Streetlife has an in-house design and engineering

team led by Peter Krouwel. The innovative designs

have received several design awards: Good Industrial

Design, Nomination for The Dutch Design Prize,

Nomination for The German Design Prize.

Peter Krouwel was a partner of npk design for

25 years and, as such, responsible for the new-style

post boxes (TNT) and the nationwide signposting for

Dutch motorways of the ANWB Motorists’ Association,

among other prize-winning designs. He was also

a member of the Academic Council of the Design

Academy Eindhoven (NL) for five years.

Streetlife is Green

A key factor in our choice of materials and product development is

the equation ‘sustainable = eco-friendly + durable’, for example:

1. The application of renewable energy solutions (such as

electricity generation by wind energy) in outdoor space.

2. Use of CorTen steel for open-space development elements,

with no zinc leaching.

3. Exclusive use of 100% FSC or FSC Recycled hardwood from

sustainably managed FSC forests in Europe and South America.

4. Use of various composite materials as eco-friendly alternatives

for traditional materials.

5. State-of-the-art tree planters and tree care systems allowing

more shrubbery to be planted in urban spaces, i.e. reduced CO2

and fine particle levels, also beneficial for climate control in

large buildings.

New Parklands Stratford 2012

A completely new bench seating concept was designed and

developed for the Olympic Parklands in London in partnership

with architects LDA Design, Hargreaves Associates and

engineering firm ARUP: the Olympic Wave Bench (see p. 80A).

Streetlife supplied several hundred benches for the Olympic

Parklands including the architectural Long&Lean Benches

(see p. 82A), the rugged Rough&Ready benches along

the Waterworks River (see p. 21A) and the pre-fabricated WoodTop

Modulus (see p. 56A).

Streetlife has created a highly coherent landscape design using

sustainable 100% FSC or FSC Recycled hardwood as part of one of

the most ambitious landscape architecture projects of its age.

‘Design & Deliver’

In addition to Streetlife’s permanent collection, it is also possible

to commission Streetlife to custom design your project on a

fixed-fee basis or as part of a design & deliver contract. By

applying years of experience selecting materials for outdoor usage

and our extensive production technology expertise, Streetlife

makes a formidable design partner.

With our newly founded Design Lab “Bee Product” with talented

young designers, we are now able to provide high-quality designs

– better than ever before – to match any budget and to develop

CorTen SteelThe use of CorTen steel in public space does not harm or may even

add to the attractive looks of the natural surroundings.

CorTen steel can be applied outdoors without any environment-

unfriendly treatment such as zinc or chemical coatings.

CorTen is a steel alloy with added chromium, copper and nickel on

which, after having been exposed to the elements for about six

months, a dense, water and air-tight patina of rust will appear,

which will prevent the steel from rusting any further.

Streetlife supplies various products in CorTen steel. Apart from

its warm charisma, CorTen steel has a number of advantages:

it is environment-friendly, graffiti and sticker-resistant, shows an

attractive fading effect from orange to brown and due to its natural

oxidation, any repairs or alterations to a CorTen steel structure will

become invisible in time.

The mark of responsible foresty

FSC® Hardwood

In 1993, the Forest Stewardship Council was founded. This is

an international network for promoting responsible forest

management. FSC sets an international standard for good forest

management and has a seal of approval associated with this

standard. The FSC seal of approval provides assurance that

the raw materials in wood and paper products have come from

sustainably managed forests where attention is given to the

ecological, social and economic aspects (such as working

conditions and fair wages for local workers) and bio-diversity is

effectively protected. FSC is therefore not a government seal of

approval. FSC is an important instrument in combatting illegal

felling and deforestation.

The seal of approval demonstrates that a company is conforming

to the guidelines of the Forest Stewardship Council and that its

policy is approved.

Streetlife is certified by the FSC as a ‘Chain Of Custody’ (COC).

This means that the wood, or wood product, is administratively

tracked through every stage of its processing and distribution.

This means the (end) user can rest assured that the material in

a product really does come from sustainably managed forests and

has been processed by companies that subscribe to the FSC’s

norms and values. Streetlife is certified for 3 variants: FSC-100%

(all the wood from an FSC-approved source), FSC-Mix (partly from

an FSC-approved source) and FSC-Recycled (wood that is recycled

under specific conditions).

