The Plug & Play solution lets you retrofit the latest generation of Masterpact MTZ circuit breakers in the existing Masterpact M chassis.The standard Masterpact MTZ is adapted in the factory for installation in a Masterpact M chassis.More than just a replacement... ECOFIT™ Plug & Play solution brings all the benefits of the Masterpact MTZ range, including the advanced features of Micrologic X control units.

A Plug & Play solution can only be implemented with Masterpact M chassis in full working order, please see section A-9 for details.

AInstallation in 2 steps by qualified personnel

b The original Masterpact M chassis is first modified to receive the Plug & Play device.

b The factory-adapted Plug & Play Masterpact MTZ is then installed in the modified Masterpact M chassis.

On-site retrofit operations are easy to implement

1. Replacement of the original drawer side platesTwo new side plates are installed in place of the original plates on the Masterpact M chassis.

2. Replacement of the the auxiliary wiring connector plateMasterpact MTZ functions are pre-wired. The required functions may be connected on-site using the supplied wiring instructions.

b The switchboard door requires no modifications. b The original escutcheon and cutout are used for the new device. b The only modifications required are the replacement of the drawer side plates and the auxiliary wiring connector plate.

b These changes make it impossible to install a Masterpact M or standard Masterpact MTZ in the modified chassis, only a factory-adapted Plug & Play Masterpact MTZ can be installed.

ABefore ordering a Plug & Play solution, check the condition of the chassis as indicated below.

Visual inspectionCheck overall condition. Look for visible cracks.

Check for any bent or distorted parts that could hinder insertion of the Masterpact circuit breaker.

Measure the diagonals to make sure the chassis is not distorted or warped. Squareness chassis ±3 mm.

ECOFIT™ - Plug & Play solution requires Masterpact M chassis in full working order.If the chassis is bent or damaged, a Plug & Play solution is not possible and the Masterkit solution must be used.

Check the contact clusters. If they are in good condition, clean and lubricate them. If not, replace them.

Schneider Electric has developed dedicated diagnostic tool (ProDiag Cluster) to check clusters condition

Mechanical interlocking for source changeoverWhen replacing a Masterpact M using a Masterkit solution (fixed or drawout):

b Mechanical interlocking between Masterpact M and MTZ devices is forbidden.

b Both Masterpact M devices must be replaced as well as the corresponding interlocking system.

When replacing a Masterpact M using a Plug & Play solution (drawout): b Mechanical interlocking is carried out on the Masterpact M chassis. b A Masterpact M may interlocked with a Plug & Play device if indicated when ordering.

Electrical interlocking for source changeover b Electrical interlocking is possible between Masterpact M and MTZ devices. b The same components are used, i.e. IVE unit, BA and UA automatic controllers.

3-pole breakers equipped with external neutralcurrent sensorWhen replacing a Masterpact M by a Masterpact MTZ using a Plug & Play or Masterkit solution:

b The current transformer used with the STR control unit is not compatible with Micrologic control units

b A new current transformer compatible with Masterpact MTZ must be added.

This requires total disconnection of the busbars prior to working on the external CT. b In case of distribution network with several circuit breakers with ground fault protection, change all circuit breakers and their external CT's.
