EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

ANNUAL REPORT 2015-16 The Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise Development Institute Hubli & Br.

MSME-DI Gulbarga has a jurisdiction covering thirteen districts of North Karnataka. Except Two districts, Belgaum & Hubli- Dharwad, all the other eleven districts are declared as backward districts as per Dr. Nanjundappa Report set up by Government of Karnataka.

MSME-DI, Hubli is conducting regular skill development training, entrepreneurship development, management development, motivation programmes besides organizing workshops and seminars on current topics & vendor development programmes etc. The Institute also implementing NMCP and MSME Schemes.

Achievements of MSME-DI :: Hubli (2015-16 )

EDP Programmes EDPs conducted during 2015-16 - 17 Nos. IMCs conducted during 2015-16 - 19 Nos. Vendor Development Programmes One NVDP conducted during 2015-16 on 05-07 January 2016 at Hubli 112 SSI units benefited. State Vendor Development Programmes Six SVDPs conducted during 2015-16 covering Hubli, Belgaum, Raichur, Gadag & Karwar. Product Certification One awareness programme conducted on Product Certification on 26.12.2015 at Gadag. Energy Efficiency Technique One awareness programme conducted on Energy Efficiency Technique on 4.3.2016 at Hubli. QMS/QTT Two programmes on QMS/QTT conducted at Bijapur on 26.11.2015 and Belgaum on 16.8.2015. Programmes under PD A/c Workshops (Two) on Gold Appraisal were organized at MSME-DI Hubli.

I.P.R Three IPR programmes were conducted during 2015-16. Bar Code Six awareness programme conducted on Bar Code at Athani, Gadag, Hubli, Bijapur & Yadgir. Three units were benefited under reimbursement of Barcode scheme total Rs. 76,831 has been disbursed accordingly. Entrepreneurial & Management Development of MSEs For seminars on Support Entrepreneurial & Management Development of MSEs were conducted at Karwar, Bellary, Belgaum & Hubli. ISO Reimbursement Seven units were benefited under ISO Reimbursement scheme Rs. 3,84,113 has been disbursed accordingly. MSME Schemes Delivered ten lectures at various places covering north Karnataka under the jurisdiction of MSME-DI, Hubli. Cluster Activities Four clusters viz., Auto Cluster at Hubli, Readymade Garments Cluster at Hubli, Food Cluster at Gulbarga, Auto Cluster at Bidar are functioning. Sir M.Vishveshwarya Heat Treatment & Engineering Cluster at Hubli and Shri. Gurudev Resin Industrial Processing & Preservation Cluster at Bijapur are approved and under implementation.

MSME-DI, Hubli promoted Four clusters viz.,Foundry Cluster Belgaum, Hubli-Dharwad Auto Cluster , Readymade Garment Cluster Hubli & Food Cluster Gulbarga. which are functioning after procurement of all required machineries, . During the year steering committee has seven approval for preparation of 36 Diagnostic survey Reports (DSR’s) through KCTU and in principal approval has accorded for establishment of Raisin Cluster Bijapur.

This institute has established a readymade garment training center a food incubation center a CAD /CAM & CNC machining center, and also provides in-house practical training & demonstration in consumer chemicals, food products & RMG.

The MSME-DI has taken over Land from Government of Karnataka in Belgaum and Gulbarga for establishment of Technology center. The GOK has provided 10 and 15 acres of land free of cost at Belgaum and Gulbarga and it is under process.

During the current year our endeavor was to organize as many “out reach” programmes as possible in the rural areas. With due modesty we state that 75% of our programmes have been conducted in rural areas for SC, ST, Minority & women entrepreneurs and self help groups, are the main beneficiaries.

MSME-DI, Hubli imparted practical skill oriented and knowledge based

training under the skill development programme in the areas of food products such as preparation of ready to eat food .e.g. Gulab jamun mix, rava idle mix, sambar powder, rasam powder, sweet dishes etc; Fashion designs & Readymade Garments; value addition in RMG; Artificial jewellary; Consumer Chemicals and IT based trainings.

The training programme has been organized in remote areas to enable unemployed youth to start self employment venture with limited resources.

MSME-DI Hubli motivated BVB College of Engineering to submit proposal

to establishment of business incubator the proposal was duly vetted after necessary inspection and recommended to Hqs. Office.

At the instance of MSME-DI, the B.V.B. College of Engineering & Technology Hubli is actively participating in the programme by opting as active member in the SPV. They have also offered to provide knowledge support for the center of excellence and to eventually build a healthy industry-institution relationship.

18. Awareness programme on IPR was conducted on 10.2.2016 at Raichur in association with DIC & Chamber of Industries & Commerce, Raichur 95 participants attended.

2016 manufacture of consumer chemicals, like cleaning powder, phenyl, soap, powder, liquid detergent, food items etc. other than

40 persons were imparted practical training in manufacture of consumer chemicals at MSME-DI, Hubli.

ENTREPRENUERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (i) ENTREPRENURSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES STIPENDARY & NON-STIPENDARY TARGET: 17 Nos. Achieved: 17 Nos. The target assigned to MSME-DI Institute Hubli & Br. MSME-DI Gulburga for the year 2015-16 was 17 EDP’s and 17 Programmes were achieved. Salient features:

All skills providing opportunities for promoting income generation among women and with possibilities of working individually or as a group activity. All Programmes have been aimed at participation of SHG’s and importance of group activity and adopting cluster approach has been impressed on the participants. Observations :

The training has been well received at all centers. Attendance has been very good through out the programme. Trainees demonstrated their capabilities to assimilate the technologies.
