The weather coop-erated and approximately 50 people took part from Richer and surrounding areas. Fellowship was enjoyed by all. We would also like to thank Father Gabriel Lévesque for announcing our Walk with the Cross to his congregation and for his continued support and attendance at our annual event. The Awana kids were surprised by a visit from “Sparky” on Wednesday March 9. The kids had a very fun night as it was grandparents night and they brought family to watch them. They played games, had a visit from “Sparky”, and had store night where they could buy goodies with money earned at Awana meetings. The following Wednesday was the much antici-pated Grand Prix Race Night which also featured an adult category this year as Dad’s raced too. The race track is a professional mini derby track with laser finish in thousands of a second. The track also posts mph and order of finish on a large projection screen. This is a super fun tradition in Awana as the kids get to make and race their mini soapbox creations.

On Friday March 11, The Richer Fireside Youth invited the Youth from the Tuesday night Sports Drop In to join them at Deluxe Bowl-ing Lanes in Steinbach. Over 40 kids and parents from Richer, Ste. Anne’s, Ross, and even Youth visiting from the States, all got together in 6 teams for Glow Bowling. The competitive Dad’s team vied for best score while the kids taught the Mom’s team how to multi task using the secret bowling handshake mixed with “alien” dance moves, all exclu-sive to Richer! Ninety minutes of pure energy, music, and fun made this bowling event a huge success for everyone that came out!Submitted by Michelle Driedger Youth Leader-Richer Fireside Youth.

WinterFest... Mild Weather During Richer’s Annual Winter Fun

The Richer Daycare successfully hosted another Winterfest in late February with the help of the Richer Community Club and families that came out enjoyed almost perfect weather. Teams of horses and sleighs offered free rides around Dawson Trail Park for everyone. There was a snowman building contest, a coin and candy scramble, free hotdogs and more! Not a bad way to say farewell to an-other winter.
