G reetings in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I trust that you and your family are doing well and that the blessings of the Lord continue to man-ifest in everything you do. As we enter into the month of May, we focus our thoughts on Jubilation. Jubilation is defined as a feeling of or the expression of joy or exultation. As believers, God is constantly giving us reasons to be joyful and jubilant. He is constantly manifesting blessings, benefits and showing us His faithfulness. Jeremiah writes in Lamentation 3:22 “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not con-sumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness.” The Psalmist writes in Psalms 68:19 “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our Salvation,. Selah” If we meditate on these two scriptures and the wealth of scriptures in God’s Word that promote the same theme, we will never run out of reasons to be jubilant. In fact there are so many bless-ings promised to us in God’s Word, that there is enough to meditate on for every day of the year! The song writer wrote “Everyday is a day of Thanksgivings, because everyday He’s blessing me! As believers we should be well acquainted with jubilation. In fact, it is one of our distinc-tive characteristics. . It is in our DNA to be jubilant and joyful. The scripture states that Praise is comely for the upright. When we are jubilant we are at our best. We charge the atmosphere with joy and gladness and send gloom and sadness away. When others come into our presence, they are absorbed in the power of jubilation. If they were down, they are lifted. If they were troubled, they find peace. If they were hurting, they find comfort. The fact is that we are more effective as believers when we are glad vs. sad! Not only do we have too many Christians who are consumed in doom and gloom, but we have too many Christians who are clean, and mean! When we allow the cares and challenges of this life to cause us to be sad and mean, we drive potential believers away instead of drawing them near. Our message, witness, and service to others are most powerful when we say it and do in the spirit of love, kindness and jubilation. The reality is, if we are not excited and jubilant about what we believe, others will not be interested in hav-ing what we have.

Jubilation continued
Page 2 Emanuel ExpressNews Emanuel ExpressNews
A jubilant demeanor and attitude is not only beneficial to others, but it is beneficial to you as a believer. The scripture says “The Joy of the Lord is our Strength!” It is when we are jubilant, and joyful in our walk with God that we find strength for our struggles, advantage in our adversities and triumph in our trials. Too many have been defeated because they fail to find the joy in their salvation. They are bored, and lethargic in their walk. They have lost their excitement and as a result coming to church is a chore. They come to church at 11:00 sharp and leave at 12:00 dull! In order to remain steadfast in our jubilation, we must ensure that the source of our joy is in the Lord. Too many place their joy in the secularism of this world. Our joy is rooted in our health, wealth, family, people, positions, occu-pations, leisure and pleasurable activities. The problem is that all of these things will become old and eventually fail. But when our joy is rooted in Christ and His sacrificial love for us, we will experience a constant, ever present, supernatural joy that will well up in our souls. During this month of Jubilation and in this post resurrection season, I encourage you to look to Jesus to find real joy. Look to the mani-festation of our salvation through His shed blood on the cross. Look to His victorious Resurrection, where He defeated death, hell and the grave. Look to His ever abiding presence, power and provision. And finally look to His soon coming, when He will come back for His saints. That will be the day of ultimate Jubilation!!.
Be Blessed,
Pastor Richardson

