At the end of April, the children at Min’Ai and EF Reach volunteers said goodbye to one of the program founders. Shane returned to her home in Canada, but continues to help coordinate Reach, giving the program true international interest. Shane is so thankful to all the extremely passionate volunteers for continuing the incredible work in Shenzhen. We also implemented brand new fundraising initiatives in our core volunteer schools. Each Friday,
volunteers and staff have the opportunity to “dress down to reach out” for a donation to the program. To date, we have raised over 300 RMB which will go
directly to improving our programming for the children at Min’Ai. This month, we dramatically increased our one-on-one teacher-child interaction time which has proven to elicit greater language production. We
introduced over 10 new vocabulary words, and have implemented new individualized activities that accommodate the children’s varying skill levels.

April was a great month for EF Reach, including many changes and developments. With 25% more volunteers, we were able to reach even more lives this month. We are sad to see one of our founders leave Shenzhen, but pleased to have her continued leadership and programming skills from abroad.
