in its front end. It also has front-seat side air bags and side-curtain air bags for head protection in both rows.

The MKZ rating further solidifies Ford’s position as the industry leader in the number of Top Safety Picks.

Sales

Customer demand for new products in May helped Ford post its highest monthly U.S. sales volume since July 2008 and its best market share since 2006 – without increased incentive spending.

“At Ford, the future is now,” said Ken Czubay, vice president, Sales and Marketing. “New products account for 50 percent of our sales, and demand for these products is driving our market share gains.”

While Ford, Lincoln and Mercury sales declined 24 percent in May, they outperformed an estimated 33 percent industry decline. As a result, Ford’s overall market share rose to about 16 percent. In addition, total Ford Motor Company sales were 155,954, up 20 percent from April.

Sales of the Ford Fusion were 19,786, Ford Flex sales were 4,305 and sales of the company’s hybrid vehicles totaled 3,906, setting three new sales records. Lincoln’s new sedans, the MKZ and MKS, helped the luxury brand post a 2 percent sales increase.

Fusion sales were up 9 percent, with customers opting for the more expen-sive Sport, SEL and Hybrid models.

“We can’t get enough of them,” said Ron Zintak, sales manager for Art Hill Ford in Merrillville, Ind. “The 2010

Fusion looks like a winner for us.”Senior Economist Emily Kolinski

Morris says the company expects vehicle sales to strengthen in the second half of 2009. Based on that plus tightly controlled inventories and consumer reception for its new products, Ford is boosting second-quarter production by 10,000 vehicles and third-quarter production by 42,000 vehicles compared to year-ago levels.

After driving Ford Crown Victorias as taxis in San Francisco for 20 years, Wilmar Fernandes was concerned about switching to a new 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid.

He questioned whether the car had the power to handle the hills of San Francisco with the same aplomb as the larger Crown Victoria. It turns out he was right.

“It doesn’t perform the same. It performs better. I am in love with this car,” gushed Fernandes. “The drive is so comfortable and so smooth that you just don’t want to stop driving.

“And I still cannot believe how economical my new Ford Fusion Hybrid is. I’m easily saving 60 to 70 percent on gas.”

Fernandes owns his own car and drives as an independent contractor for Yellow Cab Cooperative of San Francisco, which recently ordered 40 Fusion Hybrids.

General Manager Hal Mellegard says Yellow Cab chose Fusion Hybrids for several reasons: To comply with a local green taxi-fleet mandate by 2011, to meet roof-height requirements in certain areas of San Francisco International Airport and because of the cab company’s success with Ford Escape Hybrids.

The company has had well over 100 Escape Hybrids in operation, dating back to 2004. More than a dozen recently completed service, each logging about 300,000 miles before being replaced.

“We’re famous for our hills, and the toll it takes it on vehicles,” said Mellegard. “Three hundred thousand miles in San Francisco are rough miles from going over hills at 30 miles an hour where the front wheels get 4 inches off the

ground – that kind of stuff – over and over. The Escape Hybrids have held up better than expected. If they didn’t hold up, we wouldn’t use them.”

And they wouldn’t have ordered the Fusions.

Paul Gillespie doesn’t need convincing. He’s spent more than four years behind the wheel of an Escape Hybrid for Yellow Cab Cooperative.

“I really love this vehicle. It gets better and better every year, and it’s helped us save thousands of dollars for drivers,” he said. “More than that, it’s helped us reach our greenhouse gas reduction goals.”

Gillespie says customers love the idea of hybrid taxis and that he has at least a half dozen conversa-tions per shift with customers about the Escape Hybrid.

Fernandes is experiencing the same interest in his Fusion Hybrid. He says customers have requested to see the engine, the trunk and even sit in his seat to experience the driver comfort.

Perhaps the most interesting reaction came from one of Fernandes’ friends who recently purchased a Nissan Altima Hybrid.

“He saw me in my new Ford Fusion Hybrid and was amazed,” recalled Fernandes. “He said, ‘Why didn’t I wait a little longer

so I could have bought a Ford Fusion Hybrid?’”

