ENDLESS INNOVATION“ Today, vast amounts of information are running across the transmission

at extremely high speeds.”

WidePassTM

Low Water Peak Fiber

For several years, the optical fiber manufacturers have worked to minimize the water peak attenuation loss, allowing for proper transmission, even at wavelengths within the 1383 nm range. These reduced water peak fibers are considered full spectrum because the reduction of loss in the water absorption spectral region (the E band) allows transmission in this previously unusable portion of the spectrum.

BendfreeTM |Bendfree+TM

Bend Insensitive Fiber

When standard fiber is used, the fiber must be installed very carefully to ensure that no small bends along the fiber path to avoid loss. The bending requirement for deployment limits dimensions of hardware and imposes significant costs for FTTH installations.

Ultra BendfreeTM

Ultra Bend Insensitive Fiber

The strong needs for FTTH solutions are optimized for installation in-home. However, there are many challenges associated with the deployment indoor environment. For in-home wiring applications, bend radii in the range of 5 mm are very common due to restricted spaces, sharp corners, and the use of staplers to secure cables.

UltraPassTM

Non-zero Dispersion-shifted Fiber

Samsung's UltraPassTM fiber is suitable for the next generation networks such as high speed wide band, long haul system, etc. due to the large effective area compared with conventional NZ-DSF, it minimize the non-linear effects for high capacity system.

LOW WATER PEAk FIBER (ITU-T G.652.D)

W idePassTM single-mode optical fiber (ITU-T G.652.D) is designed to provide full optical transmission over the entire operating wavelength range from 1260 nm to 1625 nm (O, E, S, C, L-band). It has a low attenuation in E-band (1360 nm to 1460 nm) by eliminating the water peak permanently, which opens up the unusable band

for additional bandwidth expansion. WidePassTM fiber complies with ITU-T G.652.D requirements and not only meets or exceeds the current industry standards, but also customers’ expectations. WidePassTM fiber are optimized for metropolitan and access area network applications and its long- term reliability is guaranteed over the entire life time of the cabled fiber. With even more improved and reinforced specifications in major optical and geometrical parameters, Samsung's WidePassTM single-mode optical fiber is the product of choice for current and future optical networks.

NON-zERO DISPERSION-ShIFTED FIBER (ITU-T G.656)

U ltraPassTM fiber is advanced Non-Zero Dispersion Shifted Fiber (NZDSF) suitable for long-haul and high speed Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) networks of today and tomorrow. Its intentionally designed dispersion characteristics reduce various non-linear effects which are particularly deleterious in dense wavelength division multiplexing

systems. It enables network operators to use wide wavelength operating window throughout the wavelength range of 1460~1625 nm (S, C and L band) to cope with ever growing demand for more bandwidth. The industry leading low PMD makes the fiber suitable for use in 10 Gb/s or even higher speed DWDM networks. UltraPassTM fiber complies with ITU-T G.656 requirements, which are more advanced standards for wide band optical transmission where Samsung has significantly contributed in the standardization process.

KEy FEATURES

• Optimized for long haul and metro network• Tested and passed all the applicable requirements of Telcordia GR-20, Issue 3• Expanded bandwidth (S + C + L) for DWDM• Optimized dispersion for EDFA/Raman system• Large effective area for low non-linear effects• Low PMDQ for 40G or higher (<0.06 ps/km1/2)

APPLICATIONS

• Metro loop transmission cables• Optimized for long-haul and ultra-long transmission