Both certificates are used for the project that was recently

completed: 4 bench models for the New Parklands in Stratford.

Our Rough&Ready benches are sturdy and robust. The beams

made of durable FSC hardwood are 15 cm thick. They are fixed to

the galvanized supports by means of our stainless steel and

theft-proof Streetlock® comb system. The optional backrest is

convexly planed and can be fixed at various positions.

R&R-5 has 5 beams and triangular supports.

R&R-6 has 6 beams and rectangular supports which can be linked

to create a very long bench.

R&R-10 is a double sided bench which can also be linked.

For larger orders (20 benches or more) CorTen steel supports are

available, at an extra charge.

There is also a 300 cm long FSC hardwood bench available in the

R&R-6 and R&R-10 versions, with spacers under the beams to

ensure proper alignment.

Minimum order is 5 benches. Delivery time 10-12 weeks.

The R&R bench has the Streetlock® system incorporated in

the support design. The robust beams are locked with two sets of

theft-proof stainless steel nuts.

This construction allows the beams to be exchanged and turned

over to conceal any damage or vandalism. Sanding every

1 or 2 years will remove graffiti and make the bench even more

appealing.

The connection supports allow the benches to be linked without limit, as at the hospital in Haarlem (NL).

Maintenance of R&R beams:

Sanding the wooden beams will remove graffiti and makes

the bench even more beautiful.

The hardwood beams can also be treated, if required,

with an invisible coating that slows down greying considerably.

The beams are graffiti-repellent and can be turned over if required.

The Rough&Ready benches can also be made in All Black or Snow

White. These versions are ‘zero maintenance’.

The robust beams in the R&R programme are available in 3

materials:

a- Standard: FSC-100% hardwood from certified South-American

tree forestry plantations, maximum length 300 cm. Streetlife is

certified as a COC: ‘Chain of Custody’.

b- FSC-Recycled: antique, 30-year old hardwood, sawn from

old mooring posts. This Basralocus is beautiful, and of course

some cracking and marks from insects are part of the charm of

this reused hardwood. Maximum length is 234 cm. Used, for

example, for the benches in the New Parklands in Stratford.

c- Recycled black plastic (from agricultural plastic sheeting and

plastic bags) All Black or virgin plastic Snow White.

These beams are thoroughly black or white and have a coarse

wood texture. Some air inclusions at the ends of these beams

are unavoidable.

The R&R-6 benches are available with a low backrest that has

been rounded to give comfortable support to the lower back.

The high backrest is also comfortably rounded off and

is positioned asymmetrically. In combination with the armrest,

this bench is also highly suitable for older people. We recommend

its installation at hospitals, nursing homes and other care

institutions.

As well as FSC 100% hardwood, FSC-Recycled hardwood is also an

excellent choice for the planks (7x15 cm).

With a view to the ambitious standards for the Games in London in

terms of sustainability and eco-friendliness, the landscape

architects of the LDA Design and the Steering Committee were

charmed by this choice of material. Streetlife supplied several

dozen R&R benches for installation along the Water Works in

the New Parklands. The FSC-Recycled hardwood is 30-year old

Basralocus. Some insect marks and a small amount of cracking

are unavoidable in this antique wood.

with limit by connection supports.

The Rough&Ready 10 Cubes are the square shaped version

of these spacious benches. They form playful elements and

As the name implies, the Rough&Ready Curve benches are

curved and display unique character. The single bench is 200 cm

long and 60 cm deep. The benches can be linked together,

to create a long, curved bench or a twisting serpentine

configuration. The accompanying backrest is slightly convex and

can be mounted at almost any position required. Owing to the

positioning of the beams, the Curve benches will not be damaged

by skaters!

The outer radius of this R&R Curve bench is approx. 800 cm.

Our R&R Curve system has three circularconfigurations:

3, 4 and 5 metres in diameter. These are well-designed benches,

ideal for a layout around monumental trees. The convexly planed

backrests are optional.

The supports and curved frame are made of thermo-galvanized

steel.

The circular benches are made of 100% FSC hardwood.

They are also available with All Black (recycled plastic) or

Snow White beams!

The Gaint Circular Benches can be extended with a ‘Second Row’.