Fernandes is so pleased with his new Fusion Hybrid, he even sent a note to San Francisco Ford Lincoln Mercury, from whom he purchased the vehicle.

“My new Ford Fusion Hybrid is everything that I expected from it and more,” he wrote. “I feel like I couldn’t have made a better choice.”

The machinery is different – it’s modernized and computerized.

The manufacturing systems have changed, too; they’re leaner, greener and more flexible, offering increased production options.

Even the work methods have been altered, focusing more on employee empowerment and ergonomics.

But the real difference behind the changes at so many Ford assembly plants is more than physical. It’s symbolic of the way Ford is transforming – changing not only its vehicle lineup and production methods, but its entire way of doing business.

The change is about enhancing quality, emphasizing technology, and perhaps most importantly, investing in the future of American car manufacturing to bring consumers the vehicles they want to drive.

Piece by piece, plant by plant, Ford is building its future.

Kentucky Truck Plant, Louisville, Ky.

Ford has completed a U.S. $200 million investment in the retooling of its 40-year-old Kentucky Truck Plant for production of the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator, which had been produced in Wayne, Mich.

The retooling includes the installation of a flexible body shop that allows the plant to produce the more fuel-efficient SUVs alongside the popular Ford F-Series Super Duty pickups.

Nearly 450 Ford employees transferred to Kentucky Truck Plant to support the change, which paved the way for the conversion of the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Mich.

Michigan Assembly Plant, Wayne, Mich.

Ford is investing $550 million to transform the former Michigan Truck Plant from a large SUV factory into a modern and flexible small car plant. The investment will support approximately 3,200 jobs at the plant.

Formerly the production site for Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs, the plant is being retooled to build fuel-efficient global small cars in the coming years.

Production of the new global Ford Focus for the North American market will begin next year at the plant, followed in 2011 by production of a battery-electric Focus, which will be built

alongside the gasoline-engine version. The battery elecFocus will help Ford meet its promise of delivering four new electric vehicles in the U.S. by 2012.

At the heart of the plant’s manufacturing transformation is a flexible body shop operation, which uses reprogrammable tooling in the body shop, standardized equipment in the paint shop and a common-build sequence in final assembly, enabling production of multiple models in the same plant.

Opened in 1957, the plant formerly built Ford station wagon bodies, the Ford Bronco and Ford F-150.

Cleveland Engine Plant No. 1, Brook Park, Ohio

Last month, Ford reopened this plant to produce the new 3.5-liter EcoBoost engines, which debut this summer in the 2010 Lincoln MKS, Lincoln MKT, Ford Taurus SHO and Ford Flex.

Approximately 250 employees returned to the plant, which had been idled in 2007, to build the advanced, fuel-efficient engines,

which are a key step in Ford’s plan to deliver leading fuel-economy across millions of vehicles.

The plant has been outfitted with a flexible powertrain manufacturing system that can be easily reprogrammed to perform new tasks with minimal disruption to production.

As part of the plant’s $55 million retooling, a new production database will provide a “birth history” for each engine, tracking hundreds of metrics and allowing any quality control issues to be quickly and accurately isolated.

Since opening in 1951, Cleveland Engine Plant No. 1 has produced more than 35 million engines, including the renowned “351 Cleveland” series and more than 24 million engines in the famed 302 and 5.0-liter V-8 family.

Cuautitlan Assembly Plant, Cuautitlan Izcalli, Mexico

Extensive changes to the Cuautitlan Assembly Plant near Mexico City have prepared it to produce the Ford Fiesta for North American customers, beginning in 2010. As part of this

transformation, construction is underway of an integrated stamping plant at Cuautitlan.

The plant, which opened in 1964, has been converted from its production of F-Series pickups for the Mexican market to build small cars for North America.

The Chihuahua Engine Plant, Chihuahua, which builds I-4 engines, also will assemble diesel engines for light- and medium-duty trucks in a variety of global markets.

In addition, through a joint venture with Getrag (GFT), Ford will establish a new transmission plant in Guanajuato to support various Ford products.

