Joe:
Here are my impressions on the screenplay.
Wow. I like it. I do like quirky, so actually doing this as a movie appeals to me more than most ideas. One of my favorite movies is uckaroo on!ai. I love the work of "arry lamire #"ost $keleton of
%adavra, et al.& ut my point is, I get it. 'his is like the i!arro version of %rash mi(ed with someparts of )epo *an and .
'he initial +it where you esta+lish that this is not taking place on the arth that we know and inha+it isvery clever. It forces even the most stu++orn audience mem+er to suspend their dis+elief, which is veryimportant in a story like this, that is so off-the-wall. 'he running gag a+out the apples is also key,+ecause it keeps reminding the audience that were in a different world, where the same rules dontapply.
Having said that, doing this indie is the only way to go. I cant see any studio e(ecutive greenlightingthis in a million years. 'hey would not get it.
/irst time through the script, I was unsure who the protagonist was, +ecause the story kept shifting.'hen I reali!ed that, like %rash, this was the point of the story. Once I reali!ed that, I settled down andstarted to +e on the lookout for ways in which the story threads, seemingly unrelated at first, wouldcome +ack together and would all resolve at the end. I think the script does hit all those marks.
I would note there are a few pro+lems here. 'he most pro+lematic issue to me is trademarkinfringement. 'heres three: Hooker Jeopardy, Jim eam and 0anda (press. 1s far as Jim eam and0anda (press, you might get them to sign off on this, +ecause it doesnt say anything too pro+lematica+out the +rands, though the guy +eing so drunk that he hallucinates a personification of +our+on may+e a deal +reaker. In fact, you might +e a+le to get Jim eam and 0anda (press to pony up someproduct placement money. ut Im sure Hooker Jeorpardy would +e an outright refusal.
However, I forsee an easy solution. 2ou could 3ust make up your own +rands, like 'arantino does with)ed 1pple %igarettes #is that where the cigarettes 4 apples 3oke comes from5&. 0anda (press couldturn into 6'he 7reat Wall8 or some other generic %hinese restaurant name, or something punny like6%hairman 0ow8 with a giant %hairman *ao costumed cartoon mascot outside the restaurant handingout coupons. 6%hairman *eow8 and its a cartoon cat5 Jim eam could turn into your own version, like 6%olonel eauregards our+on8 I thought it would +e funnier if instead of +eing a superhero typefigure, he comes to life from the picture of the man off the la+el, literally walking out of the picture onthe la+el. 2ou have this 9thcentury $outhern gentleman character walking around, giving himmotivational speeches like some old-timey 'ony )o++ins.
Hooker Jeopardy would +e a non-starter. 2oud have to call it something like 6;ui! *y Hooker.8However, you could make it into a 3oke since theyre doing a we+ series. 6We wanted to call it HookerJeopardy, +ut the Jeorpardy lawyers contacted us and told us they would sue if we used that, so we hadto call it something else.8 6How did the Jeopardy lawyers know a+out guys in a frat house doing we+videos58 6'he internet. "awyers. 2ou do the math.8
6Hey have you seen that hooker game show we+ thing58 6Hooker Jeopardy58 62eah, its not calledthat. ut thats +asically what it is.8

2ou could pro+a+ly get away with the 6answer in the form of a question8 format though. 1s long it isrepeatedly pointed out that it has nothing to do with Jeopardy.
I like the idea of 1ngry Jack. Im envisioning somewhat of a cross of
