GOD GATHERS US
Prelude
Confession and Forgiveness
P Blessed be the holy Trinity, ☩ one God, full of compassion and mercy,
abounding in steadfast love.
C Amen.
P Trusting God’s promise of forgiveness, let us confess our sin against God and
one another.
Please kneel as you are able. Silence for reflection and self‐examination.
P Eternal God our creator,
C in you we live and move and have our being.
Look upon us, your children,
the work of your hands.
Forgive us all our offenses,
and cleanse us from proud thoughts and empty desires.
By your grace draw us near to you,
our refuge and our strength;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
P Since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ. Christ died for us while we still were sinners;
and for his sake, God ☩ forgives you all your sins. God’s love has been
poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit given to us.
C Amen.
We’re glad God has brought us together to worship and hear the Good News of Jesus. We believe
that God has given us a purpose as the people of Preston Meadow Lutheran, and it all begins here,
in worship. If you’re visiting with us today, we’re especially glad you are here. Grab some coffee
afterward, and let us have the chance to get to know you some and share with you how you can
join us in God’s purpose for us. Welcome!
Hearing assistance devices are available for your use.
Please notify an usher if you would like a unit.
Please silence your cell phones.

Apostles’ Creed
C I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
The Peace
P The peace of the risen Lord be with you always.
C And also with you.
The people greet one another with a sign of Christ’s peace.
Prayers of Intercession
Please kneel as you are able.
After each petition:
A Lord, in your mercy,
C hear our prayer.
Please take the time to sign our “Welcome to our Worship” booklet found at the end of each
pew so we may record your time with us today. If you are new to our community, we’d like
to know where you live so we might have the chance to be neighborly.
We’re glad you’re with us today!

Communion
At Preston Meadow Lutheran, our communion table is “open.” That means that you don’t have
to be a member of PMLC to commune, or even a Lutheran. We welcome children of all ages to this
favorite meal of the church because we know that we come at Jesus’ invitation to receive his free
gift of grace. Parents, if your children are not yet communing, encourage them to fold their arms
over their chests to receive a blessing. If you are communing, simply open your hands and bread
will be given to you. Cups with white grape juice are located in the center of the trays; gluten‐free
wafers are available on request. Come and enjoy the free gifts of God!

My name is Kate Knutson. I am a recent graduate of Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN, where I received my Masters of Divinity with a concentra on in Children, Youth, and Family Min-istry in May 2017.
I grew up in Richfield, MN, with my dad, mom, and older sister. I
have always had a passion for working with youth and families
and figuring out ways to navigate the complexity of their faith
journey. While a ending college at Gustavus Adolphus College
in Saint Peter, MN, I consistently felt a mostly gentle, but at
mes very obvious, nudge to discern a call to ministry, thanks to
my mentors. A er working at a summer camp in college, I
realized that we not only have a lot to teach young people, but
they have a lot to teach us, especially about God. Since then, I’ve pursued a call to ministry by
working in several different contexts all with youth and families, trying to navigate what God is up
to in the world and in different congrega ons or ministry se ngs.
The first two years during seminary I worked at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis,
MN—the church I grew up in. During the third year, I interned at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church in
North St. Paul, MN. I then returned to Mount Olivet where I have been the Pastoral Advisor for
Children and Family Ministry. I managed a staff of seven individuals who all have a passion and
desire to walk with kids as they learn about God.
One of the best components of my job are the “light bulb” moments. I have realized that
everyone has these moments in their life of faith, but they are very monumental in the life of a
child. These are moments when someone starts to understand a new concept or idea. The best
part about working with kids is being able to witness those light bulb moments when they start to
understand who God is and what God can do for them. I also love being on a faith journey with
their parents or guardians as they live out their bap smal promises and help their children grow
into who they are called to be as one of God’s beloved children.
As your Pastor for Family Ministry, I am most excited to get to know you, and learn about the ways
that God has worked in your life in the past, and explore what God is currently doing in each of our
lives and in the life of PMLC in the present. I’m looking forward to this next adventure in Texas,
and saying goodbye to the snow!
