In this EVU mini-course, well consider tips and trick that address a variety of other features of the Model S.We begin with a situation that occurs at least a few times for every Model S owner. You approach the vehicle, but >> For whatever reason, the door handles wont extend>> first, push on the door handle, and that usually does the trick.>> if that doesnt work, another option is to double click on the top of the key fob>> If youve left your key fob in the car>> use your Model S smartphone app to unlock the doorsAnd if you dont currently have the Model S app on your smartphone? Get it! Its invaluable for a variety of reasons and its free.

Key fob is dead To unlock your doors place the dead key fob on the passenger side window by the windshield wiper. [@efusco]To start the car put the dead key fob in the cup holder in the center tower arm rest. [@efusco]Key fob takes a CR2032 lithium battery

Like any battery operated device, there it possible that your key fob battery will die unexpectedly>> To unlock your doors >> place the dead key fob on the passenger side window by the windshield wiper. >> To start the car >> put the dead key fob in the cup holder in the center tower arm rest.>> As an aside, its not a bad idea to keep a spare CR2032 lithium battery in the car or your desk, so that you can remedy a dead fob battery quickly. Its also a good idea to replace your key fob battery every year or so. Put a note in your smartphone calendar as a reminder.

If, like me, you live in a place where temperatures often exceed 90 degrees, the best solution for a really hot car is to use your Tesla smartphone app and initiate air conditioning in the car for 5 minutes before you enter it.But sometimes you just forget. As Ive already mentioned, the model s smartphone app is a very useful information source as well as the control center for remote commands.>> The app provides a set of basic vehicle controls including >> roof, lock/unlock, horn, flash lights>> You can also acquire the cars instantaneous location w/ satellite map, so if youre brave enough to loan out your Model S, youll know where it is at all times.>> In addition the app gives you the state of the battery charge and the status of charging>> and provides a variety of climate control functions that I referred to previously, allowing you, for example, to air condition or heat your car before you get into it.

Regen brake lightswhen do your brake lights come on as regen kicks in?touch the battery icon at the top of the touch screenthe current/active stars of lights will be shownwhen your brake lights come on, they will appear in the graphic

With a car as nice as the Model S, youll want to keep it clean. If you prefer to forgo a car wash and do the cleaning yourself,>> To make your life just a little easier when you do wash your car>> raise the vehicle to its Very High suspension position and then turn it off

Youll do less bending down and the high suspension setting makes it easier to use your hose to clean out the junk in the wheel wells.

Reopening the doorsIf your door handles retract and you realize that you need something inside the carthere is a 3 - 4 second delay before touching the door handle will cause it to re-open [@NickHowe]

For a hot car lookYou can set your car to a low stanceWhen in park, use controls to set the car to the Low suspension setting to achieve a more sporty stance while parked. This will only work if none of the doors have been opened after setting the car to parked. [Teslarati]

And for the somewhat frivolous,If youre participating in a local car show or otherwise want to give your car a really hot look while its parked,>> You can set your car to a low stance with the following steps>> When in park, use controls to set the car to the Low suspension setting to achieve a more sporty stance while parked. >> this will only work if none of the doors have been opened after setting the car to parked.