These circular seating configurations radiate a powerful aura of

monumental stability. Sitting on a raised platform provides more

dynamism and a better view of the surroundings. The steel

support is in a modified, raised version. Because of

the overhanging upper seat level, the back elements can only be

fitted on the ‘Second Row’. Armrests can be fitted on each place.

Because of the enormous lengths of seating, these configurations

call for a substantial budget.

Our R&R Topseats are loose seats that are mounted on a stone,

brick or concrete 30 cm high concrete or brick wall.

The FSC hardwood beams are robust and locked into stainless-

steel Streetlock® comb fittings, which are invisibly embedded in

the wall or concrete block. Two different models are available:

• The R&R 5/6 Topseats are long, straight seats. The modules have

a length of 234 or 300 cm. The beams are attached by means of

a double rod and stainless-steel theft-proof flanged nuts.

A backrest element is optional: R&R-1540-Back.

• The R&R Curve Topseats are ideal for topping slightly curved

walls or for circular configurations. The modules are not

self-supporting. They can be equipped with slightly convex

backrests if required: R&R-Curve 60-Back. The short beams are

incorporated into long stainless-steel Streetlock® comb fittings,

and are supplied in module lengths of approx. 2 m.

Minimum order 10 metres of seat length.

The Rough&Ready programme is also available in black beams made

of re-used synthetic material (old plastic bags, agricultural plastic

sheeting, etc.) that is black throughout: All Black.

This sustainable material requires no maintenance and has a coarse

texture. Ink and paint cannot penetrate the surface and will hardly

adhere. The black beams and stainless-steel theft-proof nuts give

the R&R benches an even tougher, more robust appearance!

The black material is a compound of re-used synthetic materials

(PE and PP). They remain black due to the UV-stabilization process

they have undergone. They have been categorized as Fire Class 3

according to NEN 6065. In contrast to wood, no maintenance is

needed. The material does not discolour, is extremely durable and is

extremely environment-friendly (no additives except black soot).

Some air inclusions at the beam ends are unavoidable.

The R&R-benches All Black are available in lengths of 200 cm and

275 cm. Our R&R-5 benches are not available in All Black.

The Rough&Ready benches in Snow White are environment-

friendly, relaxing and trendy. The material is thoroughly white.

These white benches are made out of new plastic and have a

coarse texture supported by galvanized steel supports.

Despite the application of a UV-stabilisation filter,

slight discolouration due to sunlight are possible in time.

Some air inclusions at the beam ends are unavoidable.

Fire resistance: class 3, in accordance with NEN 6065 standard.

R&R Snow White benches come in lengths of 200 - 275 cm and

have galvanized steel supports.

The R&R-5 benches are not available in Snow White.

Shrubs, bamboo, hedges and climbers are ideal green options for the Big Green Benches.

The Big Green Benches are made of CorTen steel with a FSC

hardwood sitting edge. This sitting edge, in the Rough&Ready

version, is splendidly detailed, with inserted wooden beams.

These benches can be furnished with shrubs, bamboo or climbers.

The benches are extremely solid but remain movable. It is possible

to supply these benches with an open bottom (OB version) so that

shrubs or trees can take root in the open ground. They are also

extremely suitable for bamboo or climbers for façade greenery.

Long Green BenchesThe Long Green Benches are made of CorTen steel with individual

seats made of FSC hardwood. These Solid Single Seats measuring

50x50x7 cm are fitted with a Streetlock® comb and partly

embedded in the steel. At 450 cm, the Long Green Benches are

long as the name implies. The 225x180 cm rectangular model can

also be doubled to 450 cm. The Long Green Benches are also

available with an open base (OB model) so that shrubs or trees

can take root in the soil below. In CorTen steel and optionally

double powder coated in a RAL colour in line with

the ‘CorTen – Colour’ page 21B.

CorTen Seat StripsWith the CorTen Seat Strips, it is possible to install a long CorTen

strip 47 cm in height into the ground surface. Several functions,

such as bench, waste bin, bicycle parking and greenery,

can be incorporated in a single strip-shaped element. By reducing

traditional, separate street furniture to a single, long line, one can

create a streamlined and impressive urban landscape while

reducing maintenance.

A special application is the protection of vulnerable facades that

can be objects of ram-raiding, such as cash dispensers,

bank entrances and jeweller’s shops.

