"BACKGROUND !VENUE !Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal is the venue for the 13th SAARCLAW Conference accompanied by 10th Chief Justices’ Conference. Kathmandu affords excellent weather condition for intellectual exercise and has emerged over a period of time as one of the most sought after places for international conferences in Asia. The city prides of owning seven cultural world heritage sites, attractive mountainous and natural beauty in a vibrant cosmopolitan backdrop.
!THEME !The theme of the conference is inspired by the theme of SAARC Conference of head of the states and government that was held i n Februa ry, 2015 a t Kathmandu. The member countries of SAARC and its legal community have often felt the need to be closer and work together for better l i f e a n d e f f e c t i v e unders tand ing th rough shared learning in the field of law reforms, enforcement, justice administration, good governance with a special advantages for regional co -operation, development and growth. There is a growing need amongst the member countries to
focus on regional i n f r as t ruc tu re as a
m e a n s t o f a c i l i t a t e meaningful connectivity for
regional trade and free flow of ideas, goods, services, technology
and resources as lack of connectivity will h inder reg iona l deve lopment in a l l dimensions. The Legal Community of SAARC region with this conference shall therefore explore the possibility of enhancing connectivity in SAARC through law, justice, good governance and development. Hence, t h e t h e m e f o r t h e c o n f e re n c e i s "Connecting SAARC through Law,

Development." The working papers will be presented in four themat ic
committees with following themes: Governance and Human Rights,
Corporate and Business law, Justice Administration and
Dispute Settlement, Legal Education and Legal

THE CONFERENCE !ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE OF GUESTS !Participants are expected to arrive in Kathmandu latest by 4th March, 2016 (Friday) . Airport pickup and drop can be duly arranged from the preferred hotel accommodation; if necessary. A welcome dinner would be hosted by SAARCLAW Nepal on Friday evening for the participants at Hyatt Regency, Kathmandu. !!

!!Further, the Executive Council Members are expected to arrive in time to attend the ExCo meeting to be held on 4th March, Friday evening at Hyatt Regency, Kathmandu. Conference is expected to end by 4:30 PM on 6th of March, 2016; after the valedictory session which would be fully dedicated to honourable Chief Justices. Late evening flights for departure may be arranged on Sunday itself (depending on the availability of flights), if required.
!!WORKING SESSIONS AND PAPER PRESENTATIONS !The conference will be inaugurated by His Excellency The President of Nepal (to be
confirmed) on 5th of March, 2016. There will be eight working sessions, including the inauguration and the valedictory sessions. Working sessions will start soon after the inauguration and two thematic committees will be running simultaneously. Each SAARCLAW National chapters are expected to encourage their experts to present working paper in thematic committees of their choice. Further Individual conference participants are also encouraged to present their own paper on any topic falling within the prescribed theme. The working papers are to be sent directly or through their respective national chapters. On the Second day an afternoon session would be devoted to Chief Justices of all the SAARC countries who would present their considered views on the related matters to the participants in the valedictory session.
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF WORKING PAPERS !The working paper must reach the Conference Secretariat by the mid of February 2016. The paper presenters are requested to send their papers through

email. Each paper should be sent in Ms- Word format(.doc, .docx) or .Pdf format. Papers must be in Size 12, Times New Roman font, not exceeding 5000 words in any case. Presenters are further encouraged
to prepare focused, issue oriented and conference theme based power point slides, for presentation of their papers but power points presentation should not exceed more than Fifteen slides.!
10TH SAARC CHIEF JUSTICES' CONFERENCE !10th SAARC Chief Justices' conference would be held side by side with the SAARCLAW Conference. The Supreme Court of Nepal will host the Chief Justices’ Conference in coordination with SAARCLAW, Nepal. The participants of SAARCLAW Conference will have the pleasure of listening to the findings and conclusions of Chief Justices’ conference during the valedictory session.!

It may also be paid at the reception desk in the venue of the Conference, a day before the start of the program. Payments only in USD or demand draft would be accepted and in special circumstances equivalent Indian Rupee might be accepted.
