Ken Melamed

I am excited to bring my diverse skill-set and enthusiasm to the Board of VanCity. With over ten years of my career in Credit Unions – eight with VanCity – I have served in a multitude of roles and am acutely familiar with the VanCity family and ethos. I bring a strong background in community-building, networking and advocacy, which will be a veritable asset for VanCity and its members.


Julien Phipps

As an Engineering Professional I will bring my high degree of personal and professional ethics and integrity to the Board. As well, my Engineering training and experience has instilled systematic and logical decision making and analytical skills that I believe will be of great benefit to the Board.


Keith Horne

Vancity is charting a competitive path committed to Good Money and support for the less-privileged. To be successful, it is embarking on a substantial investment in business and information system changes. My work experience leading transformational change and technology projects will help me be an effective representative of our members in overseeing this endeavor.


Oliver Grüter-Andrew(recommended)

I have served on the Vancity Board for one term. I am the Chair of the Governance Committee and have sat on the Audit, Risk and Human Resources Committees.

I think globally and act locally to solve the critical problems facing us today. As a community developer and Vancouver CityCouncillor for six years, I work for economic equality, social justice, environmental sustainability and creative cultures. I was Vice Chair of the City Council finance committee and the Council representative to the executive of the Union of BC Municipalities.


Ellen Woodsworth

I am an energetic member who will listen and work hard for the Board at Vancity, as I value its commitment to excellence, andsocial and economic outlook. Together we will serve our members in an honest and straight forward manner. I have experience in a varied career and learned business skills which I will bring to the table to serve you as an unbiased director.


Colin Booth

At six months old, we opened our baby’s first bank account at Vancity. Her first financial encounter had to be with anorganization that makes a concerted effort to be a part of the community. My feelings about contributing to your ownbackyard and demonstrating positive social change are strong and Vancity embodies those values.


Sunshine Gudlaugson

I am a small business consultant, mother of two, and treasurer of my Community Centre Association.

After my MBA at SFU, I joined Write Ahead consulting to help small businesses get their start and in turn make a contribution to the kind of community I want to raise my family in. I am currently a candidate enrolled in the CMA Strategic Leadership Program with the Certified Management Accountants Society of BC.


Celeste Munger

I represent the emerging generational leadership Vancity needs to face the rapid economic, societal and technological changes ahead. For three years, I served as a member of the Vancity Elections and Nominations committee. I run my own business as an online community organizer where I’m committed to BC’s social change and social venture communities.


Theodora Lamb(recommended)

I have worked with teams of all kinds, in for-profit and non-profit scenarios. I learn from them and I share what I learn. I haveserved in boards, recognizing the need for diversity of thought, and the rigour of getting governance work done.


Leopoldo Valdes

I am a social worker who assists seniors, people with illnesses or disabilities and their families. I have 15 years of experience in board governance, serving as president and vice president of national and international sporting organizations for the blind. I contribute as a journalist to AMI, the Canadian television station accessible to the blind that is unique in the world. I have been a member of Vancity for 20 years.
