V. QUALITY CONTROL

A. No grease shall be used during steam traps and compact manifolds assembly and testing as specified by API 598.

B. Inspection

All steam traps and compact manifolds covered by the Material Requisition are subject to inspection both during the manufacture and before shipment ,by Purchaser and/or its Client or an Approved Inspection Authority.

C. Normal Tests

1. All steam traps and compact manifolds, including those in accordance to Manufacturer's Standards, shall be tested by Manufacturer in accordance with applicable code, and in particular:

1. Check of chemical and mechanical properties of the material used 2. Dimensional check 3. Pressure test of body bonnet

2. The hydrostatic test liquid shall be water with the addition of wetting agent.

3. When stainless steel steam traps are to be tested using water as the test liquid, potable water with a chloride content less than 30 ppm shall be used to obviate stress corrosion cracking. After test the steam traps shall be carefully drained and air blown.

4. Ends of forged BW steam traps and compact manifolds shall be 100% MT or LP examined.

5. Welds on nippled SW steam traps and compact manifolds shall be 100% MT/LP examined.

6. If any, flange to body socket or butt weld joints shall be 100% MT or LP examined

D. Additional Test

The following additional test shall be made only if expressly mentioned in this Eng. Std. or in Material Requisition:

1. Radiographic examination of the weld joining the flanges to the body of the steam traps.

2. Magnetic particle or liquid penetration examination of steam traps body.

E. Final Test

1. Purchaser reserve the right to inspect the steam traps and and compact manifolds including the use of regular inspection equipment.

F. Certification

1. It is the Vendor's responsibility to ensure that all materials used in the manufacture of steam traps and compact manifolds comply with the requirements of the relevant specifications.
