The Electrical and Electronics Engineering

is one of the core Engineering branches.

Engineers with this background are much

sought after in varying fields like Power

Generation, transmission, distribution,

construction, manufacturing, information

technology and many more. As the demand

for power is ever increasing, there is no

dearth of opportunities for Electrical Engineers. The department of EEE,

since its inception, has been attracting highly talented students. A dedicated

team of experienced faculty and fully equipped laboratories have been

moulding job-ready Engineers. This explains the fact that more than 75%

of EEE students were placed in several reputed companies through campus

placements.

To nurture the hidden talents and hone the organisational skills of budding

Engineers, we have an active students association. The association provides

a platform for students to inculcate new skills and imbibe state of the art

technologies. Frequent campus-industry interactions, symposium-

Opuzelek, Guest lectures, workshops, seminars and national conferences

are being held periodically to enable the student community to bridge the

campus-industry gap and make them more employable in high profile posi-

tions with attractive packages.

Though development of soft skills needed for enhanced employability is

an integral part of the growth plan of our engineering students, academic

excellence goes hand in hand . This is evident from the recently announced

Anna University results where eight of our students bagged the top hon-

ours.

Milestones ¤ The various activities of the department has commenced

with the inauguration of EEE Students Association for

the year 2012-13 on 14th July 2012 by Mr. S. Titus

Thanga Primus of Cognizant Technologies Solutions,

Chennai.

¤ National Level Technical Symposium OPUZELEK’ 12

or the academic year 2012-13,was conducted on 24 th

September 2012. Shri.H.G.THILAK Head-Human

Resources, GE Energy ,Chennai, inaugurated and deliv-

ered the key note address.

¤ A Two day workshop on the „Optimization Techniques

on Real Time Implementation’ was conducted on 7th and 8th

December 2012.The resource persons included Dr. Shanti

Swaroop, Professor from IIT Madras, Dr. Shishaj P. Simon

from NIT, Trichy, Dr. P. Somasundaram, Associate Professor,

from Anna University,Chennai, Dr.T. Albert Aruldoss

Victoire from Anna University Regional Centre, Coimbatore, .

The technical sessions were followed by hands on training

sessions by the MATLAB distributor „Raghuram Associates‟,

Chennai.

Staff Development Programs ¤ Ms. R. Umadevi ,Ms. R Shimila, Ms. D. Nageswari have atteneded the training program „Mission 10x‟

conducted by Wipro Technologies at RMK Engineering College, Thiruvallur Dist. during January-

February 2012.

¤ All staff have attended the faculty development program “Learning and Leading” conducted by SEED

InfoTech Ltd., Bangalore, in the month of June 2012 at R.M.K. Engineering College, Thiruvallur Dist.

¤ Mr. L.Umashankar, Asst. Prof. attended a MATLAB Workshop Programme titled “Application of

MATLAB to Electrical Engineering”, on 30-01-12 at Magna Engineering College, Thiruvallur Dist.

¤ Ms.R.Shimila and Mr. Dilavar Basha attended a Workshop Programme titled “Programmable system on

chip with Cypress PSOC”, conducted by Cypress Semi –Conductor India Pvt. Ltd., on 22-06-12 at R.M.K.

¤ ENR Quality services conducted a one day training programme for the staff on 20.11.2012 at R.M.K

College of Engineering Technology, Thiruvallur Dist. to train them to become certified internal Auditors.

Department of Instrumentation Engineering, Madras Institute of Technology Campus, Anna Universuty,

Progaramme on Power System Analysis at RMK

National Level Workshop on Artificial Intelligence,

controller Applications to power Electronics and

“A Healthy Mind Needs A Healthy Body”

¤ Mr.J.P.SARAVANAN of Final year bagged the Best Sports Man award of the year 2012-13. He received a cheque worth Rs 10,000/- for his achievements in sports for the entire four years.

¤ Ms. Reshma SivaSankar of 2nd year received a cheque worth Rs.2,500/- for bagging Gold medal in

Discuss throw in the Intramural Competitions. She bagged 1st place in Shot put and 3rd place in Javelin

throw.

¤ Ms. M.C.Pranitha Shree of Final year received a cheque worth Rs.1,500/- for bagging third place in Vol-

ley ball in Zonal Level Competitions. In the Intramural competitions, she got Silver medal in Javelin

throw, Silver medal in Discuss throw. She was runner up in badminton singles and Table tennis singles.

¤ Ms. U.Nithyakalayani of 3rd year received a cheque worth Rs.1,500/- for getting volley ball third place in

Zonal Level Competitions. In the Intramural competitions, she won the gold medal in 800 meters.

¤ Ms. P.Pavithra Lakshmi of Final year received a cheque worth Rs.1,500/- for bagging third place in

Zonal level Volley ball Competition.

¤ Ms. B. Divya of 2nd year received a cheque worth Rs.1,500/- for bagging third place in Zonal level Volley

ball Competition.

¤ Mr.B.Purusothaman of 3rd year received a cheque worth Rs.2,500/- for bagging gold medal in Zonal

Level High Jump. In the Intramural competition, he bagged a Gold medal in Triple Jump, Silver medal in

Best physique and Long Jump and Bronze medal in 400 meters.

¤ Mr.A.Mohammed Thariq of 2nd year received cheque worth Rs.1,500/- for bagging Bronze medal in

Shot Put Competition at Zonal Level. In the Intramural competition, he bagged Silver medal in shot put,

Silver medal in Hammer throw, Silver medal in above 90 kg category Power Lifting, Silver Medal in

above 75 kg category Weight Lifting.

¤ Mr. G.S.Harish Kumar of 3rd Year received a cash award of Rs.1000/- for representing the college in

R.M.K Cricket Trophy.