I t’s always a doubleheader on Good Friday for me. On Friday morning April 18th I started my day by attend-
ing the First Jurisdiction Illinois United Good Friday Service at St. John Church of God in Christ under the
direction of our Prelate, Bishop Ocie Booker. Every year we look forward to hearing great singing, great
preaching and great fellowship. This year was no different. Our capable facilitator was Pastor Kenneth Lock-
hart. The mass choir was top notch along with the moving sermonic selection from Mother Vernon Oliver
Price. The highlight of the service was the preached word, a collaborative effort that was simply awesome.
Seven of the jurisdiction’s finest speakers gave their exegesis on Jesus’ Seven Last Words from the Cross.
They were well prepared and gave us great revelation and insight of their assigned scripture passages. The
speakers for this year were:
Elder David Sanders - “Father Forgive Them for They Know Not What They Do”
Pastor Alvin Perryman - “Today Thou Shall Be With Me In Paradise”
District Missionary Dr. Maria Carey - “Woman Behold Your Son” -
Pastor Larry Haynes - “My God, My God Why Has Thou Forsaken Me”
Pastor Rex Peel - “I Thirst”
District Missionary Elizabeth Kindred - “It Is Finished”
Pastor Anthony Wallace - “Father, Into Thy Hands I Commend My Spirit”
After the Word, we received Holy Communion that was administered by Bishop Booker. Everyone was wel-
comed to take a part in this sacred service. Immediately following the dismissal, the gracious Host Pastor Elder
Anthony Wallace had food prepared for everyone to take with them.
I ended the day at my own church for our Good Friday Service. We upheld our long standing tradition of hav-
ing seven speakers to come forth with Jesus’ Last Words on the Cross and wearing something red to repre-
sents Jesus’ blood being shed for us.

Regular exercise and physical activity are important to the
physical and mental health of everyone, including older adults.
Being physically active can help you continue to do the things
you enjoy and stay independent as you age. Regular physical
activity over long periods of time can produce long term
health benefits. Furthermore, regular exercise and physical
activity can reduce the risk of developing some diseases and disabilities that develop as people grow older. In some cases,
exercise is an effective treatment for many chronic condi-
tions. Studies show that people with arthritis, heart disease, or diabetes benefit from regular ex-
ercise. Exercise also helps people with high blood pressure, balance problems, or difficulty walk-
ing.
Benefits of exercise and physical activity:
Help maintain and improve your physical strength and fitness
Help improve your ability to do the things you want to do
Help improve your balance
Help manage and prevent diseases like diabetes, heart disease, breast and colon cancer and
osteoporosis
Help reduce feelings of depression, may improve mood and overall well-being, and may im-
prove or maintain some aspects of cognitive function.
Be Healthy. Get Fit. Be Happy
Think about a typical weekday and weekend day. How much time do you spend sitting? How
much time are you active? When you’re up and moving, what kinds of activities are you doing?
Keep track of how much time you exercise or are physically active. If you’re not active yet, aim
for a modest beginning and build from there. If you are already active, then challenge yourself by
adding to your regular activities.
Remember it starts with you! The benefits you gain from physical activity will depend on your
starting point and how much effort you put into it. Match your physical activity to your own
needs and abilities but most of all, MAKE IT FUN! Submitted by: Sister Nekia Thomas

*Challenge: Start today! For the next 30 days record your
physical activity. Exercise for 15 minutes a day. If you al-
ready exercise regularly, increase your workout by 15
minutes. The goal is to find ways to increase your physical
activity and improve your health.

We’ve had some ups and downs, some
smiles, laughter and frown. We’ve been elat-
ed, danced and rejoiced, prayed and praised
God, All in one voice.
There are yet eight months in which to get it
right, to pray and beseech God both day and
night, He’s always by our side, if in Him we
will abide.

We are now five months into the New Year Which isn’t so new anymore Many resolutions, vows and promises, have al-ready begun to soar out the window, out the door, never to surface anymore Friends and loved ones have become ill, some have passed away. We have felt lost, alone, rejected and cried and found it difficult to pray.
This financial tip is about adding value to your
home. Even if you are not looking to sell your home it is important to know how to keep the
value to your current home. Here are a few things you can do.
Clean your home and get rid of clutter.
Recycle items or get rid of out of date furniture and TVs.
Get organized and get storage containers that look good. Update your cabinet handles or touch up the paint.
Fix broken appliances or replace them. Paint the walls and remove out dated wallpaper.
Add curb appeal by doing your lawn, trimming bushes, and adding flowers. Check the lighting in your rooms.
Look at your front door and enter way. It should be a welcoming space. This is the time for Spring Cleaning and time to do some updating as well.
