Electricity and Magnetism
MATEOS NEILA, TERESAMEDIAVILLA DEL MORAL, LORENA
MÉNDEZ VALLEJO, ANDREAROMEO SANTOS, SILVIASÁEZ PÉREZ, ESTRELLA
Objectives
- Develop reading and writing skills- By taking notes of their observations- By reading symbols- By writing some conclusions
- Approach to the knowledge of the word- By understanding some simple experiments, events and processes
Expectations
All the children must:- Answer correctly at least one question- Participate in all the experiments- Explain in a simply way what they have observed- Know how electricity and magnetism work
Most children should:- Explain in detail what they have observed- Be able to describe how electricity and magnetism
work
Some children could:- Answer to all the questions correctly
Basic Competences- Linguistic communication competence Reading symbols, taking notes and explaining some simple processes.
-Competences in the knowledge and interaction with the physical world Exploring how works their environment
-Treatment of the information and digital competence Using the digital board and the computers for some activities
-Social and citizen competence Working in groups, helping each other
-Learning how to learn Observing experiments and experimenting on their way
-Self autonomy and initiative Cleaning materials, taking care of their notes and knowing what have they learnt
Language
- Eye contact
- Affect displayers
- Illustrators
- Take-care speech
Resources- Activity Sheets- Observation Sheets- Computers- Digital Board- Web resources- Experiment resources
- Needle- Water- Iron Filings- Wooden Board- Magnets- Balloon- Thread- Foil- Geomags- Plastic Bottle- Plastic Containers
Lesson 1Our Objectives
- Introduce the lesson- Take the first contact with electricity and magnetism
Activities
- Watch a simple power point with some information and vocabulary about electricity and magnetism
- Play a kind of trivial
Leading Activity
- Play the trivial. Listening the answers of the pupils we can know how much they know about the theme and what they have learnt with the power point
Lesson 2Our Objectives- Take the first contact with magnets- Explore how it work: repulsion and attraction- Meet some materials that stick and some that don’t stick
Activities- Watch the magnetic attraction from the Beakman’s World
programme http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=M9hY82_wl2Q&feature=endscreen
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qx1RGP1PK78&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PLD958D77F671094B2
- Testing magnets: Repulsion, attraction and materials that stick and don’t stick
- Play “moving like magnets” gameLeading Activity- Play “moving like magnets” game. By observing each group we can know if pupils have understand how magnets work and where are their mistakes.
Lesson 3Our Objectives
- Apply what we know about magnets and test it- Observe what happen on each experiment with each variable
Activities- Experiments:
- Magnetism on 3D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7CPYM3IuDA
- Magnetism on the water http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPkqflLmjrw
- Geomag free energy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KP5qpvepU6A
- Compass http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFots_wnThM
- Electrostatic pendulum http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaZADiH_gRY
- Share conclusions
Leading Activity
- Share conclusions. We can know what hey observe and what conclusions can they make using their knowledge.
Lesson 4Our Objectives
- Take the first contact with electricity- Explore how it works- Meet conductors and isolators
Activities
- Play “how electricity works”- Play conductors and isolators web game
http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/scienceclips/ages/8_9/circuits_conductors_fs.shtml
- Fill up and check the activity sheets
Leading Activity
- Fill up the activity sheets. By checking it we can know if our learners have well understood the theme
Lesson 5Our Objectives
- Apply our knowledge to play a game - Arrive together to a general conclusions- Make the students evaluate themselves
Activities
- Play the web game “electric circuits” http://www.andythelwell.com/blobz/guide.html
- Discuss about what we have observed- Fill up a self-evaluation sheetLeading Activity
- Discuss and arrive to a general conclusions, which will allow us to know what knowledge our learners finally acquired and revise the possible mistakes.
