The concept of DEPFET (DEpleted Pchannel Field Effect Transistor) detector can be used as building block for a large variety of different applica?ons ranging from xray astrophysics and par?cle physics to photon science. The concept is based on the combina?on of the sideward deple?on principle with a pchannel field effect transistor as first amplifica?on stage. One of the main drivers for the DEPFET research is the development of detectors for satellite based xray astrophysics missions like IXO (Interna?onal XRay Observatory) or Gravitas requiring good energy resolu?on at high frame rates and low power. During our DEPFET R&D ac?vity we developed two types of ASICs (ASTEROID, SWITCHER) and a modular data acquisi?on system. Details of these systems together with examples of applica?on will be presented and discussed.