The above-ground cross-section is 47x47 cm. We recommend

a ground level fall of less than 10 cm over the length of the strip,

considering the underground depth of approx. 20 cm.

CorTen Seat Strips

The Strip modules with FSC hardwood seats are 150, 200 cm and

300 cm in length. The modules are embedded 20 cm into

the ground surface. No separate foundation is required, thanks to

the integral foundation solution.

The seats are fitted with the patented Streetlock® comb system

and are countersunk into the steel structure using anti-theft

stainless steel flanged nuts. They project from the CorTen steel on

both sides and on the top.


Logos etc. can be included for an additional fee.

If desired, a circular hole (Ø 20 cm) can be included at the dividing

line between 2 adjacent modules so that a small tree can be

planted in the soil. For installation around an existing tree,

the construction has to be modified.

The paper bin module is 150 cm long and is fitted with a hinging

lid that can be opened with a triangular key. The module has a

lowered bottom to provide room for a 120-litre plastic waste bag

or separate, composite waste container.

Podium Isles

The Podium Isle system can be used to create islands of seats

and podiums in the city. A CorTen steel base construction

supports sturdy Solid slats measuring 7x7 cm with a maximum

length of 300 cm. The gap between each slat is only 8 mm wide.

The modules come in two main dimensions, 300x300 cm or

450x450 cm. In the latter, the slats are attached in staggered

rows.

The system is delivered in modular parts with prefab slat modules.

The Podium Island terminates with a 7x15 cm end slat. Apertures

for trees can be included with a separate construction.

The steel subframe is embedded 15 cm deep into the ground

surface. No separate foundation is required. A permeable, narrow

drain between the steel and the stones is recommended.

Surf IslesStreetlife regularly receives requests for more complex,

3-dimensional seating islands. For this purpose, we have

developed the undulating Surf Isles.

The system is derived from the podium Isles system and is also

based on self-supporting Solid slats measuring 7x7 cm in

cross-section and 300 cm in length. The laser-cut, stepped CorTen

steel subframe creates a 3D, slightly undulating wooden surface.

A striking, contemporary furnishing element, especially suitable

for use in schools and universities. Dimensions and degree of

curvature to be agreed in consultation.

The Cliff Hanger Park Benches are hanging park benches

attached to a sturdy wall. The finely detailed bench system has a

modular interval of 120 cm. The prefab slat segments are

composed of

5x5 cm 100% FSC hardwood slats with an 8 mm gap between

each slat. The slats are mounted on the patented Streetlock®

combs.

The slat segments have staggered slats at the joins and these fit

into each other like the teeth of forks. The effect of these toothed,

staggered slats reinforces the continuous character of these

attractive park benches.

Due to the 12-cm overhang at each end, the primary length is

264 cm (2-segment bench). This length can be extended by

120 cm at a time to produce 384, 504, 624 cm etc.

Our Wood Top System consists of prefabricated slat modules that

are invisibly mounted on a steel or concrete sub-construction.

The prefab slat modules are prefabricated mounted by means of

stainless-steel Streetlock® comb fittings (in a mini-variant).

Ultimately no screws are at all visible, yet the slats can easily be

replaced in cases of maintenance. The slats are made of 100% FSC

hardwood: 35x57 mm. The gab width between the slats is

15 mm. The front and back can be optionally finished with

a vertical slat using the special, stainless steel, anti-theft flanged

nuts. Horizontal as well as vertical assembly is possible.

Minimum order 25 m². Delivery time 10-14 weeks.

Concrete Camber SeatsThe Concrete Camber Seats are switchable modules made of

concrete and FSC hardwood. The modules can be used to create

long guiding or demarcating lines in the urban landscape.

They form both a long seating element and a barrier. They can

sometimes also be used to mark differences in ground level.

The strops, made of qualified compressed concrete are always

fitted with slightly concave Solid Top Seats. The FSC hardwood

slats (7x7 cm) are solid and sturdy. They are attached to a

patented Streetlock® comb with stainless steel anti-theft nuts.

The seat is attached to the concrete with concealed attachments.

The 2 lengths are 180 and 240 cm and the 2 widths are 6 (8-slats)

and 90 cm (12-slats). The concrete elements have inset lifting

points for rapid installation. Colouring of the concrete is only

possible with orders of at least 30 items.