The moves are expected to create approximately 4,500 Ford jobs.

– John Fossen contributed to this story

“ This is about investing in modern, efficient and flexible American manufacturing.”

– Alan Mulally, president and CEO, at the Michigan Assembly Plant

The process also included reopening Cleveland Engine Plant No. 1 to build EcoBoost engines and building a stamping plant at the Cuautitlan Assembly Plant.

The popularity of Ford SYNC® hit a milestone recently when the 1 millionth vehicle with the system was delivered to a customer.

And the man who bought the car? Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.

It makes sense as the SYNC system in the Ice Blue 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid was powered by Microsoft Auto software. The fact that Ballmer’s father was a 30-year Ford employee

made the choice even easier.Delivering the car to Microsoft’s

campus outside Seattle was Ford CEO Alan Mulally.

As the cameras snapped and rolled, Ballmer jogged up and greeted Mulally who handed over the keys .

“This is awesome. It’s beautiful, man,” Ballmer said, looking over his new car.

SYNC is Ford’s voice-activated, in-car communications and entertainment system for Bluetooth enabled mobile phones and digital music players. Since its 2007 debut on the Ford Focus, SYNC has become so popular that now more than 80 percent of the vehicles that Ford sells in North America are equipped with the system.

In 2008, SYNC was upgraded to provide a Vehicle Health Report and 911 Assist™ and more applications are on the way. Ford’s latest application – Traffic, Directions and Information – became available in late May.

That the 1 millionth SYNC-equipped vehicle is a 2010 Fusion Hybrid is only fitting since the car is the most fuel-efficient midsize car in America, with a certified 41 mpg rating in the city, topping the Toyota Camry Hybrid by 8 mpg.

Since Mulally and Ballmer talked at a trade show earlier this year, Ballmer also has purchased a new Ford Flex.

And, he told the media, he’s looking forward to getting a new Lincoln MKS next.

Combining a direct injection gasoline engine with twin turbochargers, EcoBoost delivers the fuel economy and lower emissions of a V-6 with the performance of a V-8.

“The beauty of EcoBoost is that it enables us to downsize for fuel efficiency, yet boost for power,” said Derrick Kuzak, group vice president, Global Product Development.

Starting this summer, EcoBoost becomes available in the Ford Taurus SHO, the Ford Flex, the Lincoln MKS sedan and the all-new Lincoln MKT crossover.

By 2013, more than 90 percent of Ford’s North American nameplates, from the workhorse Ford F-150 which gets a version of the engine next year to the compact Ford Focus will be available with EcoBoost engines.

Kuzak said offering EcoBoost is part of Ford’s goal to deliver fuel economy leadership in every new vehicle by providing affordable technology on the largest number of cars, trucks and crossovers.

Brett Hinds, manager, Advanced Engine Design and Development, said the new V-6 EcoBoost improves gas mileage by 10 to 20 percent over a V-8 engine of similar power.

In the 2010 Lincoln MKS, the new 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine offers the power and torque

comparable to a 4.6-liter V-8, while keeping the fuel economy of the smaller V-6 powerplant.

The MKS with EcoBoost will deliver at least 24 mpg highway and produce 355 horsepower.

Best of all, customers can expect that V-8 like performance on regular 87 octane fuel rather than premium gas like many com-petitive vehicles, a further savings.

EcoBoost technology also will make it possible for a fuel-sipping 4-cylinder engine to have the punch of a V-6.

The Focus-sized Lincoln C Concept that debuted at the 2009 North American International Auto Show was powered by a small 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine that offered a projected 43 mpg on the highway while pumping out an estimated 180 horsepower.

That bests the current Focus equipped with a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine by nearly 25 percent in highway mileage while offering the performance of a “pocket rocket.”

Cover story

By Cliff PetersTo ensure the water-cooled

turbochargers used on Ford’s new EcoBoost engines were the right choice, Ford engineers put the EcoBoost V-6 through rigorous and intense testing, well beyond what most engines would ever face.

