InOctober2017,theFraminghamPublicSchoolsEducationalWorkingGroup(EWG),agroupofapproximately20FPSadministrativeleaders,teachers,administrators,students,parents,andcommunitypartners,participatedinanEducationalVisioningWorkshopsrunbyNewVistaDesignandJonathanLeviArchitects.TheworkshopwasacollaborativesessiondesignedtoinformtheFullerMiddleSchooldesignprocess.Participantswereledthroughastep-by-stepvisioningprocessaimedatcapturingtheirbestthinkingaboutFPS’scurrentandfutureeducationalgoalsandpriorities,andconnectingthemtopreviousvisioningworkdonebythedistrict,aswellastobestpracticesandpossibilitiesininnovativeschoolfacilitydesign.OnOctober20,2017,theFraminghamPublicSchoolsEWGparticipatedinEducationalVisioningWorkshopOneandexploredthefollowingtopics:• PriorityGoalsfortherenovated/newfacility• 21stCenturyandFutureReadyTeachingandLearningPracticesthatarekeytothedistrictsforwardthinking

VisioningSummaryandRecommendations

FullerMiddleSchool(FMS)ispresentlyinitsfourthyearofdesignandimplementationofaSTEAM(Science,Technology,Engineering,ArtsandMathematics)curriculuminitiative,whichispartofadistrict-wideeffortwithinFraminghamPublicSchools(FPS)todeliverinstructionthroughaproject-based,interdisciplinarymodelthatengagesstudentthroughinquiryandemphasizes21CenturySkills.Theopportunityfortheschooltodesignarenovatedand/ornewfacilitythroughtheMSBAFeasibilityStudyprocess,hasFMSteachers,administrators,studentsandparentshighlyexcitedabouttheprospectofcreatingaphysicalenvironmentthatwillbringtheschool’sdynamicandevolvingeducationalprogramfullytolife.Additionally,thedistrictseesthisprojectasanopportunitytore-imagineFullerMiddleSchoolintheeyesofFraminghamresidents,andhaveitserveasbothabeaconandaresourcetothecommunity.
