Eidsvold P-12 State School

A year to look back on As a close-knit school we can’t even begin to describe the impact certain restrictions and distancing guidelines have had on our daily ‘normal way of life’. We were able to roll with the punches this year and have come out the other side bigger and better. I know that this year, with all that has gone on, I would like to commend our stu-dents for continuing their education journeys and finish-

ing the year with very little hassle.

As I mentioned at our Awards Ceremony - if I could pin-point something that happened this year that helped us

through 2020, it was this:

When other schools were asking ‘Can we?’ our school

began to ask ‘how can we?’

How can we still see and support our students and families during the lockdown

period?

How do we still make sure students from Eidsvold still have the same opportuni-

ties as students from inner city Brisbane during this time?

How can we still hold a swimming carnival/ sports carnival/ awards ceremony

under current restrictions?

I feel that changing this way of thinking was really important to the stability of our student’s education and wellbeing. I truly believe that with a positive mindset heading into 2021, we will continue to achieve great things and see our school,

staff and students grow from strength to strength.

Good bye and good luck

I just wanted to acknowledge the work that Mr Mckenzie, Miss Watts and Miss O’Donnell have put into our school throughout their time here. I can’t speak highly enough of these teachers and they will be a hard bunch to replace. I have so many fond memories of their time here and I know that no matter where they end up, they will continue to do well. Thank you again on behalf of Eidsvold P-12

State School.

Looking forward to 2021

I am looking forward to welcoming Mr Hooper and Mrs Graham into our school next year. From the couple of sessions that I have had with them, they are get-ting very excited as well. Mr Hooper has quite a few years’ experience with pri-mary school and he has been able to spend a couple of days out here with the 3/4 class. Mrs Graham also has a number of years working in Agriculture and HPE roles. I am excited about the projects that she is getting ready for the

school and working with her on these.

Prep enrolments

If you have a prep age student for 2021 and have not yet enrolled them, please shoot me an email over the holidays. It is important that all students are ready to

go on their first day in 2021. My email address is [email protected]

Stay safe over the holidays

Just a really timely reminder to stay safe over the holidays. It is going to be hot and I know that I will probably see a lot of you down at the pool. Don’t forget to let someone know where you are going and try to stick with some friends or

families around town.

It has certainly been a year that no one will forget, but despite everything, it has still been a great year at Eidsvold State School. From learning at home and constant hand sanitising, to figuring out how to run sporting events and activities within the COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines, there have been many hurdles this year that our students, staff and the community have taken in their stride. I would like to thank everyone for their support, cooperation and understanding this year, as it has made the year a lot easier to handle and ultimately helped facilitate opportunities for students.

This year I have again been monitoring our attendance across all year levels and individually. Overall for Term 4, our Champion year level for the highest attendance goes to our Year 5 stu-dents. These students have received a Swimming Pool Voucher for the Eidsvold Pool and 5 Yumbin tokens. Congratulations Year 5 students!

I would also like to congratulate the following students for reaching or

exceeding our 95% attendance goal for semester 2, 2020:

95% - 95.9% - Josie Gitsham, Malachi Murray and Mitchell Bowling

96% - 96.9% - Ashton Kyle, Nikita Kyle, Brogue McIlwraith, Kate Murray,

William Murray, Marley Parter, Daniel Roth,

Harrison Roth, Jakob Roth, Noah Farr, Daniel Kyle,

Mackenzie Roth and Eligh Roth

97% - 97.9% - Lily Hastings, Hayden Riethmuller, Daley Thompson

and Emmanuel Parter

98% - 98.9% - Kira Newman, Havana Parter, Charlotte Riethmuller,

Tameesha Pope and Dustin Roberts

Congratulations again to these students!

Finally, I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy holidays! Be safe, have fun and remember to slip, slop, slap! Enjoy the last few weeks of 2020 and I look forward to seeing every-one again next year!

What a rewarding year! Teaching at Eidsvold State School has

been an excellent experience. I would like to thank the stu-

dents, parents, teachers and community for making me feel so

welcome. It has been fantastic to see the students embrace

their learning throughout the year and I look forward to helping

them continue their educational journey in 2021. I hope every-

one has a happy, safe and enjoyable holiday period.

What a great place to live and learn!

News from the Art Room & the Library: Mrs Probst and MS Hansen

We have enjoyed a very busy year in the Art Space and in the

Library. We hope that students have had some memorable and peaceful visits to both.

Expressing yourself through art and finding a whole new world in books will pro-vide you with some amazing adventures.

We wish you all a happy holiday break and all the best for the New Year.

