FISH WEIGHT COMPETITIONS If you are a member and “have caught the big one” have it weighed! The club has competitions running throughout the year. To enter the competitions, weigh tickets must be presented to the Weigh master. Our major competition is for the Heaviest Fish. The weight of the heaviest fish I a nominated list of species is recorded for the period from 1 July to 30 June. There are four categories in this competition: Men, Ladies, Boys and Girls. The angler who catches the heaviest fish in a species in each category during the year receives a trophy at our presentation night. The angler from any category who catches the largest number of heaviest fish is awarded the club champion trophy.
Also form within this competition, one fish is selected by the committee in each of the categories (Men, Ladies, Boys and Girls) each year for
the Most Meritorious Fish award.
The second competition is our Fish of the Month competition. This competition has three categories, Men, Ladies and Juniors. At the beginning
of the year, a nominated species of fish is chosen for each month as the fish of the Month. The list is published in the Newsletter and on the
Website. In any month, the angler submitting a weigh ticket for the heaviest nominated fish in a category is awarded a cash prize.
The angler with the heaviest fish is also awarded 3 points, the angler with the next heaviest fish receives 2 points, and all angles submitting a
weigh ticket for the species of the month receive 1 point. Points are tallied throughout the year and an All Rounder Award is presented to the
angler scoring the highest number of points by the end of the year, for Seniors (from Men and Ladies) and for Juniors (from Boys and Girls).

PRESIDENTS REPORT AUGUST 2016
New committee members are Emma Field, Louise Cochrane and Corey
Walker, and Val Cartledge has stepped into the very important position of Sponsorship Co-
ordinator. Val will be looking for help, not only from committee members but from you members
as well. Another change will see the return of Gordon Rugg as Weigh Master following Rod`s
decision to stand down. Thanks Rod for your two years in the position. For the full committee
list see page 2.
Found a Treasurer : In a huge boost for us Matt Jorgensen our local Commonwealth Bank
manager has taken up the position. Matt, his wife Stacy and children Jack Ava and Flynn have
been members for a while but we have seen little of them we hope that changes now.
Rebecca Hinson with
Logan, gets her trophy
The Junior Boys section was dominated by the Carson boys with Flynn and Lachlan taking out 10
of the 18 fish. Harley Walker Dillon Anderson and James Janson shared the rest. Alanna
Paterson took home the big trophy for the girls, Emma Inge the only other winner in the girls
section. The inaugural Measure and release Bream competition winner was Andrew Carson with
a 39 cm to fork of tail stud Bream. They took home a nice few awards the Carson mob!
And so it all starts again, Fritz has come off the blocks hard, after his disappointing effort in
the snapper month, and the Carson boys have got Pop hop`n as the fishweight sheet will
indicate. On a recent Trout fishing trip their father offered up $20 for the biggest Trout
they could catch thinking that Trout were not that easy to come by.. No trouble for the boys
though he was rapidly relieved of his cash.
Fish of the month July: While all of the good Drummer fisher persons were lolling around in
the sun in Queensland, sly old Bobnalong saw an opportunity to win twenty bucks so he snuck out
to North Head and plucked out a little Drummer to win the prize. Tally up the cost of burley,
.
Hi all,
The AGM is now behind us and we are off and running for the next year
with all committee positions taken up at the AGM except the important
one of Treasurer. We hope to find one soon
Treasurer. .
Alanna Paterson
Best Girl Angler
AGM & Awards Presentations : These were dominated by the usual
culprits, Gordon Rugg was the most successful male angler and Club
Champion. Jenny Rugg landed the most species for the ladies while
Gloria Sebley went very close to taking out the Championship showing
that it is very possible that one of the fairer gender will one day take
out the top award. Over all the ladies performed extremely well
catching the best of six of the species list and going very close in a
few others. We have the Gender Bender coming up so take note guys!

a couple of lost floats and other bits & pieces and petrol for a thirsty V6 and the result lends
weight to the suggestion that it`s time we looked at upping the prize.
Fish of the month September, Trevally. This kicks off the Estuary fishing season and while
it could still be cool, enthusiasts will begin to get the urge for the weeks ahead .
New Members: The committee welcomes new members Aidan Death, his partner Samantha
and sons Ethan & Lachlan and another new member David Tweedale who is getting his boat
tuned up and we might see him around soon.
First meeting: A full table sat in what was a productive meeting but time ran out before we
reached the end of a long agenda. One priority item that was not addressed was the review of
fish of the month prizes. This will top the list next meeting.
Calendar of events: This chewed up much time, there is much to consider. There is an
expectation of changes especially in the second half of it. We are open to suggestions.
Mallacoota: Karbeethong lodge is booked for Friday & Sat 25th & 26th of November, there
are 10 rooms available 3 have four beds 1 of these has room for an extra one. The rest sleep
2, all except one have ensuites. The cost is yet to be finalized but a deposit of $100 will
secure a room. If Karbeethong fills up there is alternative accommodation at the nearby
Mudbrick Holiday Units . Found a shortcut to them last year. Ring Bob to book on 64963585
Fishing report : Some boats are bringing in a few Flathead but they are generally scarce.
There are some good Mowies about but Snapper are also hard to find. It is a bit early for the
rivers yet but a few Bream are being caught in the Mallacoota system already and this should
fire up in the coming weeks. The beaches to the North are giving up Salmon if that is your
thing. Local game fishers are enjoying a run of large Bluefin Tuna with fish up to and above
100 kg landed about 60 km out I think.
If you are going out there and doing it tough, hang in it will get better. If you are sitting at
home grumbling you can`t be helped.
This will be my last newsletter as Editor, Emma will be
taking over taking over so there may be less errors in future.
So there may be less errors n future

Remember these ladies, Di looks chuffed with this catch of King George whiting and
Pat is Proud of her first Barra, a very nice 83cm specimen.
John and Di are around Perth somewhere and grizzling about the weather while Wayne
& Pat went way north, not hearing complaints from them.