The testing was crucial because turbochargers on an engine operate at extremely high speeds and high temperatures – up to 170,000 rpm and 1,700 degrees Fahrenheit.

In one test, engineers ran EcoBoost flat-out at maximum boost for a 10-minute period – until the turbos glowed orange-hot. Then, the cooling was shut down and the engine was allowed to “bake” before another run was started.

This cycle was repeated 1,500 times without an oil change before the turbos were cut open for a detailed inspection. They passed with flying colors.

But that wasn’t the end of it. Back in the dynamometer lab, the

3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 completed a grueling 362-hour test with extended periods at full boost and peak power.

That’s the equivalent of running the 24 Hours of Daytona race – for more than 15 days straight.

EcoBoost again passed the test, ensuring customers that the new engine requires no special treatment for its reliable operation. EcoBoost owners can pull in their driveways and switch off just like any other engine, and there are no special or shorter oil-change intervals.

EcoBoost’s extreme durability testing

How EcoBoost worksEcoBoost uses the engine’s four cycles to do more with less:

1 Intake strokeUnder pressure from the twin turbochargers, air flows into the cylinders from the intake valves while fuel is strategically injected into the cylinders in small, precise amounts.

2 Compression strokeAs the fuel vaporizes and mixes with the air, the charge is cooled, resulting in reduced knocking tendencies and enabling higher compression ratios.

3 Power strokeCompared to conventional port injection, direct injection produces a denser charge, resulting in the production of greater power.

4 Exhaust strokeSpent gases are pushed through the exhaust valves, where they are routed to the turbochargers for the efficient conversion of exhaust gases into energy to drive the turbochargers.

Going beyond fuel efficiency and what’s under the hood, Ford designers and researchers are taking a total green approach by incorporating more sustainable materials and processes inside the vehicle, too.

“Wherever petroleum-based materials exist – in plastic, rubber, foam, film or fabric – we are

looking to minimize its proportion and replace it with a sustainable material,” said Dr. Cynthia Flanigan, technical expert, Ford Plastics Research.

For example, Ford’s award-winning soy-based foam seat cushions and backs will be on more than 1 million Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles by the end of this year, leading to a total reduction in carbon dioxide emissions of more than 5 million pounds.

Most recently, Ford announced that the all-new 2010 Ford Taurus SHO, Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ will feature sustainable interior materials such as seat fabrics made with varying degrees of post-industrial yarns, suede-

like material created from plastic pop bottles, chromium-free leather and engineered ebony wood, all of which reduce waste, energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

Featuring a lower-impact water-based stain, the recycled and engineered ebony wood will be featured on the Lincoln Navigator, MKX and MKS.

To ensure these measures resonate with customers, Ford designers work to understand the different levels of green consumerism. Statistics show that one in four adults in the U.S. are living more sustainable lifestyles, are interested in companies that are more socially responsible and

are buying products that are healthier for people and the planet.

Designers also are examining the most expressive way to use these materials in

vehicle interiors and how they best represent each vehicle brand, said Carol Kordich, designer, Corporate Design.

Customers expect suede to look and feel like suede even if it’s made from plastic bottles. Interior wood accents, a common luxury-car cue, must exhibit rich colors and textures, whether they are derived from a natural veneer or a more eco-friendly reconstituted wood veneer.

The challenge is to develop alternative interior materials that do not compromise function or durability, and that can be made in more eco-friendly ways to

decrease our use of foreign oil

and that also are cost effective. No material is ignored as a

possible substitute for interior applications, from recycled blue jeans and plastic pop bottles to such natural materials as corn, hemp, soybeans and wheat straw.

Soy-based foams are now used in the seats of the Ford Expedition, F-150, Focus, Escape and Escape Hybrid, Mustang, Mercury Mariner and Lincoln MKS. By using soy foam seats in more than 1 million vehicles annually, Ford has cut its petroleum use by more than 1 million pounds a year.

This year, the industry’s first soy foam headliner will be used on the 2010 Escape and Mariner.

The use of post-industrial recycled yarns in seat fabrics, from the Escape to the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan Hybrids, represents a 64 percent reduction in energy consumption and 60 percent reduction in CO2 emissions.

