Message from your Lecturing KnightWell this will be my Swan Song. Thank you for allowing me to be your Lecturing Knight for 2 years. It has been
a wonderful two years and I have enjoyed working with Rodney and all his ocers.

Of course, we are not nished yet. We will have more fun events and everyone should aend. Lets have more
Elks aend all our funcons.
Congratulaons on all the members that brought in new people, this year so far.
Thank you to Kelly, Sco and Crew for a wonderful job in the kitchen on Tuesday nights.
Everyone buy a brick and lets ll up the wall. I will be selling them, so please give me the applicaons.
Thanks again for a great two years as your ocer. What a pleasure to serve you all.
Be sure to support Reyne and her ocers.
Fraternally, Nancy Glueckers, Lecturing Knight, 2010-2013
Message from your Loyal Knight
Happy 2013 to you! I hope that your holidays were lled with good health and gathering with those that meanthe most to you. We had some great events before the year ended.
The tree trimming, potluck & Tom & Jerry had a fantasc turn out. The Elks Memorial service was well aend-
ed and a beauful tribute to those we lost this past year. Our Leading Knight - Reyne, her Elves, the Em-
blem's and our very own Santa made the children's Christmas party special. Harry and Bonnie headed up the
annual holiday trip along with members to the veterans in Long Beach. Our ER-Rodney and members made a
generous donaon at the Bob hope USO at LAX and we can't leave out the New Year's Eve party .
If you've been thinking about geng more involved in ANY aspect here at the lodge, why not check out the list of com-
miees or just talk to an ocer. It's so important that more members step up and become involved. The more that get in-
volved the more we can do as a lodge.
May your new year bring many new beginnings! If you haven't been to a meeng hope to see you there!
Fraternally,
Alyssa Santos, Loyal Knight

Happy New Year from First Lady Gina and I and we hope that your 2013 was brought in with a bang and will con-
nue to be a wonderful, blessed and prosperous year!
First, we hope that your Christmas was lled with family, love and memories. Christmas seemed a bit more spe-
cial this year than last and I think it was because our Lodge was so much more, busy than last year. Our Tom and
Jerry Pot Luck dinner was a huge success! We had tons of dierent foods to enjoy and we didnt run out, the
Lodge decorang party was a lot of fun and the Lodge looked very fesve and the Childrens Christmas party was
wonderful with at least 30 more kids aending than last year. Thanks to all that helped and parcipated in our events, especially
Santa!!!
Next, our New Years Eve party was a great success, even though we only had about 12 actual members from Gardena Lodge inaendance. We had 160 in aendance at the party. Our Friday night Fish Fry dancers provided 13 tables, San Pedro Elks had
three tables and Torrance Elks had half of a table. It really is a shame that our own membership was not at the Lodge funcon,
as we were out numbered by other lodge members to include the District Deputy Grand Exalted and his First Lady whom showed
up to thank Gardena Lodge for a great year in Elkdom. We had lots of compliments on the dinner, especially the lobster tails.
The dinner was Five Star restaurant qualies, all the way (Thanks, Leonard and Cherrystones help.) I want to especially thank all
those that came to the lodge for two days to set up for the evenings fesvies. You all did a really great job! (Yolanda, Steve,
Nellie, Maria, Marn, Bonnie, Maria, Daniel, Marias daughter and son in law, Helen, Maria, Jill, Shirley, and First Lady Gina.)
There were many compliments on the decoraons and set up.
Well, as this year of Elks is coming to an end, we need to stay focused and connue to remain
steadfast in our goals and accomplishments for our Lodge. We have elecon of ocers coming,
the Super Bowl Party, scholarships, Hoop Shoot, Birthday Ball, State Presidents visit, and the In-
augural Ball. (Make sure to check your calendar for specic dates.) We sll have me to add to
our 430+ membership. Remember, Just Ask.
Lastly, I have some not so good news. Our nances here at Gardena Lodge are barely and some-
mes not at all, allowing us to pay our monthly bills. We have many issues with the building that
need repair and or replacement, connued everyday expenses to keep the doors open and the
lights on and we have not been keeping our prices in line with the rise in the cost of doing busi-
ness. Therefore, I am leng the membership know now, that before our new Exalted Rulers
Installaon, I will be meeng with the House Commiee and Trustees to raise prices in most are-
as of the Lodge operaons. This will include but not limited to, banquet rental prices, meal pric-
es for Friday Night Fish Fry, Eggs to Order Breakfast, Cook Your Own Steak, Tuesday Night Ham-burger, Liquor prices in the Jolly Cork and possibly our yearly dues. Im sorry, to be the bearer of
bad news, but if we want to connue to have an Elks Lodge and enjoy all the benets that are
aorded to us through Elks, we need to be realisc and see that we cannot connue to give the
store away. Thanks for your understanding in advance.
Fraternally,
Exalted Ruler Rodney Tanaka
