DIGINET is a simple, intelligent emergency lighting management system designed by industry experts to effectively manage and monitor the status of emergency lighting within a network. DIGINET utilises a DALI international open protocol to communicate between luminaires and the computer software.

3 x typical system styles

FOOLPROOF INSTALLATIONThe DIGINET System is as simple to install as a non-monitored single point system, just install the emergency lights as per plans and by using a CMS type cabling connection method, the system should not be compromised by poor cable connection. The ‘plug & play’ type cabling will connect to a small wall mounted LCD display computer, then by simply commissioning each product into the computer the system is ready to go.

SELF MONITORINGDIGINET is self monitoring, it can diagnose system and product faults in readiness for maintenance access at either the 6 monthly test or anytime in between.

INDEPENDENT OR COMPLETE-YOUR CHOICEYou can choose whether to cable for an independent DIGINET Emergency Lighting Management system or a Complete DALI Lighting Management system, the cabling and connection remains the same simple method for both systems therefore both systems can connect to the same wiring loop. This will reduce Labor, Cost and confusion.

EASY SYSTEM CONTROLSThe DIGINET system features a unique LCD graphical user interface type computer to control and monitor. This is accessible via ethernet, LAN, WAN etc. The LCD control panel can be located in an electrical/data riser, front desk etc. and accessed on any PC via an allocated IP address over the internet.

SIMPLE AUSTRALIAN STANDARDS COMPLIANCEThe DIGINET emergency lighting management system makes compliance with AS2293.2 and various State and Local regulations very easy. The system is designed to run the required 6 monthly discharge tests, create maintenance logs and run compliance reports to assist in making sure that a crucial building safety system stays operational. Pierlite emergency luminaires have captured the essence of design presence and continuity, satisfying the designer’s needs and the installer’s installation criteria. Meeting with compliance to IEC60598-2-22 enables the design of emergency lighting units to be more flexible. EMCElectromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) under the opus of AS/NZS4051:1998 deals with devices such as lighting/emergency lighting products that may have the potential to cause interference to radio communication systems. This may be mains disturbance (noise down the line), radiation (giving out interfering frequencies from components) or deceptability (interference of frequency due to external noise).Under AS/NZS4051:1998 lighting/emergency lighting products must comply with disturbance levels between 9 KHz and 30 MHz. All Pierlite lighting/emergency lighting products comply with the above standard. EMERGENCY EVACUATION LIGHTING FOR BUILDINGS - AS/NZS2293.1Spacing of emegency luminaires in AustraliaSpacing of emergency luminaires are based on illuminance calculations where the light reaches the floor directly from the emergency light source. Minimum illuminance level for emergency lighting is 0.2 lux.

Formula for spacing of emergency luminaires in New Zealand is:LC(NZ) = LC(AUST) 6 - (6.6 x UF) LC(AUST) - Classification of emergency luminaire to Australian standard. ie: DB136M

Information & Wiring Guidelines for Powerpacks & InvertersPlease read these instructions carefully before installing or maintaining this equipment. This data should be used as a guide only. Good electrical practices should be followed at all times.Recommended Installation /Maintenance GuidelinesThe installer is responsible for all relevant safety and building code standards.Do Not Megga After InstallationIt is recommended to disconnect live and neutral wires from the unit before an insulation resistance check.Converting An Existing LuminaireInstalling a Power Pack will usually void the manufacturer’s warranty and EMC compliance. It is the installer’s responsibility to comply with relevant wiring, EMC and emergency lighting requirements in accordance with the relevant sections of AS2293 which may include the necessity to have the luminaire tested and certified both thermally and photometrically. Power Packs normally installed inside the luminaire may require the repositioning of components in the luminaire, ie. starter, ballast, capacitor. Any of the components being utilised that now show signs of end of life should be replaced at the time of converting the power pack. It is also advised that the internal wiring be replaced using the recommended high temperature cable (V90) minimum.Use Of Remote EnclosuresThermal conditions and/or lack of space in the luminaire may result in remote mounting

of the power pack in an appropriate remote enclosure. Ensure the following is taken into account:-Ensure test switch is accessible during re-lamping. It may be mounted within the luminaire or remote enclosure.LED is to be visible during normal operation irrespective of mounting within the luminaire or remote enclosure.Connecting cables to the enclosure are not to exceed 1 metre.Resistance of the battery wires are not to exceed 0.5ohms.Ensure battery leads are kept as short as possible.Testing The Conversion Of the LuminaireConfirm its electrical safety and its operation.Confirm the temperature of main components utilised in the luminaire comply with recommended requirements.The luminaire should be mounted as intended. The ambient temperature is to be as expected for the luminaire’s intended environment.Apply maximum voltage prescribed for a period of 24 hours, then switch off the luminaire and ensure that it provides appropriate emergency duration in accordance with relevant standards.Examine temperature of relevant components. If components comply with the prescribed temperature, then the balance of the luminaire may be converted the same way.

NoteBILW Power Packs incorporate a thermistor to protect componentry from overheating in excessive temperatures. Once tripped it may only be reset by switching off the mains. Once stable conditions are achieved, reconnect mains. Pierlite emergency luminaires have Ta Ratings from Ta30 to Ta40.When installing a BILW power pad feed the supply cable through the appropriate cable entry. Avoid obstruction to mounting holes, other lighting componentry and covers.It is recommended that a full duration test is carried out prior to commissioning. Upon appropriate connection, initially charge the luminaire for a minimum of 24 hours. Upon charging, the red LED will light indicating that mains is present and batteries are charging.After 24 hours disconnect the supply and check for the rated duration period. Pressing the test button carries out a quick confidence test.Routine tests should be carried out in accordance with the relevant Standards, with all results and status recorded in a log book.Batteries are to be replaced with the same Pierlite battery pack. The model number is stamped on the battery pack. When disposing of batteries do not pierce, incinerate or short circuit. Batteries should be disposed of in accordance with recognised disposal methods.Powerpacks and inverters are designed to operate on 230V AC 50/60Hz

Due to the wide variety of electronic ballast units and connection styles available, it is advisable that the luminaire be fully tested to prove its correct functionality.

GUIDE TO SAFE HANDLING OF LIGHTING PRODUCTS CONTAINING BATTERY SYSTEMS.

Introduction:Battery systems are an essential component in a number of lighting products, especially emergency lighting systems, which require an alternative energy source when the traditional mains supply source fails.

Handling and maintenance procedures for lighting battery circuits is no different to handling conventional battery components ie: scheduled maintenance is an essential process in maintaining the components service life and disposal of the components at the end of the service should be conducted in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

The following information serves as a guide to safe handling and maintenance of Pierlite Lighting products containing battery components.

• Battery performance should be checked on a regular schedule and components replaced when the performance falls below the manufacturer’s specification.

• Failed components should be disposed of in accordance with local waste management requirements.

• In the instance of a catastrophic failure resulting in a ruptured battery casing, the component should be handled with extreme care, avoiding contact with the installer’s skin, eye or inhalation. Suitable protective clothing is recommended for such maintenance procedures.

• The components and contaminated protective clothing should then be disposed of in accordance with your local waste management requirements.

• If skin or clothing comes in contact with fluid from a Nickel Cadmium (NiCad) or Nickel Metal (NiMH) battery, thoroughly wash the area immediately with clean water and seek medical care where needed.
