For most of us, we get out of our homes early in the morning to return back quite late in

1) Fake or Sub-Standard

Its instructive that fake products seem to have become an integral part of our nation.

And this has remained very rampant and entrenched in almost every segment of our

economy.

From the clothes we wear, to the Car parts, the Computers we buy for business and

home, even the Telephone we use. And have you forgotten the problems offake drugsresponsible for the death of many innocent people?

In fact, we are not totally free from the dragon called

FAKE.

However, its also EXTREMELY deep within the

electroni cs market.

Why?

Because most people erroneously think products

such as Freezers, Air Con, TVs, Sound Systems,

Cookers, LAPTOPS do not require any technicalor

privileged knowledge before you purchase them.

And the reason for this belief is simple

You know, since childhood, we observed how older

folks walked into an Electronics shop, move around

a bit, and admire the products on display. Maybeasked some questions.

Then

They simply paid for products of their

choice and promptly went home with them!

YES friend. Thats how we all (including you and I),

most times buy our electronics appliances. Isnt it?

Or, at times we just asked a friend Bobby, I love

your Laptop. Where did you get i t?and

thereafter, rush down with money toget yours.

However, ironically, thats where the first danger comes about.

How?

Yes, brands such as Samsung and Sony parade some of the most amazing range of

LCD & LED TVs in the entire universe.

In fact, theyre top leaders & ahead of most brands in FlatScreen TV in terms of

modern features, innovations, design, styles, beauty and durability.

All That GLITTERS Is Not Gold!

However, you must be careful because that SONY or Samsung LCD /LED TV may

be brought into the country via theBlack Market.

2) Padded Products

This second danger is much similar to the one abovebut more sophisticated in scope

and operations.

In fact, its mostly perpetuated by some

big, corporate companies. And,please let me warn:

These are not

your regular guys.

They appear sophisticated; operate big

multi-million naira/dollar enterprises.

Now, let me share with you, one of theseveral methods they carry out this

heinous acts

** Lets assume you requested from

the manager ofXYZ HomeElectronicsLimiteda quote for your

newly built hotel (or your dream

house), a set of Air cons, FlatScreen

TVs, Fridges, Deep Freezers, Gen, Gas

cookers etc.

Here is what often happen to most

ignorant customers:

Unknown to you, a secretpolicy of the

seller is to source for inferior products

or brands (NOT FAKE), and do whatis known asREBRANDING

This simply means replacing the namesof the inferior product with popular

brands such as Panasonic, Royalty,

Samsung, Sony

OR alternatively, he order inferior brands and use the outer panels of stronger brands

to cover it up

LG Electronics:The Most Padded ElectronicsProducts in Nigeria, Today!

Why Padding of LG Products at over 93%?

1) No international monitoring... no channelor approved imports from LG Manufacturer inSouth Korea. This enables lots of importers (withcash) to bring in all kinds of products fromChina, with the LG brand name.

2) In the early days, the Korean maker of LG

allowed over-hyped promotion and marketing(competing against Samsung), which smartimporters cashed on to sell deceit to the public.

3) Most Nigerians are gullible as to what goesinto making and finishing electronics products.

4) Most Nigerians (and companies) lovecheap stuff...so called low prices, therebymaking it easy to pad-up LG products on a WIDESCALE and sell cheap. But with very high marginsto the importers, their agents and sellers!

OR he may order major parts such as condensers and compressors (e.g. Air Con);inner Panels (e.g. Televisions, Home Theatres) from the black marketthen secretly,

couple-up these cheap components together

Next stage is simply to paste names such as Samsung, Sony, Sharp, Fridgidaire, on them.

Now, let me ask you this question

If you are shown round a warehouse stocked with such products, would you ever believe

the products were padded?

Or, if they advertise heavily, say in the Newspaper or Radio, as some regularly do,

would you ever believe that the products were manipulated?


E X P O S E

NOT all Electronic companies produce Freezers. For example, Samsung dont.Panasonic dont. LG International dont.

At the moment, the topmost freezers are Polystar, Newcastle, EuroStar,Ignis, Thermocool, Kelon, Scanfrost, Hicel and Royalty.

FACTS: Though Thermocool & Ignis Freezers are the most expensive,

however theyre not better.

In fact, I had often advised clients who sought our advice to choose PolyStar,Newcastle, Kelon Royalty Freezers before others.

d) Some profits must be declared at the end of

the day for the company to remain in business.

However, even this problem can be bridged or

outrightly OVERCOME. We believe that youa

4) The Culture of Bad Customer Care

Hmmm! This is everywhere in this country. Almost every business, from the biggest tothe smallest thinks its modish to take your feelings, desires and expectations for granted.

Just look at the roll call

From the Telecommunications to the Banking industry, to Government agencies, downto the road side kiosksbad Customers Services remain the hallmark!

It has remained our culture in Nigeria. And most times, buyers just refuse to speak up,

instead prefer to

Suffer in silence!

Let me share a common example with you:

Lets use 12-months warranty as our example

So what does Warranty mean to you?

It means, technically, that you are entitled for FREE repair or replacement of any part

with factory defect.

Also, within the warranty period, if damage occurs due to owners carelessness or

power surge, youre entitled to prompt repair or change where applicable.Though youll

be required to

Pay for the parts changed

or repair done for you.

But IS THIS the common practice? No, no, no! Instead, most sellers will NEVER assist

you to get a replacement for the defected part, even when it is proven it is factor fault!

Some companies may merely struggleto repair your product in their workshop, even if

it takes many weeks, without caring a hoot what happens to your comfort or business

during those long period.

Just imagine your office without Air conditioners for 2 weeks? Or, imagine a restaurant

without Freezers and Air Con for 2 weeks?

Your guess is as good as mine.
