Skills training is incredibly important in South Africa. Across the country, millions of South Africans require training or upskill-ing courses in order to grant them access to employment opportunities and the possibility of promotion, or the entrepre-neurial skills they require to start their own businesses.

HGG NPO Sustainability Solutions is a social enterprise that is focused on the sustainability and empowerment of non-profit organisations. We also offer training to the people in our surrounding communities via our training division, HGG Training.

This brochure provides an overview of the training courses that we provide, as well as how we’re making a dif ference in our local communities. Read on to find out more about:

• HGG NPO Sustainability Solutions – how it all started and where we are today,

• Our directors – the people behind HGG NPO Sustainability Solutions,

• HGG Training – the skills development division of HGG NPO Sustainability Solutions,

• Our training courses – innovative and relevant training opportunities available to you,

• Our training team – the experienced and passionate people driving the courses,

• ForwardFund – HGG Group’s non-profit organisation and the recently established ForwardFund Academy, which provides training to communities in the Southern Peninsula.

SKILLS FOR SUCCESS

One of the biggest challenges facing any non-profit organisation (NPO) is that of how viable and sustainable the organi-sation is in the long-term. HGG NPO Sustainability Solutions Pty Ltd is registered as a social enterprise and is committed to providing NPOs with the expertise and services they need to grow and thrive. During 2015 we became aware of the need among communities and NPOs to access formal training and we subsequently registered with the Services SETA in order to provide training to our communities. Since then we have provided training to more than 200 people, and have presented short courses to 800 people.

As our business expanded, HGG NPO Sustainability Solutions added more business services to our offering and started working with start-up businesses in our communities. We aim to provide women and the youth of today with access to skills, knowledge and resources. Our skills development programmes, such as our real estate training, ICT training, new venture creation, journalism and film and television production courses, impart essential knowledge and skills to empower youth and women in the workplace. The youth and female-owned businesses are key to a thriving entrepreneurial sector in South Africa.

Hendrik’s passion for financial services prompted him to register the HGG Financial Group as a SAIPA (South African Institute of Professional Accountants) Training Centre. Since then, numerous accounting clerks have gained their three-year SAIPA training and accredi-tation via the HGG Financial Group and have benefited from Hendrik’s unwavering ethos of career development and willingness to share his knowledge and expertise.

HGG NPO Sustainability Solutions realised the need to create a training hub where local communities could gain skills to enable them to start their own businesses, or to thrive in the organisations where they are currently employed. As a result, we established a new division within HGG NPO Sustainability Solutions, namely HGG Training.

HGG Training aims to provide communities in the Southern Peninsula with access to quality skills training, thereby contributing to employment, entrepreneurship and the sustainability of NPOs in the area. FORWARDFUND The HGG Financial Group is passionately committed to uplif ting and empowering the communities in which we are involved. For this reason, we established our own non-profit organisation, ForwardFund, as a vehicle to implement our social change initiatives.

ForwardFund invests in organisations that encourage entrepreneurship and enterprise development, and in social change initiatives such as community development, women’s empowerment, the organisational development of NPOs, as well as new venture creation training for women and the youth.

When businesses invest their money in ForwardFund, our directors allocate the money to pre-approved NPOs, who use it for their pre-approved business and development initiatives.

ForwardFund offers companies the opportunity to invest in enterprise development (ED) and socio-economic development (SED) by contributing funds to various approved beneficiaries. This investment in ED and SED not only benefits companies in terms of their Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) scores, but also supports a number of non-profit organisations in their operations and helps to create a world in which people identify their own solutions and can provide for their communities.

THE FORWARDFUND ACADEMY

ForwardFund believes in investing in the communities in which we operate and we became aware of the great challenge facing local youth in accessing quality skills training in the Southern Peninsula. ForwardFund therefore mobilised resources to open the ForwardFund Academy to grant the South Peninsula youth access to affordable and accredited training without having to travel long distances.

The ForwardFund Academy first opened its doors in April 2018. It is situated at the Solaris Office Park in Kommetjie Road, Sunny Acres (behind Sasol Garage, opposite TEARS) and is easily accessible by public transport. The objectives of the Academy are to provide skills training and access to ICT for employment and self-employment amongst youth and women, and to provide skills to youth and women for employment and entrepreneurship.

In addition, ForwardFund is developing a Computer Lab, where the young people can access the internet to apply for work or to study online.

ForwardFund envisages the Academy playing a big role in developing the youth and woman-owned small business and will provide additional training to the local communities. As an example, the ForwardFund Academy offered 20 qualifying students living in the Southern Peninsula full bursaries for 2018 to study the Film and Television Production: National Certificate NQF L5 SAQA 58394. Each bursary was valued at R25 000 for the year.

Changing the lives of people in our local communities is the first step towards changing South Africa for the better. ForwardFund and HGG NPO Sustainability Solutions are firmly committed to our local training and uplif tment initiatives and we look forward to the many success stories that will result from the training that we provide. We encourage you to join us and become part of the new wave of progress in our country.