In addition, all North American 2009 Ford products use under-body shields made from post-consumer recycled resins such as detergent bottles, tires and battery casings, diverting more than 25 million pounds of plastics from landfills.

With their first missions of travel behind them, the 100 Fiesta Movement agents have embarked on their second monthly missions to introduce Ford’s new small car to North America.

This time, the lucky 100, who were chosen from more than 4,000 entrants who submitted applications to test-drive the Ford Fiesta for six months, are visiting companies across the U.S. that are developing state-of-the-art technologies.

This close-up look will take them inside places few have been, at the happenings of some of the hottest technology names such as Pandora and Twitter.

As with their first missions, the Fiesta agents will then relate their experiences through a variety of social media sites. Visitors can follow the agents at www.fiestamovement.com.People are taking notice

After kicking off the movement in May by taking the keys to 100

European-built Fiestas and setting off, the agents have created a big impression in the social media world.

In the first month alone, they garnered about 1 million video views on YouTube, more than 180,000 photo views on Flickr and more than 1,500 mini-messages or “tweets” on Twitter.

“Our agents are clearly demonstrating how powerful they are at delivering unique content to their friends and followers in the social arena,” said Sam De La Garza, brand manager, Fiesta.

Agents also are telling their daily Fiesta stories in creative ways and showing off every aspect of their journey.

These have included:• one agent who showed off the

roominess of the Fiesta trunk by loading it up with old electronic equipment to take to the recycler.

• a pair of agents who documented a familiar experience with the Fiesta – people stopping them on the street to get more information about the car.

• agents who traveled to unique places across the U.S., including driving their Fiesta through a giant California redwood and parking it next to the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.

• one agent who thought his Fiesta was stolen, only to learn that the city had towed it and then claimed it hadn’t,

even after a friend scaled a wall to snap a photo of the car in the city’s impound lot.June missions: Technology

The agents’ June missions include:

• visiting the Pandora office to attend an in-house concert and learn how Pandora records music live to stream it online.

• celebrating Twitter at the “140 Character Conference” – named for how many letters and numbers can fit in a Twitter message – where they will meet expert users and learn new social networking tricks.

• finding a new product that hasn’t been featured on the humorous Internet series “Will It Blend?” and delivering it to the Blendtec headquarters in Utah.

There will be other missions in the months ahead as Ford prepares for the North American launch of the Fiesta in early 2010.Fiesta sales success

Since its launch in Europe last year, the all-new Fiesta has become the fastest-selling Fiesta there in the car’s 33-year history, selling 43,000 cars there in April alone.

The Fiesta is also a sales success in Asia where it went on sale earlier this year.

Transit Connect helps bring books to kids

Children in Tampa, Florida, are getting more chances to read, thanks to Jennifer Frances, the CBS News Early Show and Ford.

Frances, the founder of “Bess the Book Bus,” was surprised to receive a new customized 2010 Ford Transit Connect to aid the literacy outreach program she started seven years ago. Since then, she’s given away an estimated 30,000 books a year to under-privileged kids.

“Nobody makes a better truck than Ford … plus it’s more compact so it will be easier to drive than my old van. The kids will love her,” said Frances.

She was selected by the show as part of an “angels” series that celebrates people who show courage and selflessness in the face of adversity.

Ford Mustang, F-150 picked as top road trip cars of 2009

The 2010 Ford Mustang convertible and the 2009 Ford F-150 are the two of the best vehicles to take along on a summer trip, say the editors of Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com.

For fun in the sun, nothing beats a soft-top Mustang. “It spells a rousing good time,” said Jack Nerad, of Kelley Blue Book and kbb.com.

The editors also singled out the F-150 for vacationers planning to tow a trailer or anything else that requires a hitch. “This truck meets the needs of even the most hard-core towing fanatics,” said Nerad.

Ford outscores Honda in latest owner survey

Ford vehicles topped Honda in a recent AutoPacific survey that measures the percentage of owners who would recommend their current vehicles to others.

