Learn2b Tutors and PartnersOur tutors are selected specifically because of their own lived experience of mental health illness and opportunity. Qualified in subject matter and passionate about the principles of Learn2b, they are able to support individuals through a variety of teaching and learning in a safe and welcoming environment.

Our partner, NHS Foundation Trust facilitates through the use of clinical practitioners, some of the more specialist courses (red codes).

Bursary GrantsWhere possible we try and use town centre facilities but we also like to be able to offer the provision across the county.

Choosing the right course for you.

Information and support is offered to help you progress from small groups to other learning opportunities such as our main fee paying PCDL programme – or to help you gain the self-confidence and skills to move on to employment – paid or voluntary.

Some of you may wish to join our mentoring volunteer teaching assistant programme – where you will work with a mentor supporting courses which could lead to paid position after training. Ask for details if you are interested.

In addition – this term we are planning to hold a number of sessions for carers/friends/relatives that help support those with mental health distress/long term medical conditions/learning disabilities etc., to give some respite for a few hours and acknowledge the tremendous work that goes on as a carer.

PLUS for the first time Learn2b are working in partnership with Northampton Borough Council to help encourage community involvement as well as enhancing wellbeing through a day-to-day activity…Gardening.

Learn to develop a gardening plot over 4 weeks with volunteers who can then carry on the good work and enhance their own outlook from their windows as well as their own wellbeing. Residents from Eleanor House will be encouraged to help this first time initiative.

If you have ticked mostly blue/red – you have the option of accessing either the red or blue courses.

The red courses are delivered by clinical mental health professionals to provide support in a structured environment. You can choose to sit quietly and absorb the new knowledge and skills or you can join in with the interactive aspects of the learning.

The blue courses offer creative expression, arts and crafts, and physical activity sessions where there is an opportunity to talk about feelings and emotions in a safe environment without this being the main focus of the course.

These courses are designed to encourage your wellbeing, give you an opportunity to have some ‘time out’, learn something new and start to gain confidence in a social setting with like-minded people. When you are ready, you can think about moving on to amber courses that help improve self-esteem, confidence, and reduce anxiety/stress.

If you have ticked mostly amber –creative expression, arts and crafts, dance and/or physical activity courses will all help improve your wellbeing.

Also think about introductory courses in self-help methods which will give you the tools to change the way you feel/think/behave. Then as you gain confidence move on to the next level of courses (green) in these areas.

If you have ticked mostly green – you’ve already gained some confidence in a social setting, have a better understanding of how you feel and what makes you happy but may need to take the next step to promote longer periods of ‘good times’.

Any of the courses available would continue to improve your wellbeing but also think about trying courses that will challenge you, open you up to new ideas and explore new ways of coping with day-to-day feelings of stress and anxiety.

Gardening is good for you everyone says so. Planning, planting, nurturing, getting hands dirty and a dose of fresh air can help restore a natural balance; feeling happier, healthier and more confident will help with relieving stress and anxiety.

Combination DaysA full day of taster sessions where you can try your hand at a variety of subjects, socialise and discover hidden talents. These combination days are suitable for everyone.

Please note: This is a full one day workshop, please bring water to drink, lunch and snacks to keep you going throughout the day.

WellbeingCourses delivered by tutors who have lived experience of mental health distress and/or clinical practitioners to help discover triggers that affect mental health. Introductory one day sessions can lead to longer courses – start by finding out about you as a person and then develop further strategies to help cope with everyday anxieties.

Focus on Men’s HealthOur focus for these courses is to encourage more male participants throughout the Learn2b programme. Research from the NHS Information Centre1, show on a national scale 41% of men as overweight and by 2020 it is forecasted to rise to 80%2. This can have a detrimental effect on mental and physical health.
