Educational Trip Report - Class 1 – Post Office and Vegetable Shop

The students of class 1 were taken for an educational trip to IIT Post Office and a

vegetable shop inside the IIT campus. We started from school around 9.30 am by IIT

bus accompanied by few non teaching staff member and Parent volunteers on 10/10/19,

with an intent of bringing the real life, practical knowledge into class room experiences.

The visit to the post office gave a better understanding of the role and

responsibilities of the postmaster and the postman. The postmaster explained to the

students how letters are collected and delivered to their destinations. The students were

excited to see letters being stamped and sorted. She also learnt about the different

services available at the post office such as registered post, money order, small savings

and speed post. The visit to the Post Office was certainly a great learning opportunity for

the students as well as the teachers. The students were very excited to know about “My

Stamp” where they can have their own picture as a stamp. Then they posted their

greetings letter to their parents, which is obviously their first experience.

Next the students visited a vegetable and fruit shop. They saw the different kinds of

vegetables and fruits. The vendor explained how the vegetables are brought and

arranged in shelves. Children observed and named them. Later they could identify by

their colour and size. Then as a token of love they gifted our children an apple and a

banana stressing the importance of fruits and to consume it every day. The students

enjoyed the trip and returned happily.

On the way to school in the bus the students were discussing about vegetables

and fruits among themselves which is the real output of our trip.
