Creativity in Problem Solving• Creativity in problem solving is the ability to
produce original works or solutions to problems that are productive.

• Divergent thinking: ability to generate a variety of alternate, original solutions to questions and problems
• 2 Characteristics of divergent thinkers
• 1. they possess a great deal of domain-specific knowledge
• 2. they are strongly intrinsically motivated

Fostering Creativity in learners
Here are some suggestions/ tips:1. Help learners develop their domain specific knowledge2. Create a safe learning environment where students feel free to risk offering unique ideas and opinions3. Communicate that creativity is valued. express enthusiasm in response to unusual ideas, and reward students for original thinking4. When assessing learning, avoid social comparisons, increase the number of assessments to reduce the pressure on any single one, and emphasize its role in promoting learning
Problem-Based Learning- it is a teaching strategy that uses problems as the focus for developing content, skills, and self-regulation
Problem based learning activities have the following characteristics:• Lessons begin with a problem, and solving it is the lesson focus• Students are responsible for designing strategies and finding solutions to the problem. Groups need to be small enough so that all are involved• The teacher guides student’s efforts with questioning and other forms of scaffolding