Kind regards,

Mrs Probst and MS Hansen

Ngara Yumbin,

My final newsletter piece to represent three and a half years at Eidsvold State School, better make it a good one. For all community members and parents, thank you for accepting me into this lovely town and allowing me to teach your children. It has been an honour and you should be proud of your little ones and their many achievements, it has been a pleasure to teach them. To the students, coming to Eidsvold was daunting in the beginning but you quickly made me feel like part of the furniture. Visitors to our school often comment on the peaceful, welcoming feeling that they get when entering the school gate. That is made from the effective working relationship between all staff and students and it is a welcome and unique feature of ESS. To the Elders of this region, thank you for allowing me to teach the Wakka Wakka language alongside Corey and Cass. It is a responsibility that I haven’t taken lightly and one I have thoroughly enjoyed.

Eidsvold State School has already been a career highlight and I don’t know that I’ll be able to top it.

Better to take some time and see this big beautiful country than worry about that too soon.

Please understand that what you have in this school isn’t an accident but by design, it takes a lot of hard work to maintain and I hope yumbin not only maintain but keep building, improving and getting better doom, daru, doomu.

Yanande,

We’ve reached the end of the 2020 school year and I’m sure all will agree that it’s been a year to remem-ber. After starting the year as we do any other, it quickly became obvious that adaptability was going to be a necessary skill and the Eidsvold State School community definitely rose to that challenge.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the students on their ability to stand in the face of what came at them this year and make the best of the situation.

Once again, thank you to the students, staff and wider Eidsvold community and I can’t wait to see you all back next year.

What a weird and wonderful year 2020 has been.

Some of these things could not have been foreseen. From Aquaponic and

orienteering to statistics and mean.

My students from year nine through to twelve were incredibly keen.

Congratulations on making it through despite the changes in routine.

I hope your holidays are filled with joy and happiness and everything

in between. Eidsvold P-12 State School

Goodbye 2020 from 3-4 Ms Trudie

Ngara yumbin and welcome to the last newsletter item for the 3-4 class for 2020.

What a whirlwind of a year it has been. This semester we have grown in numbers and it has been great to see the class welcome new members and see new friendships develop and grow.

I would like to thank each and every student I have taught this year for their efforts and resilience. I wish you all the best for next year.

Next year I move downstairs to the 1-2 class and I can’t wait to get my hands on the classroom and continue on from Miss Watts in a fun, creative and engaging workspace for the students.

Merry Xmas to you all and have a well-earned awesome Christmas break and we will see you all back next year refreshed and ready to rock and roll!

The year 2020 has brought many challenges and all too soon, the Christmas Season

is upon us. A time to spend with family and friends. A time to reflect and regroup

for the coming year. We have all played a special part in ‘creating a great

environment in which children can flourish’, so last but not least a time to celebrate

the importance of family, school, community and culture.

Looking forward to working with everyone again in 2021

Ngara Yumbin,

Well that’s a wrap. What a year it has been! Despite the turbulent year we were all faced with, together we persevered and came out stronger. I am so proud of each and everyone one of my students. They have worked hard this year and have made pleasing achievements. I would like to thank them for their diligence and for showing great determination in wanting to improve themselves. 5/6 displayed a real thirst for knowledge and with each semester, they made won-derful progress academically, socially and emotionally. They should be proud of themselves.

Unfortunately, we lose a delightful student this year, the one and only, Pirie Newman. We are all very sad to see her leave and we wish her all the best in her next chapter. I’m sure you are des-tined for great things and in a few years time we will be reading a book published my yours truly. Congratulations Year 6, you did it! Your first 7 years of schooling are done and dusted. When you return next year, you will be in Secondary School. I know you will all thrive in year 7 and relish your time in ‘big’ school. Continue on with your posi-tive mind set and always remem-ber your courageous actions are rewarded. ‘Fortune favours the bold’.

I hope everyone enjoys their well-deserved break with their family and friends. Have wonderful Christ-mas, stay safe and I look forward to seeing all your smiling faces in 2021, as well as, assisting my 5/6 class next year on their learning journey.

Excellent Attendance

Eidsvold P-12 State School

What a wild year! Definitely one to remember. As some of you may know this is my last year in Eidsvold. I will be heading home to spend some time with my much missed family. I feel

extremely privileged to have had the opportunity to teach at Eidsvold State School.

I have worked alongside some amazing staff, whom I have truly appreciated their friendship. I have also felt so welcomed by the community and appreciated the kindness received from you all.

I would like to say thankyou for welcoming me into your community and allowing me the oppor-tunity to be a part of your town. I look forward to seeing many more achievements for the

students, school and community.

Have a safe and happy holidays and all the best for 2021.
