It went dry in December 2002, which ahs affected the horticultural crops.

Lata Gaonkar used to get 12 sacks of paddy from her plot in this vast field. This year she got only 1 sack of paddy and 11 sacks of chaff.

When the poor local farmers approach Sai Baba the arrogant mines manager, a non-Goan, for compensation, he tells them to get lost,
