Dear  Families,                            April  2011        As  the  2011-‐2012  starts  to  near  a  close,  the  HoLa  PTO  board  would  like  to  send  a  special  note  of  thanks   and   celebrate   the   accomplishments   that   all   of   our   parents   and   teachers   have   helped   to  achieve  this  year.  Everyone’s  willingness  to  lend  a  helping  hand,  no  matter  how  big  or  small,  has  directly  benefited  the  HoLa  community  and  our  students.  You  should  feel  extremely  proud!    One   of   the   primary   goals   of   the   PTO   is   to   provide   our   school   with   programs,   resources   and  services  that  will  enrich  and  maximize  the  education  of  every  child.    Many  of  you  have  been  vital  in   helping   organize   a   broad   variety   of   social,   cultural,   and   educational   events   such   as;   Class  Coffees   and   classroom  projects,   the  HoLa  Halloween   /  Día   de   los  muertos   party,   Family  Movie  Night,   the   Celebración   de   las   Artes   Talent   Show,   Sabor   de  HoLa,   and   our   upcoming   Book   Fair,  Field  Day,  and  Golf  Outing.  Without  your  active  role  in  the  PTO,  these  programs  would  not  exist.    While  all  of  these  events  are  about  building  community,  some  have  the  additional  intent  of  raising  funds   to  help  our  school  grow  and   to  continue   to  provide  more  resources   for  our  students  and  teachers.  Through  all  of  your  combined  efforts,  by  the  end  of  the  school  year  the  HoLa  PTO  will  have  raised  approximately  $120,000.  These  are  real  results  with  real  benefits  for  our  children.  We  have  been  able  to  purchase  instruments,  art  supplies,  gym  equipment,  and  recess  toys  for  all  students   to   use.   The   construction   of   the   4th   Grade   classrooms   is   complete,   and   the   rooms   are  already   in   use   to   provide   special   tutoring   and   support   across   all   grades.   Books   and   additional  learning  resources  will  be  purchased  to  continue  to  build  out  our  classroom  libraries  that  benefit  HoLa  students  for  years  to  come.  Thank  you  for  everyone’s  amazing  contributions  this  year!    With   the   end   of   the   year   nearing,   we   are   also   nearing   the   end   of   the   term   for   our   PTO   board  members.    Our  request  to  the  HoLa  community  is  simple  –  we  are  asking  you  to  consider  taking  on   a   leadership   role   on   the   board,   so   that   the   HoLa   PTO   can   continue   to   grow,   evolve,   and  contribute,  towards  the  success  of  all  our  children.    Nominations  are  being  accepted  now  and  an  election  will  take  place  on  May  17th  at  our  next  PTO  meeting.  We  ask  you  to  consider  any  of  the  seven  roles.  Each  of  them  vary  in  time  commitment  and  duties,  but  all  are  extremely  important.  We  hope  that  you  will  consider  any  one  of  the  roles  on  the  attached,  and  submit  your  nomination  so  that  the  PTO  may  continue  the  good  work  and  service  for  our  children’s  school  next  year.      Please  feel  free  to  reach  out  to  any  one  of  us  with  questions  you  may  have.  Again,  we  thank  all  of  you   for   your   amazing   commitment   and   dedication   to   our   school,   and   for   achieving   amazing  results  this  year.      Sincerely,  The  HoLa  PTO  Board  2011-‐2012      Andrea  Mayendia/President  –  [email protected]      Norma  Ramos/Vice-‐President  –  [email protected]    Vrinda  Deva/Treasurer  –  [email protected]    Kelly  Reina/Secretary  –  [email protected]      Yoselly  Ramos/Communications  Officer  –  [email protected]    Christian  Gibbs/Fundraising  Chair  –  [email protected]    Christiane  Hoffman/Legal  Chair  –  [email protected]
