Environmental Awards & Recognition Solar power leader: The Solar Energy Industries Association named GM a “Solar Champion” for impact on establishing a strong solar industry in the U.S. o GM made SEIA’s list of top 25 corporate solar users from 2012-2016. o GM has more solar installations in the U.S. than any other automaker and has the second-highest percentage of solar usage among all commercial users, according to a SEIA report. Landfill-free and recycling leader: GM has more landfill-free facilities and recycles more than any other automaker according to independent sustainability agency Two Tomorrows. Wildlife habitat leader: GM leads all automakers with 63 habitat programs certified by Wildlife Habitat Council. U.S. clean energy patent leader: GM ranks No. 1 of all companies in terms of most U.S. clean-energy patents granted since 2002, according to the Clean Energy Patent Growth Index of U.S. patents. During that time, GM also received more fuel cell patents than any other company. EPA ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year for Sustained Excellence: GM earned the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award for sustained excellence in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. This is the organization’s highest level of recognition for corporate energy management. It received the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award for energy management in 2012. EPA ENERGY STAR® Climate Communications Award: GM received the award in 2014, 2015 and 2016 for raising consumer awareness of climate change and amplifying the positive effects energy-efficient behaviors can have on the environment. Dow Jones Sustainability Index: GM was named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index in 2015 and 2016, the only automaker to make the list in North America. GM’s score increased by 5 points between 2015 and 2016, and the company earned perfect scores in climate strategy and brand management. CDP Climate Disclosure Leader and CDP Climate Performance Leader: GM achieved perfect scores on both climate change data disclosure and performance submitted to CDP, and was featured in the CDP S&P 500 Climate Change Report 2014 and The A List: CDP Climate Performance Leadership Index 2014. It received a perfect score on disclosure in 2013 and 2015. In 2016, GM was named to CDP’s global Climate “A” list – a spot held by just 9 percent of the thousands of companies participating in CDP’s climate change program. Wildlife Habitat Council’s Corporate Conservation Leadership and Employee Engagement Achievement Awards: Presented to GM at the 2016 Wildlife Habitat Council Conference for overall achievement in corporate commitment to biodiversity and conservation and employee dedication to habitat programs. GM’s Vancouver Parts Distribution Center also earned the Formal Project Award for its GM GREEN program. 4th annual Plastics for Life™ Global Parts Competition “Sustaining Life” award: GM earned the award for its Do Your Part initiative in 2017. Judges selected it from a wide range of parts that previously won in other Society for Plastics Engineers competitions at SPE events during the past year. Society of Plastics Engineers Environmental Award: GM earned an award in 2017 from SPE in the environmental category for its Do Your Part water bottle recycling program. Canada’s Clean 15 Project for 2016: CAMI Assembly ranked in the Canada Clean 15 for its landfill-free initiative. The competition recognizes 15 projects based on innovation, impact and inspirational example they set.
