The objective is to define what you do, why people should care and how they can find it in 30 seconds or less. The Elevator Pitch is thoughtful and clear. At the end of the conversation people will know if they like you, what is being offered and the best way to find it. It's about action. It's simplicity. It's about communication. An Elevator Pitch helps communicate to the world who, what and why… but more importantly it helps you better understand what the heck it is you're doing. Writing Elevator Pitch might be seem unnecessary, because you obviously already know what you do, why people should care and where to find it… but the real question is do other people? Don't get lost in a thought bubble. Not everyone knows what you do or even how to articulate it. It's your job to guide them from the unknown into the known. We know what know. We know what we don't know, but we don't know what we don't know. An Elevator Pitch will help you do that quickly and efficiently in today's fast-paced world. In addition to being able to communicate more clearly the who, what and why in the real-world, you will also have a much easier time writing other important information. Why? Because when you get stuck (you will) writing other content, you can quickly reference the Elevator Pitch to remind you all of the really important stuff. What you really do, why you're doing it and what's purpose of it all. You'll also remember to look at from the perspective of the outside world and drop all the silly jargon.