In terms of design, our Solid Benches are modest and

‘minimalistic’. Both the wooden seat and the steel supports have

a closed (solid) character.

The FSC hardwood slats (7x7 cm) are mounted in Streetlock®

comb fittings; the space between the slats is only 8 mm.

The solid slats are mounted with a rod and stainless-steel

theft-proof flanged nuts. For maintenance or repairs, they can

simply be replaced or turned over.

The steel supports are also solid, minimizing the chance of waste

accumulation. They can be easily anchored to the pavement.

With the special connection units, long bench configurations can

be realized. Backrests of the same minimalistic design

complement the Solid Programme.

Solid Base BenchesWith the Solid Base Benches the 7x7 cm Solid slats are laid

crosswise. The base construction is made of shot-blasted

aluminium. The attractive finish of the bases and

their combination with warm, FSC hardwood makes the benches

Solitude BenchesThe Solitude Bench is a streamlined bench with an optional short,

curving backrest. The high backrest is pleasantly comfortable.

The supports are made of CorTen steel or matt, shot-blasted

aluminium.

Our Love Benches are simple, low benches, with a noble

appearance. Due to the application of high-quality materials:

Our Horse Shoe benches have a minimalistic, yet distinctive

design. The low benches are made of stainless steel (SS 316)

supports with rounded FSC Cumaru slats: a very elegant and

hard-wearing combination of materials that can withstand the

ravages of time. The deep brown colour of the wood differs slightly

in tint from slat to slat.

The elevated seat, with the typical round shape of a horse-shoe,

creates a surprisingly pleasant and active sitting position.

This bench is easily integrated into architectural plans, both

out- and indoors. It is also available in a broader version for

double-sided use, with an integrated shrub tub.

Our Highlife urban bench is a chic, very comfortable 4 & 8-seater

town bench. The slightly curved back is shoulder-high. The reddish

brown Cumaru is a durable FSC hardwood that gradually develops

a beautiful grey patina. Highlife benches are durable, partly due to

the absence of wooden joints. The high-tech metal frame and

elegantly shaped supports are finished with a double powder

coating: Stainless steel Grey or RAL Anthracite. The playful effect of

the slats makes these benches instantly recognizable. They are

extremely suitable for boulevards, broad urban pavements, plazas

Olympic Wave Bench

The Olympic Wave Bench was designed for the New Parklands in

cooperation with Hargreaves Associates, LDA Design London and

Arup. A variety of long configurations have been installed by the

Water Works in Stratford.

The generously dimensioned, slightly curving bench systems are

constructed of hot-dip galvanized steel supports and 100% FSC

hardwood slat modules. The prefab slat modules, with 5x5 cm

slats, are mounted on the patented Streetlock® comb system and

have a length of approx. 90 cm. The radius of the circle segment is

35 metres.

There are 7 or more mid-segments with a high backrest. One end

consists of a low, intermediate segment and an end segment that

overhangs by 30 cm. The seat height is 47 cm and the total height

is about 120 cm above the ground surface. The supports are

anchored to underground bases.

The Long & Lean benches have flat seats made of extremely

durable FSC red brown hardwood. The benches come in two

widths: 11 slats (± 65 cm) and 15 slats (± 90 cm). The slats are

reversible and can be used on both sides. Also available in

2 lengths, as an 8 or 12 seater.

The benches are supported by simple, galvanized steel supports.

The benches can be linked to form long, architectural seating

areas. Backrests are available for the 15-slat version, and are

attached by the stainless steel Streetlock® comb system.

Commissioned by the Dunea water company and the organisations

charged with the management of the dune area between

the towns of Scheveningen, Wassenaar and Katwijk (NL), Streetlife

designed a special programme of furniture elements:

the 3D-collection. The consequent application of three basic

materials: FSC hardwood, CorTen steel and stainless steel,

resulted in a strong, simple product line with its own identity and

in perfect harmony with the dune landscape.

Our ABC Park Bench is of a simple, timeless design.

This vandal-resistant and affordable bench is constructed

of a brown FSC-approved Brazilian hardwood. This type of

Standard benches have an extremely long life span, due to the

special qualities of the composite material they are made of.