Ford captured six segment winners – Ford F-150, F-Series Super Duty, Flex, Edge, Mustang and Lincoln Navigator – while Honda captured three. General Motors and Chrysler each recorded two winners.

The survey was based on responses from more than 25,000 consumers who purchased or leased new cars or light trucks from September 2008 to December 2008.

Programs

To help promote Ford as a technological innovator, a maker of fuel-efficient vehicles and to demonstrate a continuing concern for the environment, there’s a new badge in town – Blue Lane Solutions.

An update of Ford’s 17-year-old “road and leaf” badge, the Blue Lane Solutions symbol helps underline the fact that the Blue Oval has been green since, well, the last century.

“It was first used in 1992 so it has tremendous equity, but needed an update for the 21st Century to create a global umbrella to support and symbolize all of Ford’s ‘green’ technologies,” said Rick Novak, manager, Global Cross Vehicle Marketing Strategy.

“Blue Lane Solutions is not one thing – it reinforces all of what

we’re doing, whether it’s a hybrid, EcoBoost, Flex Fuel, clean diesel or electric,” he said.

“As we move to democratize these technologies in larger numbers across the portfolio, it’s a great symbol to communicate a consistent message around

the globe,” said Novak.Ford will use the new badge

on a wide variety of upcoming products, beginning with the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO and the Lincoln MKS, both of which have the new EcoBoost engines.

History

In the 1950s, Ford’s Factory Delivery Department created the “Drive-Away Program” which allowed customers to come to Detroit to pick up their new Ford vehicles in person.

Under the deal, customers would not incur the shipping charges on their vehicle and often, these savings were enough to cover their trip expenses.

Besides picking up their new Ford, they also could take a vacation, visiting such popular spots as the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, the Rotunda as well as touring the Rouge Assembly Plant.

One customer who did just that in June 1955 was Wilford

Broderick, a bee farmer from Emery, Utah, a small town 200 miles south of Salt Lake City.

While ordering his new Ford pickup, he told his dealer that someday, he’d like to see the Ford plant in Dearborn. After his dealer told him about the drive-away program, Broderick and his wife flew in from Utah for their drive-away vacation.

“When we got to Detroit, they practically rolled out the red carpet for us,” Broderick later wrote. Ford staffers even made the couple’s hotel reservations for them.

“Throughout our whole stay, they did everything possible to make our vacation pleasant. They sure gave us some wonderful memories,”

said Broderick.The couple toured

the Rouge assembly line, the Rotunda and the Henry Ford Museum. Then they went to the Factory Delivery building on Jefferson Avenue just east of downtown Detroit to take delivery of their “spanking new” Ford F-100.

Before he and his wife drove back to Utah, Broderick offered this advice: “Next time you want a vacation, pick up your pickup in Detroit.”

Ford no longer has a drive away program and there’s no word what happened to Broderick’s truck but the factory delivery building is now part of a Ford dealership.

Fiesta and Focus lead Europe sales as market share increases

Ford is continuing to increase its European market share, thanks to the hot-selling new Ford Fiesta and strong sales of the Ford Focus.

For the month of April, Ford increased its market share to 9 percent and its year-to-date market share to 9.3 percent, amid a 16.5 percent decline in European vehicle sales.

In April, 43,000 Fiestas were sold while the Focus logged 24,000 in sales and the new Ford Ka sold 9,100 units in the first few weeks after its launch in the main 19 European markets.

Since it was introduced last fall, almost 213,000 Fiestas have been registered, making it the fastest-selling Fiesta ever.

Indonesian media touts Focus not once – but twice in May

The new Ford Focus just captured prestigious awards from the biggest car tabloid and the leading auto magazine in Indonesia.

The five-door Focus drove off with the Best Medium Hatchback award and the 2.0 TDCi model took the Most Innovative Car Special Award given by the Otomotif tabloid after a jury of leading car specialists weighed the Focus against its competition.

The Focus was also recently named The Best Medium Hatchback by TopGear Indonesia magazine, while the new Escape scooped the Best SUV Gasoline award.
