The Elevator Pitch: The elevator pitch is a powerful 10-30 second description of what you REALLY do, as opposed to an industry description of your profession. The Elevator Pitch from a Tony Robbins Competitive Edge Seminar back in the 90’s. Tony asked people to stand up and say what they did for a living. One gentleman stood up, and announced he was a Realtor. Then different women stood up and announced she was an insurance agent. Another stood up and said they were a stock broker. After several minutes, Tony then interrupted an mentioned that each of them likely made less than $150k a year! The crowd went silent. Then Tony had Marty Rodriguez stand up and announce what she did! Marty said, “I help everyday people become millionaires through buying and selling of real estate” vs. being just a REALTOR. It turns out, that Marty was the #1 Century 21 Real Estate agent in the world, and sold something like 300-500 homes a year. Another person stood up, and mentioned “He helped families protect their assets and their children’s future from having it taken away from the government or lawsuits”. Turns out he was the #1 insurance agent in North America for his company. Basically, the goal of an Elevator Pitch is to energize the words used to describe what you do, while separating you from the masses. If you are just a ‘Realtor’, ‘Insurance agent’; you will struggle just like the rest. To make a powerful elevator pitch, it should include: 1. How working with YOU will massively improve their world 2. Separate you from the Masses in your industry 3. Give them a massive reason to want to talk with you. 4. Truly hit on what you do, and how they will benefit. So what is your elevator pitch? Take a moment and write out your elevator pitch!