In many outdoor locations it would be ideal to have one or two

extra-long Picnic Tables instead of several smaller ones.

Therefore, our standard picnic tables can be combined into one

table of no less than 700 cm.

These tables have thick, sustainable FSC hardwood slats

(4x9 cm). The connecting table top allows space for wheelchairs.

The thermo-galvanized ground supports form the supporting

frame for both the table and benches from a single underground

unit.

The floor supports are connected by a steel strip that has to be

anchored.

Extra long picnic tables can be realized by means of a connecting

Picnic Tables Solid

The Solid Picknick tables have a simple, restrained design.

Both the wooden table leaf and the steel supports are unbroken

(Solid) in appearance. The tables are available in 2 lengths.

The table belongs to the Solid range; the benches in this range are

illustrated on page 62A.

The FSC hardwood slats (7x7 cm) are attached to Streetlock®

combs, giving an 8 mm gap between the individual slats.

The sturdy slats are attacked with a rod and stainless steel,

anti-theft flanged nuts.

The slats can easily be switched or turned around when

maintenance is required. The Solid Picknick Tables are highly

suitable for use in schools, on campus grounds etc. The Picknick

tables are available in 234 and 300 cm lengths.

The X-Picknick Table and X-Table are solid, spacious tables with

diagonal supports. With the X=Picknick Table, the metal supports

extend elegantly to support the 2 long benches. The resulting

design is quite striking.

Also available as a separate table for use on roof terraces etc.

The table leaf is 93x234 cm and consists of 12 Solid slats

(7x7 cm) made of 100% FSC hardwood. They are attached by

flanged nuts to the Streetlock® comb system, with a gap width of

8 mm. This creates a thick, solid wooden leaf. The supports are

available in matt, shot-blasted aluminium or hot-dip galvanized

steel.

Our Big Art Bench is a combination of a spacious bench and an

information stand. This unique bench has a CorTen steel basic

frame with a fully integrated Rough&Ready sitting edge made of

FSC hardwood beams. Coated steel is available as an option.

The information panel is mounted in an upright frame. If desired,

a laminated glass sandwich can be applied, with the graphic

image on the glass. This is an extremely durable solution,

as it is entirely impervious to the influence of light and moisture.

The Info Tables, or reading stands, are elegant, transparent and

user-friendly. Available in two widths (120 and 156 cm),

either free-standing or as a wall info boards boards, they can

easily be fitted in in most situations. Colourfast graphics are

applied directly on a laminated glass sandwich construction.

This is an extremely durable solution, as it is entirely impervious

to the influence of light and moisture. The exchangeable glass

panels are attached with stainless steel, anti-theft mounting

hardware. The two ground supports are galvanized, the convex

back has a double RAL 9007 powder coating.

Clip Bicycle RackOur Clip bicycle rack, being as simple and inconspicuous in the

streets as a paperclip on a desk, can be applied anywhere:

from monumental objects to modern architectural surroundings.

This timeless design is exceptionally functional, and supports all

types of bikes which can easily be chain-locked to the racks for

additional security. The Clip bicycle racks has been awarded the

Dutch quality mark for reliable cycling facilities:

The Clip is made of round pipe, ø 4.2 cm, is available in

galvanized and stainless steel or powder coated (optionally).

However, damage to the coating owing to rough handling is

unavoidable.

Rough&Ready Bicycle ParkingRough&Ready bicycle parking is a tough supporting stand for

bikes. The hole in the steel support is for fixing the bike to

the stand with a chain lock. The untreated and sustainable FSC

hardwood bar will not damage the bicycle and creates a new

picture with its own identity. For the first time, streets can be

furnished with a natural, user-friendly yet robust bicycle stand.

Streetlife advises placing the R&R stands at spatial intervals of

Rough&Ready BollardsThe R&R range also includes the robust Rough&Ready Bollards:

These robust beams in FSC hardwood or in All Black are combined

with a solid galvanized steel or CorTen steel frame.

With the standard version (BOLS) the frame extends 40 cm into

the ground. The floor version (BOLV) can be easily anchored on a

smooth surface. The beams are covered on the top and are

A fence and a bicycle rack combined into one system takes less

space off the school yard or the shopping mall square.

