The1424isOneAccess’EthernetAccessDevicewithSHDSL.bisEFMtechnology.Ittargetsbusinesscustomerswithaneedforhighspeedsymmetricalbandwidthatvarious local loopdistances. With itsadvanced layer2 featuresandMEFcertification,the1424meetsalltherequirementsforaccesstoMetroEthernetnetworks.ThedeviceisinteroperablewithallmajorIPDSLAMvendors.

HighSpeedDSLAccessThe1424SHDSL.bisEADtargetsbusinesscustomerswithaneedforhighspeedsymmetricalbandwidthinvariousDSLnetworksandatvariouslocalloopdistances.ItincludesaSHDSL.bisinterfaceupto4copperpairs.Thisprovideslineratesupto22Mbpsonshortdistancesandupto10Mbpsonoperatorstandardlooplengths.ThevariouspairbondingtechniquesmakeitsuitableforanytypeofDSLinfrastructure.ThesymmetricallineratesofSHDSLperfectlymatchthetrafficprofilesofbusinessusers.ProvidingEthernetintheFirstMileoverSHDSL.bis,the1424isinteroperablewiththemajorIPDSLAMvendors.

ExtensiveFeatureSetThisaccessequipmenthasbeendesignedtobeusedinaprofessionalenvironmentrequiringadvancedfeaturessuchasnativelayer2support,advancedroutingprotocols(OSPF,BGP),advancedmultilevelQoSsupport,severalVPNimplementations(IPSec,GRE,L2TP)andmanymanagementoptions.Backupscenariosareavailableincluding3GbackupviaanexternalUSBdongle.ThiseliminatestheneedtoinstalladditionalrouterequipmenttodeliverInternetorIPVPNservicestobusinesscustomers.Withabidirectional forwardingperformanceof250Kpps, the1424SHDSL.bisEADeasilyhandlesall layer2and3servicesat22Mbps.

MetroEthernetServicesEthernetfeaturesincludemanybridgecacheoptions,STP,RSTP,MSTP,advancedVLANfeaturesandEthernetOAM.QualityofServiceisavailablebothonIPandEthernetpacketswithfiltering,classificationandcolouringbasedonlayer2andlayer3characteristics,manypriorityschedulingoptions,policingandshaping.The1424fullycomplieswiththeMEF.9andMEF.14requirementsasdefinedbytheMetroEthernetForum.

SmoothMigrationfromATMtoEFMNetworksOperatorsgraduallymigratefromATMbasedaccessnetworkstoEthernetbasedaccessnetworks.The1424supportsbothnetworktypes.Thismeansthata1424canbeinstalledinanexistingATMnetwork.WhenthenetworkmigratestoEthernet,thesame1424canbere-usedintheEthernetnetworkwithouton-siteintervention.TheuniquefeatureofcombiningATMandEFMaccessinthesamedeviceleveragesasmoothmigrationoftheaccessnetwork.
