PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Dear Parents Caregivers

We have pleasure in announcing the appointment of Mrs Michelle Taylor as our 19th

classroom teacher. She is an experienced local teacher and is thrilled with her appointment.

Michelle is visiting us tomorrow and will commence with us from the start of next year.

It would seem that ‘gremlins’ played around with our Newsletter last week and page one was

definitely affected. With that in mind some information has been duplicated as they are

important messages.

Thank you to the many parents who are now utilising the Heritage Area as a parent waiting

spot. It is lovely to see parents talking together whilst enjoying the new seating. It does help to

minimise disruption to classes in that afternoon period.

Did you know that if your child is arriving at school late that they are missing out? That early

morning time is very important for friendship making and learning socialisation skills. It is

when students share stories, plan what games they will play for the day etc. If your child is

late they miss all that and more. The Home School Liaison Officer does check partial

absences and will follow this up as a neglect of care if absences are deemed excessive. It has

been indicated that the excuse of sleeping in is not a valid reason for lateness. We ask that all

parents assist with ensuring their children attend regularly and on time each day.

We had heard news from the staff at Red Hill with Year 4 that all is going well and they are

enjoying the excursion immensely. They are expected back this afternoon at 5pm and will no

doubt be tired but excited to let us know all about their trip.

The Kindergarten Teddy Bears picnic was a huge success yesterday with students involved in

a wide range of activities including singing, biscuit decorating, art, sport and cuddling their

special ‘teddies’. The healthy food that was supplied by parents for the picnic was very

quickly devoured and appreciated. Thank you to the Kindergarten teachers and especially Mrs

Craft for her thorough organisation.

A reminder regarding hayfever medication, if your child suffers from hayfever then the

medication can be sent to the office, clearly labelled and stating dosages required. Other than

that we can only offer icepacks, which offers little relief.

Head lice is also another issue, again related to the season, and we would ask that all parents

are vigilant in checking their child’s hair & commencing any treatment quickly & thoroughly.

Mr Peter Harvey, Bathurst School Education Director, dropped by for a visit this morning and

it was an absolute pleasure to walk with him around our wonderful school. All classes were

on task and busily working and every class we popped into was polite and courteous. Well

done, Eglinton!

2012 If you have heard “The Boys from The Bush” or “Raw Hide” coming from the school hall, then you know that the Eglinton Dance Group are busy practicing for their section in the 2012 Schools Spectacular. Our section is called “Time in the Country.” The group of 12 children: Emily, Beatie, Brianna, Hannah, Laura, Sophia, Olivia, Sienna, Bethany, Scott, Max and Charlie will be heading down to Sydney next Wednesday, for 2 days of rehearsals then 2 performances a day on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th of November. Of course we will also be keen to watch the ABC broadcast of Schools Spectacular in December to see if we can see any Eglinton faces during the performance. We wish them all well and know they will do a great job of representing the school with Mr Hanlon. Thank you to all the families and friends that have helped support this group through fundraising and organizing costumes.