These bicycle racks are suitable for large as well as small bikes,

which can be parked and chain-locked on both sides.

The bike-fence modules are 300 cm long and are available in an

The Streetlife fences consist of round posts (ø 80 mm) with fence

modules, length 300 cm and height 110 cm. They can be aligned

in a straight line, or in curved shapes. The fan-like fence units are

available in various RAL colours. The attached bicycle racks are

galvanized and create more space in the (school) yard.

The gates, including a childproof lock system, have been tested

and approved as well.

The process of full or semi–integration of the Glass Spot lights

with epoxy resin in any tile or brick of your choice must be

performed by Streetlife. With special brackets, Glasspots can also

be easily integrated in tarmac and other decking and sheet

materials.

Our Streetlife Glasspots have unique qualities, which make them

ideal for outdoor applications. These round glasspot lights

(ø 3.5 cm and ø 4.2 cm) are virtually indestructible,

completely water and dust tight, require very little energy and have

Streetlife now supplies a unique recessed spotlight incorporating

the Tree Air® root aeration system (patent pending) that can be

combined simply and effectively with CorTen steel tree grids and

large tree planters. Heat generated by the spotlight establishes

an additional airflow into the aeration channels if the channel is

left open along one side. This system does away with the need for

The Bowler lamp post is approximately 4.5 metres high.

The frame allows all-round light emission and can be fitted with

various combinations of lights and optics. The stainless steel

triangle and ring produce an attractive twinkling effect at night,

Commissioned by the Dunea water company and the

organisations charged with the management of the dune area

These Rainbow light objects are 13 metres high and are a perfect

combination of functional and decorative LED lighting. A computer

unit gives full control of the light (colour, intensity, changing

speed). Summer and winter colour ‘palettes’ are ready available.

Among other locations, these light objects have been installed in

the city of Leiden’s bus station area. The Rainbow Pillars can be

fitted with power LED spots or discreet white lighting. Available in

Renewable EnergyOne of Streetlife’s recent design projects, based on renewable

energy, sustainability and mobile greenery, is the new street

furniture on Kasteel Traverse in Helmond (NL). In accordance with

Joan Busquests’ urban design plan, the 500-metre concrete

viaduct that crosses the town centre was transformed into

an urban balcony. Streetlife was selected to help turn this vision

into reality.

High Synthetic Cones with columnar beech hedges and

a ribbon-like Facet Fence create a pedestrian promenade.

Tall, energy-efficient LED light masts create an asymmetrical

lighting profile. Two aerodynamic windmills are linked to form

an intriguing and eye-catching feature. The night view below

gives an impression of this project.

As well as supplying products from its collection, Streetlife also

designs to order. Our designers not only have a clear vision of

what to design, they also have experience and knowledge of

materials and constructions for use in public space.

A hot topic at the moment is the integration of solar and/or

wind energy in street furniture to create charging stations

for electric bikes etc.

Mighty Mill®

Many experts agree that local energy generation – using wind and

solar energy for example – is essential to the creation of our

sustainable future. The Mighty Mill® is a High-yield Micro-Turbine

based on the Venturi principle. Being moveable and very quiet,

the Mighty Mill® is highly suitable for use in public space and on

roof terraces.

Thanks to the Venturi principle, the Mighty Mill® has the highest

yield per m2 of rotor surface at wind speeds > 4.5 m/s.

With an average wind speed of 6 m/s, the yield is approx.

3.000 KWh/year. With the supplied converter, the MM-Winventer,

the turbines can be linked to the grid.

No planning permission is required as long as the configuration,

including mast and base, is moveable. Furthermore,

no environmental permit is usually required either because

the rotor diameter is less than 2 m. Thanks to the silencers around

the rotor and the vibration absorbers in the mast, the Mighty Mill®

is quiet as a whisper.

The Micro-Turbine automatically turns to face the prevailing wind.

The mast is at least 6 m high. The supplied Mega Flowerpot serves

as a mast base. With concrete poured into the mast base,

the configuration is stable but still mobile.

The Mighty Mill® has been developed together with experts on

energy and wind tunnels. The turbine is protected by international

design filings and patents. In recent years, several dozen Venturi

wind turbines have been installed and taken into service at

a variety of buildings and locations in the Netherlands and other

countries.
