W.B. Monday 13th July 2020
It is your final week as year 6 students and as John Perry students. This is not how we envisaged you ending your
primary school journey and I am sure you are feeling slightly sad that you are not getting to see your friends and
teachers to say goodbye. We also have to look at the positives of this time you have been able to share with your
families. We are all going to be very sad to see you go, so have put together some interesting lessons for you to
engage in for your final week as year 6 children.
Monday 13th July 2020
Subject: Task:
Maths: Practise times tables on TTRS for 30 minutes.
We are going to go back to basics with your maths this week and focusing again on some of the topics we did at the beginning of year 6. We are going to be looking at statistics this week. There are three different stars of work, so challenge yourself as much as you can!

We are going to do some more one off lessons in English so it is easier for you all to follow. This week we are looking at various transition activities. Today, you should look at the PowerPoint which is below and then complete the task.

Here are some messages from your teachers. A video will have also have been sent to your, or will be on the website
so keep your eyes peeled!
Dear 6 Germany,
I wanted to say how proud I am of all of you! You worked really hard to be at good place for
your SATs and your effort aren’t a wasted. You don’t need an examination to tell you how
amazing you are! Through your phenomenal efforts you matured in your character and
behaviour and developed the individual gifts you were born with. I can say without any doubt
that you are one of the best classes I have ever taught and I will always remember every
single one of you! Furthermore, all of your hard work will be evident when you go to your
secondary schools and blow them away with your sharpness and ability.
Some of you have spent six years in John Perry school and others less. Nevertheless, I am
sure the memories and friendships you have made will last forever. I hope you can look back
on your time at John Perry with a smile and look forward to your futures with excitement,
hope and wonder at all the new possibilities, friendships and memories yet to be made.
I wish you all the best and I hope that there may be an occasion to see you again soon.
From your proud Year 6 teacher,
Mr Eden
Year 6,
You have come to your last day in primary school – something that in March seemed like a lifetime
away. But here we are and now, where do I start with you lovely lot? The year group that has been
described as fun, exciting, boisterous, mischievous and as I like to say: one of a kind. We have spent a
lot of hours, minutes and seconds together over the past few years and this has given us an
inconceivable amount of memories – some you may remember vividly and some that may just etched
into my mind. I have crossed paths with so many of you and your families, a lot of you more than once
since you have been in Year 3 and I am going to be so sad to see you fleeing the John Perry nest.
Now however, it is time for you to start your new adventure of secondary school, to become the
teenage you – I am glad you get to do that part elsewhere - and to continue being as amazing as you
have been up until this point.
3H, 5U, 6I, can you believe we have come to the end of all those primary school years? You helped
me to begin my teaching career, and what a great way to begin. The enthusiasm you all bought and
still bring to the classroom is unreal, the chattiness also being a great strength of yours, but overall the
friendly faces I get to see every day is something I will never forget for as long as I am a teacher.
Now, this year has been a bit of a strange one. We did all that learning, rushing around like headless
chickens, perfecting the use of past progressive, past perfect and all that other jargon, as well as all
the maths we crammed in day after day to end up here – in a lockdown without all the things we
thought we were going to get. But it’s not all bad…we got to skip the dreaded SATs, we didn’t have to
sing in front of the whole school and we haven’t had to endure the tears we could not fight back on the
last day. The best thing about this lockdown, is at least we have all been through the same experience,
and we’re all in this together.
As you move on, remember all those faces you have spent so long with, remember how they made
you smile and how they sometimes tested your patience. You have given me a lot to remember and I
am not going to forget some of the funny and outrageous things that have happened with some of you.
So let’s think back…Austeja, Daisy and Jemimah – my Just Dance queens, who were always red in
the face after a golden time or a Christmas Party, David N, David P and Alfie – our own football
fanatics, leading the school in the football team, Clara, Eddie and Ruby – forever with their heads in
books, exploring magical worlds of adventure, Summer Ryan, Hajahr and Megan – showing us their
amazing drawing skills every week and teaching us something new, Tayevon, Tyler and JeJe - always
wanting to have fun and give us something to laugh about, alongside Zain, Zahi and Tasnim with their
ever growing wittiness and intelligence, JR and Isha - their origami adventures begun here, making me
lots of beautiful things to stick around the classroom, Summer Waterman and Mollie – my playground
buddies since year 3, always giving me someone to speak to on duty, Josh and Luke – the Dobble
kings, beating me every time we played, Segun and Ecaterina – out newest members, who made us
complete with their well-rounded personalities and finally Denisa, Selin and Jaden – my story tellers,
giving me information and funny stories every day! And that is just a drop in the ocean of all the words
I could use to describe each and every one of you! What you must remember forever and always is:
these are your friends, the people you leaned on in good times and in bad. You now know forever
more that you really have got a friend in them!
Now, of course you might be feeling scared and nervous, mixed with happy and excited about moving
onto a bigger school, bigger class and a bigger world, but you must always remember to be yourself
and do what makes you happy. You are going to be amazing and do phenomenal things with your
lives in whatever path you choose, and although you are going to miss John Perry at first, soon we will
become a distant memory of your childhood. I look forward to hearing the stories of you beginning
secondary school and maybe seeing some of your faces when September comes around.
Thank you for being the best bunch of children any teacher could wish to teach. Now go and be
amazing!!!
Miss Slyman 😊
