Save Sheeshambara campaign started in Sahaspur BlockDate: 3rd May 2015Community Radio 107.8 fm Himgiri ki Awaaz, run from the Himgiri Zee University campus started the awareness campaign amongst the villagers about the proposed trenching ground to be shift in Sheeshambara. This proposed project is near to village Sheeshambara, Singhaniwala, Shivalik Engineering College, Tulas engineering college, Himgiri Zee University and to the river. If the project finds the nod to go ahead then it is bound to affect the social life as well as the ecology of the area. Other than Sheeshambara, areas like Ramgarh, Palwal, Sherpur, East Hopetown and Selaqui Township will be affected by this project. Therefore, citing the future complications this campaign has started. Prior to this on Saturday, pamphlets were distributed amongst the villagers. In the evening films related to trenching ground were shown to villagers in the evening haat which get scheduled on every Friday. On this occasion BDC member Ajmer Singh, Gram pradhan Singhaniwala Gaffar and Gram Pradhan Selaqui Reeta Sharma were also present. Furthering the campaign a meeting between all the gram pradhans of all the affected areas and the representatives of educational institutes and townships was held in Selaqui. In the meeting the use of more media and the getting good public support through it was emphasized.On the occasion Block Development council member Ajmer Singh said that earlier this project had grave complications in Sahastradhara, where family relationships, ecology and health of people severely got affected. Other than this the fertility of the land got eroded, toxic gas started spreding in nearby areas and water resources got toxic.
